  1. Oh yes indeed, see i do listen......................good man-thanks.................i will when i get it back on the road at the mo it looks like this..............................
  2. That has to be the most extravagant use of anyones hard earned cash i have ever heard of....... :notworthy:
  3. I thought (maybe wrongly) that there was a bit of in/out adjustment, its been a long time since i did mine so cant clearly remember.............im going for a sit on the stupid step...................i just remember the three bolts and getting the bolts in the middle of the elongated holes hence the adjustment, i didnt mean actual movement in the bbj..............
  4. 10mm?? His first post says his wheel sticks out 10mm more on one side.........
  5. I dont know if your car is the same as a vr but the bottom ball joints have a bit of movement in/out so maybe this is where the 10mm comes from..........
  6. It feels like ive asked the audience for the £100 question on "Who wants to be a millionare".................... Anyway i have found out after googling it and trawling through loads of forums.......... The bushes go in underneath the cross member tapered (thinnest) side pointing up, and before anyone laughs :nono: i took them to a VW specialist and he asked me what way they went in :brickwall: Here's a photo ive nicked from somewhere...............and its upside down, which is helpful............ :gag:
  7. Continuing my attempt to ask the most stupid question on this forum :cuckoo: , i got some polybushes and have lost the piece of paper in the kit and dont know which way up the front crossmember bushes go.............. The old ones were so shagged its impossible to tell from the photo's when i took it apart, im pretty sure its the fat end at the top and the tapered end at the bottom, can someone confirm ?............. :brickwall:
  8. Anyway talked to Vince at Stealth and he said put the chip straight on e-bay, and get a proper map once all engine mods are done................ and he the man......... :notworthy:
  9. Its not a generic chip it remapped by stealth but it was the donor car that was mapped not mine........im not convinced about chopping the ecu wiring though and im the worst solderer in the world......... :salute:
  10. im not far off 38 myself :) its a character from my favourite movie when i was younger. and whats funny about littlehampton? :? When i was younger at school a hampton was what we called our man parts.............i'll get me coat................. :salute:
  11. German, Swedish and French a supplier of (not very good IMHO) pattern parts for German, Swedish and French made vehicles. Of course absolutely true, but the man said he was in a hurry...............
  12. Just had to say i like your forum name ^^^^especially as you come from Littlehampton............i know im 38 and havent grown up yet...........
  13. Yea mines a coilpack, both cars have standard engines (from what i could tell with the other car) the only thing i dont know is if the donor car had aftermarket cams..............Im just a bit worried about splicing into the ecu wiring............
  14. Ive bought a second hand Schrick VGI which im going to fit to my otherwise standard VR6, it was off a car being broken for bits. While looking at the car i saw a Dastek Unichip which was connected to the ecu wires, i asked him how much he wanted for it and bought it. The car it came off was a 94 vr and mine is a 93, im presuming that this has been dyno'd for the car it was fitted to, now the 64,00 dollar question is would YOU fit this (if you were me) to your car or would you take it somewhere to get remapped, can it be re-written as it were ? OR would you whack it on and see what happens ? I know im asking a lot of questions but i have no experience of modding an engine at all, so all comments welcome.................. :notworthy:
  15. Sounds like the best thing you could do, never good to dwell and stress yourself, take it and move on..............
  16. GSF sell em mate..............
  17. No with the car jacked up they do move all over the shop like i said look at the photo's in that thread to see how the top plate looks when the car is on the deck.......but they are cheap so if in doubt get some newens..............
  18. I agree about the rear bush i have OE myself. I think the VR would be a bit happier on Poly than the 16v because of the heavier engine, i use coilovers with dampers set quite hard and OE bushes on the front wishbone just doesnt feel hard enough. I think it comes down to car use and driver preference suspension set up etc etc Horses for courses like i said you pay your money and take your choice............... :salute:
  19. I would check out other threads first do you know how old the top mounts are? When i jack my car up the top mounts move all over the place and my top mounts are about a year old, the gauge is where they sit when the cars on the deck.
  20. Man i would have gone mental, surely its their responsibility if i used your car and broke it dont you think i would fix it or pay for repairs ? I would go to citizens advice or something like that find out where you stand legally, i would say dont fix it yourself get a garage to do it and take the bill back to those who broke it. Find out where you stand though............
  21. The front ARB bushes in your first link are for 16v its the end of the ARB that wont fit a VR ive been looking for the drop link bush in poly but no-one knows the part no also where the ARB fits the sub frame i think the 16v uses a 18mm ARB and the VR is 22mm so wont fit. The steering rack bush uses only one bush not two (as per your link) the only difference is if its powersteering theres a gap in the bush for a pipe. I have just ordered some Poly bushes by powerflex from Awesome GTI also check out the powerflex website for part no's and compatability. Generally the front wishbones are the same (across corrado's range) the front VR ARB is model specific (uses drop links which are different to 16v's) The rear beams are the same with all corrado's Its quite difficult when you read these links to get the right part as the photo's are quite misleading (or no photo at all) personally i would stick with a well known brand (like powerflex) but you pay your money and take your choice..................... :salute:
  22. Ta i thought i'd sneak on my latest photo of ongoing works............ :norty: Its a PITA job mate so take your time, i would leave the pipes on as it keeps the cooler in roughly the right place and you leave these on only oil will come out when you undo it. The rear seal has two small hoops that locate on the back of the cooler (you'll see what i mean when you get there) this is the one that seeps, just have an old cloth handy and wear goggles if you have any cos oil goes everywhere............
  23. 24mm do it from the bottom............the pipes get in the way if you do it from the top and you cant get to the seal at the back of the cooler.... :)
  24. This is the best view of mine near perfect after 17 years............
