  1. I've got a mint one (in storm grey) that someone's agreed a sale on through the classifieds on here. If it falls through, I'll let you know. Pics below: Looking for £50 posted.
  2. Yeah I was at brookes, I did placement last year so finished with a lot of the MEng students and BEng from the year below me. Which makes the age gap between us EVEN bigger! As long as I don't get a resit I'll be happy (and it's not a complete fail!) Anyways, I bought my wedding suit this weekend (getting hitched in July) so that was a siezeable chunk of the Plum's budget. I guess it's on hold for a *little*bit longer.
  3. Yeah it was horrible, and it's the only one I have found so I'm not sending it back. The pins will bend back, but they were sticking through the edge of the jiffy bag and it was so poorly packaged. I'm wondering if I can get a 10(?)mm socket in behind the bracket, but it'll have to wait until I have some more free time. I really need to find a job! :/ I'm thinking I will change the BTS also at some point. The Corrado has an almost new VAG water pump on too, and as I have a cambelt to fit I'm half tempted to disassemble half of the engine, and do the belt and waterpump (with stat) all in one go!
  4. Ben Affleck cast along side Morgan Freeman? Is it really that bad?
  5. MFA stalk came today, after about 3 weeks of being lost in the post. It is filthy, and the pins are bent because it was only sent in a jiffy bag! DO NOT USE Hodgy's (hodgy587) on ebay for anything! If they can't even send something properly, I don't know what else they will f*ck up!!
  6. Kev, have you seen how close the rear suspension is to the exhaust manifold! That would really worry me.
  7. I do, only passenger side left but it's pretty mint! Looking for £50 posted and pics are in the classifieds.
  8. With regards to the thermostat and bad running/staying on cold map, does it switch over always from coolant temp or can it switch from oil temp? Oil seems to pass 50 quite quickly but coolant gauge stays below white section. I know it works cos it climbs up to a few mm right of vertical in traffic and then flicks back to the left when the rad fan comes on, and drops back to the white when driving normally again. It's averaging 31mpg which I don't think is too bad, although could be better. We're going away this weekend so i don't want to rock the boat by doing the stat, and will do it next week instead.
  9. I finished uni this week, been very bitter sweet. After starting in September 2006 with a foundation course(been out of education a few years) that went really well, which proved I hadn't forgotten as much as I thought! Then the BEng Motorsport Engineering began. I never realised that Stage 1 (i.e. first year) never counted towards anything, so I kinda wasted my efforts there. By 2nd year, I had given up on the schitty teaching and poor organisation skills and grades dropped to a 2:2. As third year was Barbados :D I didn't have any exams or uni work really. This year has been crazy busy. Lots of different courseworks, reports, and group activities plus my dissertation on Dry Sump system design for the VR6 (and associated V6 VAG engines). Despite the fact I have got a number of First Class grades in New Product Development, Aerodynamics, Motorsport Vehicle Performance and CVT Gearbox design, it could well be the exams that drag me back down to a 2:2 again. I hate exams, fooking nasty things. 2 hours to get tested on MAYBE 25% of the syllabus, despite having to know it all off by heart. It's so pointless to me. Surely you can see I can do the work by all the 70+ grades i've gotten over the year. Never mind, it is all over now. Which actually means I can get back on with the Plum. AT LAST! God, I thought it would never happen! Anyways, that's me up to date. Uni was useful but I don't miss it. I'm glad I learnt the skills and abilities I know now, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's kinda sad really. Jon.
  10. Great, cheers Steve. I was thinking of slacking the tensioner (probably change the belts at the same time) and keeping the pump roughly in position perhaps balanced on an axle stand, and then have a look. Despite owning the car for 4 weeks I still haven't been under it, or had the wheels off!
  11. I'm confused, you said the FRONT bumper has a nasty hole where a PO used a towbar? So he was towing the Corrado with something else, and didn't think to use the towing eyes?
  12. if you have polybushed some parts, I would polybush them all. Else the polybushes will take a lot more strain, and then the softer bushes will wear out much faster as they're not as strong. So my 2p is poly everything now that you have started.
  13. I've read some great technical papers from the SAE about the G40, mainly the engine as opposed to the car itself! Would definitely make a novel swap into a C! :D
  14. Unfortunately, my C is the same! got bags of VW parts waiting the time to get assembled :-s So, I took the thermostat off the Corrado yesterday along with seal and housing all as new (they've only done about 10 miles in over 2 years!) so I went to put those on the Golf but all the PAS is in the way (The Corrado hasn't had a pas pump on for a long time). So, is it possible to swap the stat and housing with the PAS on the car? The Bentley literally just says undo the housing and swap over, but I'm not sure I can get tools to the bolts? There's a bracket in the way and I may need to undo the PAS belt tensioner and drop the pump off the car a little bit with the lines still attached.
  15. I wouldn't call a mk3 polo G40 a tin can, or that it can't really brake either! Is this purely opinion or do you have some evidence? You could say the same thing about the Corrado, based purely on the fact that you don't see many of them around any more!
  16. I think I have one, not sure how good the bearing is though. EDIT: Sorry mine is o/s (drivers side).
  17. I know, right? I heard that robot looking Mod hid this away so he could enjoy it all by himself whilst eating some tinned kippers.
  18. Why is Mr Burns throwing up the Rockafella diamond? I like all kinds of jibs. I'm not a jib nazi.
  19. I'm upset at the lack of seventies clothing but wish you luck in your sellage.
  20. I don't think the Mk3 frame has the big heavy block for vibration damping on too? or am i being a tard and that's a 4-cyl part only?
  21. it's true re: all threads being sticky, I think that would be a great idea! Then there's no discriminating between threads and no-one can accuse us of being thread racists. I like the cut of your gib. And your ideas too.
  22. It can't be viewed cos it's unstickied, View count won't go up cos people can't find it, hence making it look like no one wants it anymore. Catch 22 methinks.
  23. Definitely lates, I've PM'd you details. Cheers, Jon.
  24. Changing the forum back to it's unf*cked state would be a good start I think. but then the mods lose all their toys  i'm not really lazy, I just don't see why it was decided no longer relevant. Having time delays on stuff like this is a bit retarded imo.
  25. So is this ever going to be resurrected or is it gone for good? I didn't seem to get an answer, Mister Tom. Can't we put all the "Definitive" threads in a section by themselves, so they're still accessible but not in the way of the Engines forum?
