  1. IIRC No, the 16v driveshafts aren't as thick as the G60 ones.
  2. do a search, they're some wedge though. And yes, the fronts definitely DO have bump stops.... You know what bump stops are, right? Why don't you just get the garage to order everything in for you?
  3. which 4 branch do you have?
  4. Why didn't you just leave it at PSI? Or are you still using it as a daily uninsured? :|
  5. So has this replaced the Nugget? I haven't really kept up with the back story.
  6. Currently deciding whether I'm suicidal enough (and if there's enough interweb space) to post up my To do list. I don't wanna crash the server.
  7. I've taken one off when stripping an engine Jim. It's not too bad, you'll need allen keys to get the bolts out and the cooler itself is held onto the main stalk (bit the filter screws onto) with a reeealllly thin 32mm(?) nut which is kinda fiddly to get off as it's done up quite tight and I was using a monkey wrench as I don't have a socket that big. I'm just trying to think what else you need to take off to get to it. Apart from oil filter! I think a lot of people leave them in situ even if they get a Mocal, as it helps the engine warm up quicker by transferring the heat between oil and coolant on cold starts / frosty mornings. :salute:
  8. sounds like wiring. get some pics up of the back of your headlights. we should be able to tell whether it's got an uprated loom or not.
  9. I was thinking the other day about how the exhaust system mount points are quite poor on the Corrado and other Mk2-esque VWs. From the engine: the manifold mounts on the head with xx bolts, the manifold mounts to the downpipe (which may have a silencer on) with 3? bolts in a triangular pattern. the downpipe mounts to centre pipe join with a U-shape bracket, the centre pipe mounts to the first silencer with a U-bracket - the silencer also mounts to the floorpan using hook / bar bracket. the first silencer goes up and over the rear beam and mounts to the backbox with a U-bracket - this box is also mounted to the floorpan. The mount point between the downpipe and centre pipe has been an issue on at least 3 cars I know of: My C, Prodigal's C and my old Mk2 16v. The problem seems to be that there is no support for the downpipe apart from hanging off the manifold; this seems to place a lot of stress on the downpipe-centrepipe join, and this has started blowing at one point or another on all 3 cars mentioned above. My golf had soft engine mounts so that meant the engine moved more than it should have, but I still reckon there is scope for getting some kind of extra bracket (perhaps just as the DP goes under the bulkhead?) to take more of the strain, which would stop the join from working loose. This extra bracket would obviously have to allow for some movement. I'l try to get some pics up sometime. Any thoughts?
  10. Please lock. I'll copy and paste this into the definitive exhaust thread.
  11. think so. I know the internet is a daunting place, but try this: http://www.ukmot.com/mot_check.asp#information7
  12. Just being silly, as per usual :D I'm ASBO free!
  13. Good work mate. I hope in rushing it you haven't missed anything!
  14. Nice car fella. Does it really go like stink compared to your 20v? the 325 only has about 170ish hp I think.
  15. no, they won't be perfectly straight due to the suspension geometry. One will "look" at a larger angle than the other, but if you split the difference and have them both pointing the same amount, then you should find they both have the same amount on. Hope that makes sense! As with mine, your steering wheel may not be centred properly at the moment, or possibly after an alignment.
  16. this has been covered before mate, try the search. they are various temp sensors which help control the engine.
  17. Ha ha cool! Me and my bro (Prodigal Son) have Corrados, so that's 2 in our family aswell (although 4 total between us).
  18. Driveway is a lot more angled than I remember, so not gonna risk putting the car up in the air fully!
  19. The green one with silly wide arches is most probably Dubweiser.
  20. not as fast as my corrado then  from zero to sixty bits, yes yours is probably faster!
  21. oh right, you mean the insides of the hoses? Yeah, they're concave. Look like this: ______ ........ \ ______/ very rough, but you get the picture. the male hard line ends are convex or slightly pointed. They seal together really well when tightened.
