104.9 for V-Power down here in West Devon.

Mine will be going into semi-hibernation shortly, just as soon as I've found a diesel to do the winter running around. Will then just use the Rado on sunny days and weekends, rather than the 600 miles a week she's currently enduring. Couldn't bear to put her away totally!

Great news - it used to be the place for VAG servicing. Thanks for the tip.

There was a nice little cameo appearance for the 205 on Fifth Gear last week. Always fancied one but always end up sticking to Dubs.

A good point well made by double-6s. As time moves on and cars improve, the benchmark increases. Better brakes, suspension, tyres, seats, engines etc - all part of the mix. The Corrado was probably worth five stars in the nineties, but by the very nature of the cars it mixes with, the rating has to decrease. The bar has been risen - the Corrado hasn't dropped in ability.

Demos normally have all the toys that might appeal to the mass market - like a showhome on a new housing development. The alternative is that they might be specced up to suit the sales manager for three months or if a customer has requested it. My VXT was an ex-demo and it had every single extra on it. Bought it when it was a few months old and it felt a lot more tired than my old VX which had done 8k miles when I bought it. I'd always be more wary about a sports car demonstrator than a luxury/prestige motor. Different purchasing factors. Today on a Corrado, it won't make an ounce of difference - might in actual fact add a little kudos, especially if the car still retains the original dealer plates. As hinted at in the thread, I'd like to see how many of the press Corrados are still around...

Gutted for you mate - can't imagine how I'd feel...especially as the car has been in the family so long. Will keep an eye out for it in the west country. Out of interest, did they hot wire it or did they break in the house to get the keys? All the best in finding the car / culprits.

Welcome to the club. Seems like you got a real deal on your Corrado. Can vouch for the Lupo wipers which are available through this site. They make up the sum total of the mods I'm planning for my VR6, but they make a huge difference. Enjoy.

Most people have their own favourite - probably best to try a few and see what suits you. I've always used Concept carnauba wax. Really easy to apply, doesn't leave a residue and removes fine scratches. Bonus is that it doesn't matter if you get some on plastic trim or lights - it actually leaves a nice film on them, just like the paint. Really good stuff, but I'm sure you'll get other recommendations!
-
One polish should do the trick, then you'll need to apply wax. This will seal the paint and after a few more layers will help to keep it fade-free. Mine is responding well to waxing and after the third full wax it is almost how it should be! A friend of mine put some Auto Glym high gloss protection on his red VX and left it on for a whole weekend before removing it. The shine was amazing! 8)

Welcome Tom! As a new owner myself, let me say that four weeks in, the novelty factor still hasn't worn off...

Corrado is 'Shed of the Week' on pistonheads

The PH write-up is quite good though isn't it? Comments aren't that negative really - just realistic about the £100 to MOT issue. Corrado = Shed...Hmmmm.... -
Welcome along! Hurry up with the pics, just don't beat me to it as I haven't done mine yet!

Yeah, another vote for Micheldever. When I had my Racing Puma they fitted new tyres and did the setup for me. Treated the car with respect, good pricing and lots of knowledge passed on. If you're within an hour of them I'd recommend them as their prices are very good. Nice driving roads around there too!
-
Interestingly they're both featured in the current issue of Classic Cars magazine. Small piece on buying coupes of the nineties. Both get good reviews, although the GTV gets a full page and the VR6 only half! :) Gotta say, the interior on the GTV is wonderful, but the overall package of the Corrado is better (IMHO).

So how old do you have to be to look a 'little silly'....

Don't worry about people selling up! There's plenty of people like me who are new to the Corrado and will keep the enthusiasm alive! -

The MK1 Scirocco - one of my all time favourite cars! When I was 18 and at college, I was offered a MK1 Storm for £300. The £3000 insurance premium put me off buying it. Stupid decision. Should have bought it and stored it away. D'oh. -

33 next year and no plans to EVER get a boring sensible car. When I see dull rep mobiles, people carriers, 4x4s and the like, I'm even more inclined to stick with sporting and exciting cars. I bought my Rado from an elderly gentleman - proof that you're never too old for a Rado! -
Cheers Craig - seems there are quite a few to choose from, which is more than can be said of Dartmoor!!!! Have registered on Tidy Vag and will try and get along to the next meet. Looks like an enthusiastic and friendly bunch of Dub people! I see you're from Christchurch? My old hunting ground - just moved down from Barton-on-Sea last year and worked in Bournemouth for six years. Miss the area sometimes, but don't miss the traffic! See you soon.

The MPG on the VR is amazing. I reguarly do a 220 mile round trip to Poole and my old Accord Type-R was just terribe on long runs. Sat just under 80, it is revving at 4.5k - not too efficient. Only getting 260 miles out of a 50 litre tank of V-Power. Drove the VR6 to Poole for the first time last week - 33mpg there and back! Will hopefully improve again after her service on Thursday. She's been sat in a garage for 8 months, so needs a bit of bringing back to life slowly! Just two weeks in and loving the Rado!

 I used to have a vRS (very capable car!). It was amazing the amount of times drivers would edge past me on the motorway, just in case I was an unmarked copper! There were quite a few in Hampshire where I used to live, so that might have something to do with it! Thought the 'Ring sticker on the back would be a giveaway to be honest!!

Hi Craig, Apologies for dragging up such an old post, but just wondering which garage you eventually settled on? I've got my VR booked in at Breeze for the 100k service on Thursday, but would be happy to cancel and put my business elsewhere if you can recommend anyone? Shame Autotechnik aren't in Southampton anymore as they used to take great care of my Rallye. :(

Evo magazine has been refreshed this month - actually looks better than before in my opinion. One thing they have done is taken a new look at the Knowledge and re-done the star ratings. The result being that the Corrado VR6 now has 4.5 stars and not 5. Whereas they used to put 'Er' next to minus points, they now list the car as being a 'little nose heavy'. Wonder if this has anything to do with the FWD group test they did last year? My previous car, the Accord Type-R has also lost half a star! Nice feature on the Stelvio pass though!
