Regulators/brushes are only about a tenner so i'd say replace it if it's being returned. You can get them off eBay easy enough.
-
Anyone ?
-
A fiver says it's LC3Y Bordeaux red. If it was any other special colour it would be listed as SK99 (special order code) on the boot sticker. Still curious to find out though.

Deleting old pms from my inbox and deleted an unread recent one by mistake. Didn't see who it was from, sorry, ooops. Pm me again please. That is unless a mod can help ??? Ps: for some reason, I noticed the date of the pm was from 1970 ???

Think it was a mk3 colour. Not seen it on Corrado lists. Closest is either Bordeaux red or sherry pearl.

I'm just off the M6, outside of Wigan so not too far away. The interior is in the classifieds section. Let me know if you need some more pictures. It's a late interior though. There's loads of advice in the search. It's helped me out a lot. Try eBay for an alternator. Or even give Dubhaus vw breakers a ring, they're not too far from you. I've used them a bit in the past.

Sounds like you've got your hands full there ! Most of what you mention has been covered before. Have a look through the search. I've got a full interior for sale, and don't want a lot for it either. Where are you based ? Let's have some pictures as well.

Guess what America we love you...

Sweet lord. You could have bought a proper car for that ! I am but a mere child, covering a modest seven years ownership. Think of all the good times and enjoyment that that money has bought you though. Here's to the next 15. Happy days indeed Paul, Happy days indeed.

I only had mine apart the other day and thought of moving up to LED. Got a couple of free periods tomorrow, so that's my morning stitched up nicely. Cheers

Got fed up muddling round with my desktop mac, so bought a cheap laptop to run it specifically. It's got the Bentley CD rom on as well. Keep it in the garage for when it's needed.

Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)
James. replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
That's the beauty of the original paint. It's that hard, all it needs is a wet sand and good mop to bring it back to life. I was astonished when my detailing friend went over the dull bodywork of the 8V. The pearl really "pops" now. You can really see the depth of the pearl in your paint now. Manchester detailing mafia in the house ! -
They're real peachy. Love the diamond cut against the black. They'll make the car "pop" when the sun finally shows up. Make sure you throw some pictures this way when they're bolted on.

Seriously, save yourself a lot of time and money by fabricating some new ones. a bit of plate steel, powder coated/painted with alternative switches slotted in is your best bet. As Andy said, he had to import some seats to get the trim ! Unfortunately they just don't turn up as spares.
-
For everyday use I'd go 16's. All about personal preference though ( and how low you car is already ).
-
Kudos for saving it from the breakers. Has he got anymore Corrados sat around with Recaros in then ! Don't think I've ever seen a 16 valve with Recaro leather and Air con before. Nice work.

Ask and though shalt receive (excuse the quick photoshop job).

We get early 40's no problem on the motorway. Sometimes creeping up to 45, but usually around the 44 mark. Commute wise averages out about 33, but by the time I'm getting to work the engine has only just run up to temp. Yeah I'm running 195's. Thought about putting the left over 205's from the VR on when they run out but fortunately that idea's been canned, as I'll be jumping straight into 16's by then. Still 195's, but just as well by what you say. Are they really that bad economy wise ? Guess it's 205's for handling/grip then.

Proud of the old boy once more. Took my little boy to see the giant alloy birds at Manchester airport today. Performed faultless and returned a quite exceptional 47.1MPG!!! Parked him up at home and treated him to a couple of minor fettles. Rear heat shield. The exhaust shield mount had corroded through and it was resting on the exhaust. Fabricated a new piece and put it back in place. Passenger door card. Had developed a really annoying rattle so dropped the card off and felt taped up pretty much everything. Passenger front camber. Front tyre was wearing a little on the outer edge, so straightened it up a little. Drivers door striker. Seemed to catch when closing. Now it doesn't. Rear window. Seems to mist up all the time. Investigated and found that the rust I know about from the outside, is much worse on the inside. Fortunately I have an almost perfect sherry pearl boot in the garage. Hooray ! ( which will turn to booos when I have to swap the spoiler mech over). Interior light. Drivers door won't stay on. After a brief wiggle, it seems to need a clean up. A job for another day methinks. Still made up with that MPG though.

I'm feeling that too. Really clean. I like this a lot.

I wondered when this would pop up on here. Welcome to the forum by the way. I guess you've priced up getting it back to a good standard then. I looked at this when it was on the bay and although the seller wasn't going to give it away, it had to be (very) cheap for it to be worth a punt. Fact is, it needs an enthusiast/masochist to get it to where it needs to be. Seems a shame, but to me this is one of those that has just gone too far. Unless it's just patched up and used as a knock about. Best of luck with whatever you decide. James PS: I take it you're in the north west ?
-
Like buses eh ? Thanks Jay. I've heard of the sniper software but am yet to investigate further. Probably because I don't buy that much. They really are a bit special aren't they. A bit too nice for my car perhaps. I think I'm going to stick with the Borbets now thanks Andy. I've done a lot of thinking over the past few days and would be just too bothered about them being nicked or damaged, and leaving the family stranded miles from home. The Borbets I got really cheap, so they don't worry me quite so much. Thanks for keeping me in mind though. Very kind of you. All the best, James

Always good to have another in the north west. Paint looks in good order and it'll be good to see the leather. Glad to hear you're handy with the spanners as well. Any other plans ?
