  1. by the time you get yours finished i should hopefully have got round to turning my boost up, so we'll have to get them on the track and sort the men from the boys! good to hear you've got the foam through at last, loved looking at the seats when i was down there. it's almost theraputic putting seats together isn't it?! by the way, any time i'm down to see you and you fancy takng the evo out for another quick blast it's always there for you :D
  2. guess that's what you get for being such a loveable character! :luvlove:  glad you're happy pal. i had a drive in a rado on the weekend for the first time in a while - very nostalgic moment for me. i miss my corrado at least my new car is still putting a smile on my face :)
  3. You're not kidding! When I followed you back from Stealth the acceleration wasn't proportional to the amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust  that's what happens when you buy something that runs on "tractor fluid" though! hope you get BOTH problems squared asap Rob - F'in cars!!! btw - it's unlikely if you're getting loads of smoke, but it could be that the DPF filter in the exhaust has got clogged - VAG-doc was having terrible arguements with the dealers over similar problems with his van. if yours is intermittent though then it's probably not that. got any error codes for us? oh, and yes - it's a nice daily :D
  4.   c'mon toady - post up and let us all know how your day went and how happy you are!... hows my running gear etc all holding out for you; should be nice and "TOIGHT!" - as much as a tiger anyway... really pleased for you it's passed - must be a lovely change driving a "proper" corrado around for a change! :norty:
  5. car is looking really good matey - you must be really happy with progress. sorry to hear about the running issues, sure you'll be it sorted. by the way - you don't need reversing lights to pass an MOT :D
  6. unless you're planning on carrying stuff in the boot and/or people round all the time that's just too much for the rear - the original bias adjuster almost certainly won't dial enough out to have the car braking as it should. they look lovely, but it's going to be too much for a rado considering how light they are on the rear end (no 4wd system, nobody ever sits in the back and hardly any overhang over the rear beam). i'm sure you must know a friendly MOT tester who can get it on his brak rollers and tell you what the bias front to rear is. also before you do that, checkif that will damage the peloquin. afaik, peloquins/quaifes are fine to put on the brake rollers and it won't damage them unlike other types of lsd; but i would check that and get it in writing before you do... that said, people on here have been after a solution to do away with the horrible nasty original rear bearings for a while and get an arrangement to fit a nicer sealed cartridge bearing that you press in. if you could run something like 288's on the rear and 2-pots instead of 4, that would probably be a fair bit more realistic... do tell what hubs etc you're running for that setup. also what does it do for the offset? all the above said i'm not trying to criticise your work at all; the car is looking outstanding thus far and it's a real credit to you seeing the care/attention and time that you're putting in. please do keep us all posted as it progresses :D  (also not tying to capitalise here, but i'm shortly going to be selling a set of evo 6 brembos. they have massive 4-pot fronts (much bigger than the ones you'll find on a leon) and 2-pot rears. they work perfect but have turned pink with age/heat. i'm only looking for circa £150 for all 4 calipers, so drop me a PM if you're interested. if not i'll sell them on the lancer register)
  7. that's cool - i PM'd him about it a while ago and was surprised that nothing had been done about it yet. i'm not surprised it moves around a lot! it's surprisingly thin considering what it is. just see if he can get it fitted easily now. as far as i remember, you can't get it on without taking the inlet manifold off and you also can't get the manifold off and then back on easily without taking the pas/alternator bracket off (due to bolt clearances etc), which also means taking the alternator and PAS pump back off too! see how you get on - the joys of corrado ownership!!! good man Karl - they are probably horrific prices from the stealers
  8. great to hear it's finally there (near enough) pal - good for you. i'll defo give you a ring next time i'm down in salisbury - we can meet up and you have a go in the evo! :norty:
  9. no mate - mine was bespoke to allow me to run both cats, just like in the mk5 - check out my old build thread if you wanna c a pic! :) there are a few piccies from this page forwards - viewtopic.php?f=11&t=62901&start=75
  10. haha - nice! and yes, mine was defo out of a mk5 Hmm that is strange how yours worked with a different pedal  We have tried a diesel pedal (1k2721503M) and an S3 pedal (can't remember the part number, think it was same but with J on the end) and neither of them worked. We checked all 6 pedal wires back to the ecu plug and all checked out ok so it HAS to be the pedal causing the problem. Yeah I'll move the FPR at some point, got plenty of time off after tomorrow so will be one of my 'to do' jobs  Cheers for the offer on the cats, i'll pass at the min though, sod the environment  liking the environment attitude a lot! just spoken with Kev actaully and i'm still a bit baffled as to the pedal. the only things i can think of are you may have a slightly different ecu to mine (there were a stupid amount of subtle variations in a short space of time) and/or there's a difference between the a3 wiring and the mk5. whatever it is though, it's not going to be anything major. keep us apdated pal - always like seeing how things are coming along :D
  11. that's all looking nice sam - tastefully done as well which is nice to see! have you got an ETA yet on completion? just to let you know by the way pal, i have an absolutely mint set of mk5 cats for sale if they're any use to you... was after £100
  12. looks and sounds very nice Ben. i would still get that heatshield above the exhasut back on. not only is it going to help get rid of heat, but those plastic intake manifolds are pretty flimsy and are known for cracking - they need all the support they can get. mine used to flex when you suddenly gave it wide open throttle, i'm guessing yours probably does the same, so you know what i mean... edit - also my downpipe sounded like it was blowing just a tiny tiny bit from somewhere, but i never got to finding out where. forgot to check when it came off the car, but there was nothing obvious that's for sure
  13. that's strange about the pedal pal (and apologies for any confusion with the part number) - mine worked with one that was defo NOT an r32 pedal... bay is looking good pal - i would mount the FPR on the strut top rather than the engine though, as according to a guy who works in a hydraulics/fluid transfer place and knowshis stuff, its better to mount them somewhere like that with less vibration especially seeing as you're running the gauge on it... also, if you're interested at any point - i've got an absolutely mint set of the mk5 r32 cats with the nice long flexis etc if you ever decide to be kind to the environment! looking for £100 sheets for those...
  14. how did you get on with the whole pedal saga pal?
  15. looking good there pal as usual. is that you back from the states now then? - if so, how did it all go??? will hopefully be down your neck of the woods either this coming weekend or the weekend after, so i'll defo pop in and tip my hat if you're going to be about... (also there's a evo driving ticket with your name on it! :D)
  16. fair one with the gearbox - can't you get the o2s in 6spd 2wd variant (or at least something similar) - NormanCoal had one for sale on here a while back... that said, you'll probably want to look at a 4wd conversion when running that sort of power - hey ho; at least those are GOOD problems! as for mine i'm after a gt40, not 42 - get your facts right! i saved a fair bit on the prices of parts for my r32 conversion by waiting and looking over the 6 months i was away, so that's all i'm doing now - playing the watching and waiting game - there are always really good bargains that come up if you're prepared to wait, so that's what i'm doing - i'm in no hurry at the moment... sorry to be a bit boring, but i guess slowly slowly catches the monkey! edit - if oyu want an update, the stroker crank is currently off being crack tested as we speak - i'll keep you posted :D
  17. hey pal, glad to see it's coming along, car is looking good - not long now! :D by the way - my shell is now going for free, i remember you were pondering it - it's all yours if you want to come and collect it... keep us posted pal :)
  18. hey Kev - careful there, you may be running hideous power, but i've got a feeling you might like the way the r32 drives in a corrado  on the subject - when ARE we going to see your 2.8 24v turbo project? or have you just been doing it on the sly and not telling anyone?!
  19. hi Rob, glad it's more or less all sorted pal. with mine the pedal was wired in direct to the throttle body etc without going through the fuse board as far as i can remember. also afaik, the mk5 dbw pedals are different for petrol and diesel cars. i don't think there are any other differences (i.e a petrol pedal will fit all petrol cars and vice-versa with a diesel item). and yes, as kev says, the vacuum box thingy goes on the front on the inlet - there are a couple of lugs it locates into. it controls the variable inlet plenum via a vacuum actuator on the end of the inlet. i think i had one spare vacuum line on the back of my inlet and i just blocked it up, job done.
  20. hey pal, evo is going reasonably well at the moment ta. it's had a full service and ALL fluids changed recently save the brake/clutch fluid. i've got warped discs and my calipers have faded and are now pink from previous shennanigans which got them hot before i owned the car. i've got a set of much nicer replacement calipers and discs/pads all round which wil be going on at some point before long. it's also just had new bearings and new track rod ends. one slightly annoying thing - i'm running some wheels off an evo 9 whih IMO look the business. however, they have made the car slightly skittish. the evo 7,8,9's have got a slightly different offset to the earlier ones. the earlier evos handle beautifully and are really "tippy-toe"; just a very slight movement of the wheel translates to a very noticable movement on the road, it's really nice actually. however the offset of the wheels i'm running and the fact they have got 235/45 instead of the factory 225/45 tyresmakes them quite keen to tramline/bump-steer etc. so i think i'll be having to refurb and re-tyre the original wheels sooner than i thought... anyway, below are a couple of pics of how it looks at the moment now without the hideous stickers! -
  21. hs to be said - i'm surprised the konigsegg ccx hasn't made it's way onto this list yet... it is after all supposed to be "the other car" if you are already lucky enough to own a veyron!
  22. mine was gel-filled, the guy said it would still be better to mount it where there was less vibration. the gel is obviously there to help dampen the vibrtions, but if you can mitigate them just by mounting the gauge somewhere else (which shouldn't be a difficult job at theend of the day), then that's got to be better. not saying you're wrong at all - but why not do it as nicely as possible the first time - longevity and all that...
  23. that's good advice - take heed all those after a cooler setup!
  24. i had a gauge on my after-market fuel pressure regulator that i needed to run my r32. a guy who worked in a hydraulics place and really knew his onions about gauges/hoses/fittings etc said that gauges don't like vibration. originally i was going to mount the pressure reg with the gauge in it on the side of the engine; but i ended up mounting it on the strut thank to the advice of this guy. if you can mount the gauge somewhere solid, that would be best :D
  25. sounds like it could be the drop links pal...
