I know this is slightly off topic but can you re-map a standard vr6 to squeeze a bit more out of it? Once I finish all that needs doing on my vr I would be quite keen on going to Stealth to see what they can do. Rich

Alright mate, I will pop to the local breakers and have a look just in case and let you know. Cheers for being honest. Rich
-
Ok I will take it in it's present state and clean it up and hammerite it myself. I am going to have to sort a courier out for it as it is a bit of a trek to collect in person. Do you have any idea how much it weighs?
-
Which garage?
-
Bloody hell mate sorry to hear that, was it outside your house? I will keep my eyes open around Cardiff!! What have the police said about it?
-
Also please can someone confirm that this will fit straight on to a vr6 without any issues? Cheers Rich

I wouldn't know where to start! £40?
-
Nice one, how much do you want for it? Now it is split from the cross member would you be able to post it?
-
I see what you mean, that is the bit I need. Would you be willing to split them? The cross member isn't much use to me if the engine mount placement is different. Rich
-
Can you buy a replacement for that rusty sheet separate? Is it the £175 part mentioned in the earlier post?
-
No it is for a 93 vr6, does that make a difference? I know the cross member is the bar that runs parallel to the bumper but does it also incorporate all the the thin metal in front of it? Thats the piece I need, as you can see from the pics it is almost non-existent on my car. Rich
-
Is that what it is? That could kill two birds with one stone as the bumper is stuck on because I have snapped a bolt in the current cross member. I would definitely be interested if you have a spare one, what sort of condition is it in? How much do you want for it and would you be willing to post? Rich

Well after almost a year I have finally got around to tring to sort the rust behind the front bumper. As you can see from the pics it is very bad :pale: . Has anyone got the part code or part name for the piece that needs replacing? I will need the metal strip that joins the spoiler to the bumper as well.
-
Yeah one of the 4 x 17mm bolts that go into the cross member. They were stuck solid and one of them ended up shearing half way down the shaft where the thread starts. Problem is the remainder of the bolt is now stuck in the crossmember and I can't remove the bumper until I get it out!
-
Yeah I was going ok until I snapped that bolt in the cross member, now I need to get the spoiler off to give me more room. You should see the state of the rust behind the bumper, it is shocking, basically a massive hole surrounded by jagged rusty edges. I am gutted!
-
Yeah nice one, help is always appreciated.
-
Great I will have a crack at that tomorrow. Cheers Rich

Does it come away from the car or toward the car?
-
That is genius, I really wish it was a video though. I would have loved to see if they realised or not!
-
I have no idea! Where is that to?
-
Sorry I have done a search and can't find a guide anywhere. I have removed all bolts from underside of the chin spoiler but I still wont come off, is there a particular way it has to be done? The problem I have is that it is so rusted behind the bumper that if you try and pull the spoiler off all the metal around it flexes as if it is about to fall to pieces. Any help appreciated!
-
I can just about see it but it is a long way in, don't think welding on to it is going to be an option unfortuantely.
-
I am taking the front bumper off my vr6 to assess just how bad the rust is behind it and one of the bolts has sheared off inside the cross member!! Any one got any ideas on how I can get it out?? Rich

The current s3 is a 2.0 TFSI kicking out just under 270 bhp and that has a 0 - 60 of 5.5 (parkers) so low 5's is certainly achievable especially if it does have the 4wd from the s3. So basically if it has the same performance and driver satisfaction as the new s3 but costs a couple of grand less I reckon it could be a winner  Just my opinion of course! 8)

My dad has got one of these cards and the savings he makes are huge. Also Halfords price match (at least our local one does) so even if you don't have a card you don't have to pay over the odds. Rich
