No thats because I live in Cardiff now, my parents still live down in Llantrisant so I do take the C down there now and then (not so much with this weather though). I know where by you mean on Manor Chase, I used to live on Cwrt Y Garth. I know a couple of blokes who live up around your street as well. If I see you around I will be sure to give you a wave. Keep up the good work with the motor. Rich

I live in Birchgrove, Cardiff now, but am from Llantrisant. Had no idea there were so many other C's in that area, I have never seen one! -
I live in Cardiff, I have a Green K reg VR6. I see quite a few around and have exchanged waves with a couple of people but not sure if they visit this site. Mine is sat on the drive at the moment though because I can't drive it if there is any chance of the windscreen getting dirty or it raining because my wipers are so sh*t!

Did you supply all parts yourself and they do the fabrication work for you? How much did they charge you for the fabrication and fitting?
-
They look more offset than that, i will have to take another look tomorrow.
-
Hi, I have just started replacing the droplinks on my 93 vr6 and I have noticed that the new ones are offset but the ones I am replacing are straight. Have I bought the wrong ones or are the originals wrong? Cheers Rich

Well I have had the car back and it wasn't that bad in the end. In fairness they did me quite a few favours on the job and it came out at £704, strange how I am actually relieved at spending £700+ on a garage bill! Car feels much better, makes me realise how out of shape it was. Got to take it back this morning though because after they made adjustments to the gear selection I have lost 5th! Doh!!

It is in N&G Motors, Cardiff which is a independent specialist VW garage. Cheaper than the main dealer and take more pride in their work. Most of the specialist garages can't afford to do a bad job or charge too much because their business relies so much on a good reputation and word of mouth.
-
I appreciate this does happen but I do trust the garage I take it to, I wouldn't take it there if I didn't. They have been great in the past and they gave me the option of whether I wanted the work done or not. I would rather they do it the the main stealer or a 2-bit garage that is used to working on Kev'd up Corsa's and Fiesta's.

I think the only thing that keeps me going is seeing other people spend 16k+ on cars with similar performance that everyone else has got. I like to think we are unique in our car choice no matter which flavour C we own. I almost feel proud!!

Cheers Boost Monkey that is a very handy list. I have got quite a bit of that stuff.
-
Yeah I see what you mean. For the time being I will stick to jobs that only require basic tools and then build my tool collection as I build my knowledge.
-
What sort of tools? Specialist VW ones? I have got a good spanner set, socket set and other odds and sods.
-
Right I am going to get one and start doing more work myself :salute:
-
If only Haynes made a Corrado manual. I guess I wil just have to bite the bullet and fork out on a Bentley manual.
-
I will try harder! I have always worked on my cars but I find something about the VR daunting :pale:
-
I do agree with you but it is a time issue when you use the car as a daily drive as well. I have't got room in my garage so I have to work on the drive and sod doing that in this weather. Plus a work away quite a bit so that makes it even more difficult. Maybe I could start bringing my C to you instead of the VW specialist! :)
-
Nice to see they are doing a good job keeping you informed and actually asking for your knowledge with regards to the brakes rather than just botching them! Labour is definitely the killer but if they do a good job it softens the blow......very slightly!

15k deposit, I wonder if that is 10% of the total cost.
-
Ha yeah I will send you a cutting in the post! :D
-
Cheers mate, I had a 205 GTi before this and I thought that was expensive with it's constant faults and problems but that just pales in comparison.
-
Yeah, they are the only people I trust around here (thanks for the recommendation by the way). They were good as gold on the phone, I guess it is their equivalent of a neighbour telling you they have run over your cat. I told them to keep it in as long as necessary and make sure everything is spot on. I don't think I am going to see much change from a £1k if they have found all those problems in just 2 hours. :(
-
Put my VR into the local VW specialist for a couple of little jobs and a full service this morning and I have just had a phone call off them give me a list of problems that was so long I thought I was listening to a story tape! £300 has just rocketed to £800 in a matter of 2 hours, and it could still rise. I think a C is bad choice for a daily drive! Sorry to vent on here but it was either that or I throw myself out of the window (it is raining outside so I don't fancy that).
