Anyone? I need to know by morning so I can get the fluid and sort the car for a weekend of camping :)
-
Before I go to my local VW dealer and pay through my big nose, please can someone tell me what fluid to use and the best place to get it from. Cheers Rich
-
Do I need a specific fluid? Does it come in different grades like oil?
-
Gutted, I knew it wasn't going to be as easy as I expected.
-
Right so I have now realised it is the powersteering fluid pipe that goes through the radiator support. I assume there is no way of removing the support without disconnecting the power steering and draining the fluid? Rich

I have removed the cross member and now want to remove the rad support. There is a pipe the comes from the bottom of rad and through the rad support which is stopping me from removing it. Any tips on what to do next?

Anyone?

Changing the ignition switch made no difference. I put a tester on the live lead going to the solenoid on the starter and go was getting 8v on turnover. Is that enough juice?
-
Has anyone got any photos relating to changing the ignition switch. I am following the wiki but because I have no idea where the ignition switch is or what it looks like I am struggling a bit. Ignore me, just found a photo attached to a link on the wiki. Rich

I don't think the issue is the immobiliser on mine because I can bump start it. I am going to change the ignition switch anyway because it is cheap!
-
Right starting problem has now gone from intermittent to permanent. I had the battery tested and it is working fine. If the ignition switch is the problem would the fuel pump kick in ok? It seems everything is working apart from the engine turning over. I tried giving the starter a tap with a hammer and it worked once but not since.

Where would I find the crank sensor plug on the engine? I may give mine a bit of a clean up. Rich -
Cheers for the info guys. I am not sure how old the battery is, I have had the car 3 years and never replaced it. Maybe it is time for a new one. The buzzing comes from the front of the car on the right hand side of the engine, is this where the cold start valve is?
-
Right I am having some issues with my vr6. Started a couple of months back out of the blue and has been pretty constant since. I have done a search and am thinking it could be the starter motor but not sure if there is also something else not right. Quite often when I turn the key nothing at all happens. All dash lights are on and the immobiliser is dis-armed. I can hear a buzzing but the engine doesn't even attempt to turn over. I can keep turning the key for a while and it may start but where as before it used to fire up immediately now it takes longer turning over and sounds weak. Another thing that happens is the car seems to miss as I am driving. When I stick my foot down it can sometimes drop power dramatically before picking back up again. I am not sure if all these problems are linked but it would be good if they were! Rich

Those spacers look like he has lopped the ends of a set of dumbells and drilled holes in them  I have to be honest though show car or not I just don't see the point

What are the three bits, if I ask for the wiper mechanism will I get all three? Is it a tricky job? Rich
-
I bought some TT wipers off the forum last week and fitted them yesterday. All went well and they work great. I have noticed though that the drivers side wiper comes away from the screen completely on the down stroke. The whole mechanism under the scuttle panel moves as if something is twisted. Is this a common problem? Is there an obvious fix? Rich

Black/Blue C driving down Western Avenue in Cardiff around lunchtime yesterday, M*** BGH. Looked in good nick. Also seen a green J reg vr driving down Heathwood Rd one night last week, a girl with dark hair driving it. Seeing a lot around Cardiff recently.

Two spots around Swansea this morning, first was a bordeaux? C going East bound on the M4 around junction 44. Second was a aqua blue? C driving along the A4067 in the opposite direction to the Liberty Stadium, had a private plate A19 *** and tinted rears.

Big thanks to Veedub21 - enjoyed a nice drive down to Lee-on-Solent this morning to pick up a metal valance, and cross member from him and he was good enough to give it to me for free and throw in a fixing bolt ! Top bloke, same goes for his old man as well. Cheers both Rich
