  1. Yeah, I'm not going to lie, the running costs are the main thing for the 2nd hand prices for Jags. My family used it the other day for a someone's wedding and had to stick £70 worth of petrol in it!! Luckily mine is 'only' a 2900cc engine, so (for a petrol Jag) its fairly economical.
  2. Right...so I'll just get one from Volkswagen next week. Anyone know what fuse or relay controls the water temp? I'll replace that too.
  3. Looks like I need one of these too. Anyone got any idea where to get one from in the UK?
  4. Anyone know where i can get one for a late-model Corrado? I e-mailed Awesome but they didn't get back to me. :( What a waste of £25!
  5. Unfortunately, it looks as though I'm going to have to sell my car. Basically, my Volkswagen Corrado VR6's gearbox and clutch are on their last legs and gearbox rebuilds simply don't come cheap. Plus, my wifes daily a horrible French Peugeot 406 is about to cost me £360+ ( :x ) mainly because its French probably. I only drive my Jaguar whenever I'm back in the UK, it doesn't get much use, and I've only done about 3-400 miles in it. Last time I checked the car has done about 105,000miles and has full Jaguar/Aston Martin dealer history and a folder full of paperwork. It was owned by my Grandfather who had it for as long as I can remember before me and hardly ever drove it. I can't bring it over to Germany as despite having the luxury of having tax free fuel, at 19MPG the the Jag would kill me, driving my Corrado is bad enough! Plus I'd have to TUV it, get LHD headlights etc etc... So, what it is it worth? I realise its not the big engine, nor does it have leather seats, but its in very good condition, no knocks, or rattles...and it appears to have a few nice options like climate control and electric seats. I've not done anything to it (just ordered a new gearknob). I must stress that these photos were taken in April before I had a chance to spend hours cleaning it
  6. Good reviews dude. I'd do horrible disgusting things to be able to own most of those cars. :D
  7. I've decided to fit my mates Passat VR6 gearbox to my car (and hope to God that the ratio's are the same) for the time being, buy a new clutch and new slave cylinder thing from Vindis Volkswagen in Cambridge when I'm back in the UK next week. In the meantime, I'm going to have to sell my beloved Jaguar XJ6 to help pay for my gearbox rebuild. Gutted. :(
  8. Anyone know if the Passat VR6 gearbox has the same ratio's of that in a Corrado VR6? Think I'm also going to replace the clutch at the same time. :(
  9. *************spits drink all over laptop!*********** why not get a used know working box? Send the box to me and i will rebuild it for you..... Yeah, it did seem expensive. They're is a place about 2hrs away from me in Holland who rebuilds gearboxes, but whats the average cost for rebuilding a standard VR6 gearbox? The Passat gearbox I've been offered has done about 150,000km's. As for my own gearbox, the oil was changed in June. I believe that the oil in the gearbox is supposed to be for life, but there is no harm in changing it really - especially as most Corrado's are at least 15 years old now.
  10. Both rear wheel bearings replaced... Got the car back from Volkswagen today and they say that its either: 1. The drivers side driveshaft that connects to the gearbox, however, they're unsure as a driveshaft fault would make a 'heavier/more clunky' noise. 2. The gearbox is about to die and a bearing in the gearbox needs replacing. They offered me a replacement gearbox for about £1550 including fitting or my mate has offered me his Passat VR6 gearbox (are they the same?!) for 50 Euros. How much does it cost to get these things refurbished?!
  11. I fitted those on saturday and realised they slide off :D after ages yanking on them. Looks loads better now. Where did you guys get them? Are they easy to fit?
  12. My VR6 sounds great, does 147mph top end - legally - and has great power delivery. What do I win? :confused4:
  13. Hmmm...£20 making THAT much difference? :gag:
  14. http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.ph ... 87&xSec=86 I bought the above item from Awesome GTi...and it doesn't fit my 1995 Corrado, not even nearly. Has anyone ever fitted one? Do I need to buy this item to in order for it to fit? http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.ph ... 38&xSec=86
  15. Bought the 3 temp sensors (blue, yellow black), but they no longer do the yellow one, so I've got two black ones...hope they work :confused4: Plus Volkswagen are changing the wheel bearing that they replaced which only lasted about 2 weeks and re-doing the tracking all for free :D
  16. I'd be interested in this too.
  17. Change of plans - going SUNDAY, not Saturday now.
  18. Headlights cost me £300ish in October 2007, 2 x sets of H7 Phillips bulbs cost me about £50ish about 6 months ago.
  19. Hi Chaps, Basically, what are my ABT Inpro headlights worth? I've still got the boxes they came with and the standard H7 bulbs have been upgraded with these - http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/p ... power.html - with 2 bulbs per headlight. I'm only thinking of changing as a scrapyard near me has got some standard LHD headlights, so I reckon I might whack them in the car! Pictures/info on request.
  20. Changed both rear wheel bearings...and its still making a funny noise!!! :censored:
  21. Looks as though I'm going down on the Saturday with my mate in his modified Mk2 Golf (if his gearbox rebuild is complete). Hopefully I'll see other plucky Brits there and we'll come and say hello. I'm pretty sure I know the basics (i.e. don't brake/change gear round corners, look at the limit point etc etc), but does anyone have any tips specific for the 'ring? Cheers.
  22. Hi Stu, Still very happy with my shift light, my mate with a modified Mk2 Golf might fancy one in his, are you able to do this?
  23. I'd simply love to own one of these, however the Corrado seems to be costing me about almost 200 Euros per month at the moment, so I can only imagine the utterly spastic running costs of such a car would make me think twice, let alone the wife!
  24. Looks like its both rear wheel bearings :censored: I've just had both front ones replaced! Am ordering the parts through Volkswagen Monday, hope I can get them fitted before I go round the 'ring Saturday!
  25. Dude, I've bought a coiple of these of eBay for a few dollars. Look exactly the same and fit perfectly. :(
