I tend to check pistonheads/autotrader often, and I remember it being £15,000. What the fuck is it doing with standard brakes?! There should be some law against that, or at least not letting it pass an MOT until it has some 'proper' brakes to cope with the difference in power. Shocking. :?

Apart from adding a little colour to the engine bay, and be expensive...do these leads actually do anything for the car that OEM leads wont? :?

Exhaust rattle *UPDATED* Anyone heard of Bastuck?
MonkeyVR6 replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in Engine Bay
Finally got round to having the exhaust sorted :) Went to HG Tuning in Paderbourn and got them to put the car up in the air so they could see what new exhaust I needed and if I need a new cat... http://www.hg-tuning-paderborn.de/index_main.htm After ze Germans had a good look, and being Germans they topped up my windscreen washer fluid, checked my oil, brake fluid, my coolant and the -35 temp its ok to, my brakes, my tyres, my suspension they told me the head shield thats over my cat was loose, so they replaced the screws and welded it back into place...all this was done for €10 (£6.50 in real money)! And this wasn't some back street place either! So I get to keep the best possible exhaust for the Corrado - the standard VW one! I've also arranged to get some tyres there soon, but thats a different post. 8) -
Cheers for the headup, but unfortunately I dont have the tools, or ability to make any kind of MDF adaptor plate here in Germany. I'd rather just buy 2nd hand standard Corrado VR6 speakers, or just buy some reasonable 6 x 4 speakers off t'internet. Thanks for the headsup though.

No private roads here mate - we have Autobahns 8)

I have no idea what ramair effect is?! ...but I do know that I can quie happily, and do often, achieve a GPS 147mph.

Well, as promised I've now fitted the Pipercross VR6 induction kit to my car and heres my finding. It looked the best bet for £70 after the bits and pieces I read. So the box arrived with fairly simple, yet vague fitting instuctions and a 'L'-shaped bracket to hold the filter up and the actual filter itself with some cleaning oil. Removing the old air box is a straight forward affair, and it was surprising to see how dirty the standard air filter was! To start the bracket doesn't fit, not even bloody nearly... So thank god for Army engineers, I get the bracket holes filled and drilled to make them longer is seemingly all directions, then bend the bracket out a bit so its at a more obtuse angle. So finally after a bit of heath robinson with the bracket fitting it to the suspension strut thing, its then pretty simple to attach the actual filter to the existing 'arm' that was originally attached to the standard air box. Its still not the best fit, so with a loss of patience I find the biggest cable tie I can find and wrap it round the bracket and the metal arm of the filter - its now going nowhere. As soon as you drive the car the noise is instantly noticeable, especially at when you hit the loud pedal hard. It can be a bit annoying if you're constantly accelerating at Autobahn speeds, but its worth it, it gives the car a real presence. Now, the question of it actually being faster...well, I'm not sure it is really. It feels a bit more responsive and feels faster, but I doubt it really is, but thats not really the point of fitting it I suppose if I'm honest, I just wanted a bit of induction noise.

Living in Germany I find 2nd hand cars more expensive than in the UK - plus the fact that you're going to get a LHD Corrado in the UK, so the insurance will kill you. Believe me I drive a RHD VR6 over here and I get my pants pulled down. Check http://www.mobile.de (German Autotrader if you like) if your still interested. D.

I've seen and been in the car in question - I thought it was a on a CAT C, not CAT D?! Regardless, I decided against it after seeing the car and bought a mint full VW service history, 63,000mile 1995 VR6 instead for £5300 as I recall back in September 2006. D.

Has got to be the best corrado video on youtube !! [NSFW]

She blatantly would have got tagged by the black dude. Not bad tits at all, bit council looking though. -
Hi chaps, I need a simple, reasonable set of rear speakers for the Corrado. I believe they are 6 x 4 speakers (stupid question...but is that the same as 4 x 6 speakers?!). One of my rear speakers has died, so I guess I'll just replace them both - must be simple enough to do, right? Don't really want to spend more than £50. Cheers, D.

Exhaust rattle *UPDATED* Anyone heard of Bastuck?
MonkeyVR6 replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in Engine Bay
Ok, I've just had an e-mail in pretty good english from a company nearish me and it appears as though the exhausts are made from a company called Bastuck anyone ever heard a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g about them? Ever? Fel like I'm going to be buying blind! From what I can gather from the e-mail I was sent I can get a full system including a CAT for €695-775 (£524-585 in real money) or €320-400 (£241-£301) for a cat-back system. All the systems are stainless steel and there is a choice of tail pipes, plus as I'm not subject to German tax I get a 20% discount on the above prices. -
The crazy Germans who serviced my car 2 months ago whacked in some funky 5w 30 stuff! Obviously, since having the invoice translated I've got myself down to VW, got another oil filter and sump-bung and got some Castrol 10w 40 and I'm doing an oil change tomorrow!

Hi chaps, I think my plans for lowered suspension will have to wait... :( Recently in the early morning, or when its cold outside and I start the car, there is a distinct and loud rattle coming from the exhaust. Back-in-the-day, I had a Mk2 Golf GTi and had the same noise and was told the 'baffles' had gone in the centre section of my (Scorpion) exhaust - replaced centre section, end of problem, so I'm guessing its the same thing with my Corrado VR6 as its exactly the same noise... However, the noise appears to come from nearer the front of the exhaust, I hope to god I don't need to replace the cat? So, what are my options? How much is a Corrado VR6 exhaust new from VW? I can get 20% discount, so I guess its worth getting one from VW, I dont want to put a aftermarket exhaust on simply due to the noise. I already have a Pipercross induction kit fitted to the car and that is plently loud enough when I want it to be. Any help would be appreciated. D.

I've just put a Pipercross VR6 induction kit/filter thingie on my Corrado and it sounds fantastic, especially above 3000rpm. It feels a bit more responsive, but I admit that might be more physicological due to the sound...at the end of the day, I haven't noticed ANY loss in power, but an improvement in sound. Jackpot for £70 if you ask me.

Ok, so maybe its a good idea to get an oil cooler! Where can I get one on the internet? I'd probably have to get one posted over here...if I take it to a regular german mechanic I take it he'd know what it was and how to fit it?
-
As a short term fix would changing the 5/30 oil currently in the engine to 10/40 help?
-
Recently I've been driving all over the damn place doing various airport runs and as per usual on the Autobahn's its been nice and clear to go as fast as I am able considering the road conditions etc...in doing so I noticed the other day that my oil temp has risen to 128. Is that bad? Too high? It quickly settled back to normal, but it got me wondering as I was well into the three figures mph for quite some time... What is a normal 'high' running temp for the oil? The water never really seems to rise, so I'm not really worried about that. Cheers!

Ya, am playing a bit of fuel light bingo myself...best get some bloody petrol in sharpish then as I'm well into the red.
-
So does a Corrado VR6 have a low fuel warning light? :?

Hmm...hardly the fairest or most scientific test with the Modus Vs Volvo, but you do kinda see their point. Car safety technology has advanced dramatically over the years, especially with the contraversial advance of the pedistrian safety value of a car. Compared to my old toy, Renault 5 GT Turbo (Phase II), I feel much safer in my Corrado VR6...however, I'd prefer to be in a modern Volvo if I ever were in a crash! For an older car the Corrado looks like a safe car, considering its age, and I can only hope that the fact that is a VW pays off in the unlikey event of me crashing. P.S. Ignore my awful spelling

I think I've followed the instructions as above?! I got some WD40 and followed a rubber cable from the brake caliper as far as I could get under the car without jacking it up (its -6 so I didn't fancy lying down/being outside long) and saw the cable go into the bodywork about halfway up the car near what I can only assume is a centre section of exhaust...we shall see how it goes. Does anyone have a photo of the underneath of a Corrado VR6 and I might be able to just point to it! Cheers!

Hi guys, To cut a long story short my car was left exposed to temperatures between -2 to -7 for a week. I drove it today, but noticed the handbrake had stuck on...being an impatient bastard - I drove it anyway :? I thought a couple of emergency stops at 15-25mph would sort it and it did kinda. The drivers side rear brake pad was actually smoking  I thought the bloody thing was going to catch fire or something?! My brakes smell quite a lot now whenever I drive the car and the alloy wheel is rather warm to the touch (when the other alloys are not). Any solutions? Its still -4 here and will be for a while.

So my Pipercross VR6 induction kit has arrived in the post and I wanted to make (or buy if I can?!) a small heat shield. I realise that the heat in a Corrado's engine bay isn't that massive and I won't really get any "heat soak" issues affecting me much...but nonetheless, I'd like to have/buy one anyway :) Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Anyone know the colour code of my Corrado? Need to know for that Corrado database thing. Cheers.
