my mother would have smacked me and my sister we would not have dared play up in the car but now thats not allowed so kids run riot , so in your defence this is cause by stupid laws ,its meant to stop people beating there kids but that still happens regardless only difference is we now have kids smashing stuff up saying you cant touch me mister i will ring the police , its all about what i said this country sucks

17-18" wheels and wide - what are the possibilities?
paul20v replied to quicky1980's topic in Exterior
hi why is it you want to run 18s , i can understand the staggered offsets as the rear track is always less than the front and i think it looks odd too, lots of cars are like it , i run 7.5" wide with et35 front and et 25 rear and they sit spot on -
phones require you to let go of the wheel look at them to dial some stupid people even text, smoking getting the packet removing the ciggy then getting the lighter lighting it then smoking it , eating who gets the food if your on your own you do when you reach down for your crisps etc open them eat them all while driving great,, your argument kids there belted up why are you distracted by them and still yor hands are on the wheel, driving in the wet ,and as for motorbikes yes speed is an issue there but it lack of concentration by others is the main problem there to, these are not valid arguments nothing of what you said requires you to physicaly alter driving the car and i am to take it that you object as you do all of the above except smoking because you dont as i read in earlier post , and should we all be alowed to drive around at 100 mph too because thats taking your freedom away we have laws for a reason not all good i admit but we have to have them or the country would be even more of a sh*t hole than it already is

Well said. It seems there's a frenzy to ban one thing after the other in this country. Let's put down the Daily Mail for a minute and chill out. :hitler: i dont believe in the hitler dictatership but the country is full of a lot of plain stupid and senseless people there has to be some laws , and i am sorry but eating in cars while driving , smoking and using a mobile , is plain bloody minded and should have a fine or indorsments attached , we get in our cars to drive not to catch up on phone calls , eat or smoke do it when you stop and try a bit of concentration when driving and there will be a load less accident on our roads , sorry if this offends some but there it is

Now that one seriously hacks me off too and have to say I occasionally undertake but I'm a bit paranoid about getting pulled over for it, why i dont know coz numpty i just passed on the outside lane was using a mobile while driving. I think you should be able to take pictures of drivers using mobile's while driving with your phone (although not while you are driving) and send them to a database that automatically sends a £50 fine to the owner of the car and as a reward you would get £10 back for shopping the twits, that'd stop em  now thats a good idea :D

whats with the vr owners bit its the best car i have ever owned on fuel anywhere between 30-37 mpg great stuff

rant away i would have done the same thing, i have another driving hate smoking while driving, why is this alowed you take your cig out of the pack mess about lighting it then the cherry falls off in your lap and you panic because your seats smoldering , then when youve finished and you flick it out the window at some one , either cycling or on a motorbike also the car , the other day i was driving and a hgv driver flicked his butt out the window and it landed on my bonnet i had my window open it could of quite easily come in the window in my eyes , burnt me or my interior , great and thats my rant over youve been a wonderful audience :D

no it was a insurance recovery truck picking up one of our clumsy customers mistakes but i had to ask him how the driver was before i took a pic , i would have felt a bit morbid if some one had died its amazing they didnt ,good job there was no passenger

this is a good reason not to use the mobile when drivingclimatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfDSC00239.JPG[/attachment:xq73ruso]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC00240.JPG[/attachment:xq73ruso]DSC00241.JPG[/attachment:xq73ruso] and no fatalities how lucky was that , there was no passenger ,and the driver had disslocated knee

hi mine was like that it was the bottom tab bent , its a load of rubbish and easily bent , and yes the outside adjust nearest the inner wing is the up and down adjuster not that this is your problem :)

yeah one day it was there and the next day or so there is a special notice saying forget about every thing nearly we have written in the reasons for rejection , it was the longest failure list in the whole system ,just another vosa inteligence trip :D ps . is it just me or do you find the refresher course fun too j o k i n g pps . i have used craigs plates too good service

Wrong, I left my D-plates on for my recent MOT as it was going to fail on other stuff so a case of lets see... The plates alone had 4 fails EACH on them font/spacing/d-band/stadt stickers... so NO a German font, D-banded, Stadt & Emission stickered plate won't go through the new "Automated" MOT you can get a german look plate with normal font , d band is totally ok ,stadt and emissions stickers are out and any plate without bsau etching is fine pre 2001 ,back to the font there is only a few of the digits that are not quite right for mot rules, also 3d letters are fine, honeycombed plates and images in the background this is pre 2001 and as i already said the spacing has to be correct and digits have to be even throughout which is were a few of the german fonts fall but not all , and the new mot is computerised not automated and its nothing to do with this its always been the same it everyone having a panic attack about computerisation , but you can still leave the testing station and get booked as soon as your wheels hit the public highway the law and mot have lots of things different and as i was quoted wrong ,tell me why you went for a test knowing your car was in an unfit state for test as you said(it was going to fail on other stuff so a case of lets see) :)

Many of the aftermarket looms have a disturbing tendency to fail, only when muppets have made them :D
-
mot wise the plates are fine as long as the digits are even through out ,eg not italic, and the spacing is correct its the law thats the pain in the donkey , when there not right apparently the road tax cameras dont like them hence the crack down lately

the heater fan thing works on old a 80s and coupes too freaked me out when i first stumbled on it thought i had a major problem but no they all do it vag group of that time in general the headlight switch is normal to one part lights with the ign then the green circle or light with side lights then dip the green circle or light goes out again thats a v dub thing also passats , golfs etc

Wattage is basically 'flow' and voltage is 'pressure' in mechanical terms. The new higher light output style bulbs are just a refinement of manufacturing tolerances producing a smaller unit but one that outputs more light. By increasing the wattage you will increase the heat in the bulb but depending on the type of driving you do, lots of stop/start in town or motorway, will impact the heat in the headlight due to a cooling airflow. The lenses can take the heat but the reflector being plastic sprayed with chrome is not at all heat tolerant. The whole dazzle thing is long out of the window, HIDS are terrible and the fact that a lot of MOT testers never adjust the beam pattern correctly does not help either. hids are fantastic if you use the inpros or any projector light as they dont rely on the bulb for beam image its done with a plate in the unit but hid does tend to have an issue with standard lights as the shielding and the light globe is never quite right in the light to give a perfect beam image The Halfords 50% super brilliance bulbs are good, combined with a 30% H3 bulb I found a marked improvement over the uprated bulbs I had previously fitted and a 'whiter' light pattern with more range. However, the philips xtreme power bulbs are better again with a very crisp white beam pattern and I find that I am no longer searching for reference points when vehicles with bright lights pass me. As for overall Corrado headlight performance I believe there are several issues: - The wiring loom is too long and pulls too much power due to resistance before it reaches the bulbs. - Headlight bulbs should be changed every 2 years (Most people just change them when they fail). - The headlight lense is probably very pitted on most peoples cars unless they have been changed. - The reflector being made from plastic sprayed with chrome will have degraded, again unless this has been changed. All of these factors are making the quality of light output very poor, although a good clean of the lenses with some glass polish and a new set of good quality bulbs does make a huge difference.

I'm not saying you wouldn't have four lights on, just that the H3s will be on and the H4s will only be on the dipped beam filament when main beam is selected unless you hold the stalk all the way back which will do the main beam filament on the H4s. Try it on your Mk2, select main beam holding the stalk back, if I'm right it should get brighter, my C did. I questioned a mate who had a Mk2 when I got my C cos I thought it was buggered and he said his had all been like that. It seemed daft to me so I was happy when the Loom sorted it out. hi there seems to be a little confusion here standard headlights on c, h4 main beam filament does come on with main beam and h3 it only becomes brighter on flash because you are supplying an extra live to the bulbs which is what the uprated loom would do,this is also true of the golf which suffers from the same problem and many other vag models of this time .
