  2. So why is it we can get so much from a 2.0 4 pot, and not very much at all from a 2.9 V6? Is it down to the way they are made, and materials etc????
  3. Out of interest, how long would a conversion take, man hours wise? If it was just a standard swap, not with all the great detail as above.
  4. He did say he wouldnt take less, but theres no harm trying. Im still not 100% whats happening yet. Im waiting for prices. Its not that I dont want a 24v, I just wanna keep prices down if poss, as Im buying my first ever house too. The engine isnt Phats no. Its still in a golf, and Andy (lad doing my car) has been told he can take whatever he needs from the car and return the rest to his local scrappy. Hes done the invest on my VR, and will either rebuild it or fit the new one too, depending on what prices and what I say. Hes getting the engine and ancillaries for £1100 which is a very good price.

  6. Clear indicators - Buy a cover from a fluorescent light, remove your lense. Place lens on the clear plastic cover, draw around it and cut it out. Put the flat side on the outside of the car, and the bobbly bit facing inwards. Job done. Thats an official "unofficial" mod, and its on the SXOC too 8)

  8. Yes Chris it is. He wants £700 for them, and as mine aint too well at the moment I could get these and have a completely new bottom end. I want to go 24v but I am also in the middle of buying a new house, so there is a bit of a money issue at the moment. think I may have to rebuild, and then go 24v next year maybe. Do you reckon thats a good price?
  9. Standard is 3 BAR under pressure IIRC, not sure about a turbo'd one though.

  11. As the title says. Ive been offered a brand new block and full set of pistons for my VR. How much are they worth? Theyre still in the original packaging.

As lots of people seem to be going down this path and are/will be asking similar questions I've stickied this and updated the title ;) -dinkus Beginneth the thread... ============== Can someone tell me the ins and outs of how to fit one? What parts are required? I know the loom needs changing, but does it use the VR ecu, ar 24v ecu? Does it bypass the immobiliser circuit? Do ALL of the VR ancillaries fit the 24v? Do I need to replace any? Due to my engine being fecked, Im looking into this conversion seriously. Ive tried to contact Phatvr6, but he hasnt got back to me. can anyone offer some advice please? cheers dudes 8)

  17. I can go more than a grand, but dont want to spend loads. Is it worth the extra money for a 24v, or should I stick to a VR? How long does it take to change a VR engine btw?

    Coil pack looks completely different to a dizzy Its on the right hand side of the block as you look from the front and has the 6 leads going to it. 3 to top, 3 to bottom in straight lines.   20. Supercharged It had a dodgy 'off the books' rebuild last year by the previous owner, and they didnt change everything!!! Fecking wankers!!!!! xbones I PM'd you the other day mate. I need an engine soon, but if I cant get a 24v then expect another PM ;)
