Yeah I've been considering AVS as an option as I need to order a couple of other bits from there, but its £100+ that could be spent elsewhere. However they'd be new and I guess thats a good thing! Cheers for the link Supercharged.

BUMP - does anyone have any standard front shocks that they don't need? Rest assured they'll be going to be a good home :D
-
Well I sold a set not long ago that were only a few years old at most for £10 per shock. They were Sachs Advantage front shocks so I'd be looking to pay a similar amount plus postage obviously. What are they like condition wise? I appreciate getting pictures isn't all that easy but if you'd be able to get a couple that'd be great :)

Hi, I'm after a set of front shock absorbers for a standard VR please. They must be in good condition, no rounded off hex at the top and ready to fit if at all possible. I don't need the top mounts/springs/anything else, just the bare shock will do the job :) Thanks in advance Tom

Did you get the Mk1 Audi TT over in America? If so then TT wiper arms also do the same job as the Lupo ones.

I've got one in good condition - £20 posted if you want it mate. Will get a picture up shortly. Cheers Tom

Breaking 1995 Corrado VR6 - 117k, Full Black Leather
Purple Tom replied to Purple Tom's topic in Cars for Breaking
Hi Iain, Yep I've still got the sunroof motor and quite a few other bits...for prices and pictures see here Tom -
The Polo 6N2 (Mk5) TDi has rear discs in 4x100 with the decent bearings. The car uses Mk4 Golf style alloy calipers so everything will transfer straight onto a 4-stud Corrado. Incidentally, it does have a seperate disc and hub (exactly like the Mk4 Golf). I know this because I spent a lot of time working on the ex's 6N2 so pretty familiar with the workings. The 6N2 GTi has the same brake set up too and there's plenty being broken so could be an ideal source of spares.

Coullstar - yeah, still got the engine, just advertised on the VR6OC about half an hour ago. It's very manageable as it is to be honest....here's some pics: Looking for £300 collected for it - 2 people would easily be able to lift it into the back of a vehicle, I also have an engine crane if necessary :) Cheers Tom -

Si - no glass left I'm afraid! James - subframe is indeed on its way, should be with you soon! Jon - no heatshields left either I'm afraid! Tom -
I've got an engine with 117k on for £350 or near offer. In great condition, removed from a very rusty VR6. It had a full VAG service history which I can provide with the engine. Here's some pics: Cheers Tom

What do you mean by nothing happens? Do the ignition lights come on as normal? Does the car crank but not fire, or not crank at all? When you try to crank the engine over do the ignition lights go out or stay on? If you can give a few more details that'd be good :)

They suffer with the same problems of neglect that any other car of a similar era does, in my opinion. They actually tend to be reliable to the point of being bulletproof* and seem to savour high milage and regular use. My 8V is knocking on the door of 190k and the engine is as perfect as an engine could be, doesn't use any oil or coolant and hasn't let me down once. *by this I mean that the car will keep on running when it has a catalogue of things wrong with it (whether it be due to wear and tear or general abuse/neglect). Once something goes wrong and renders the car immobile, the rest of the faults are found and it can cost a fair bit/take a little while to put right (depending on your method of car repair!)* Preventative maintenance is the key, as well as a degree of mechanical sympathy towards what is, at its youngest, a 16 year old car. If you look after them they will look after you, but don't expect it to be maintenance free for any length of time, even if you've bought one thats had the majority of the jobs done. There will always be something that requires a little bit of attention but that is par for the course when you own an old car. Look around carefully, buy a half decent one and you won't regret it. Oodles more character than your Golf and if you get a 4-cylinder one you could put the ABF from the Golf in very easily. HTH. Tom

Looks awesome Chris :) I saw the back of it poking out from where you park it when I was passing the other day but couldn't stop to talk. I'll come in and say hi next time I'm there! Tom
