Corrado Mention in Brussels Airlines Magazine
SamG40 replied to Dan_Storm's topic in General Car Chat
I'm surprised there has been no mention of the Corrado mention in this months Evo yet! -
I thought all the stick on tat wings etc were banned but they seem to be making an appearance on most cars. There seems to be a lot more 'aero' on the cars this year, in particular the front wings. Glad those awful wheel trims have gone from the front wheel though.

I think the worst two are the workshop fire and the one that is under the crane. That looks awful.

Going through Howbrook inbetween Penistone and Grenoside tonight around 7ish. Couldnt see what flavour it was as it was dark, I'm sure it was another blackberry, looked low and on wide wheels though.

No it isnt the voltage I made that mistake when first hooking up to VAGCOM. A Lambda does put out the voltages mentioned above but the reading shown in VAGCOM is the 02 mixture reading. That sounds about right I believe. You have a problem if it does actually stick on a reading like I had, then the Lambda is buggered.

Mine was on 110k and the tensioner was on its last legs when it was changed the other week. I can recomment DG autotech if you need them checking.

Quick mention regarding StueyB, friendly and parts sent quickly and packaged well. Cheers

DG Autotech open day 15th May everyones welcome

4’thd! Lol. Well where do I start. I had a few problems that led me to needing to have the gearbox off my car. The car had covered 110k so thought whilst this was happening I may as well get the chains done. After speaking to Kip I thought it was worth giving DG a call after he had nothing but good things to say about them (and I think we all know Kip’s high standards)! Anyway after a first 15 minute initial phonecall I was very impressed with Dave and how professional and helpful he seemed. Booked the car in and they have done the chains and done front and rear bushes amongst a few other jobs, and the service and work is first class. We went down yesterday afternoon to pick the car up and spent nearly 3 hours there chatting away (and generally annoying them both I think :) ), Dave also took me out in his monster turbo’d vr which is awesome! I would thoroughly recommend them for any work you need doing, Dave has been sending me emails with loads of pictures on and keeping me up to date on the progress (above and beyond but appreciated non the less). Nothing seems too much trouble and has been said before it is enthusiasts doing the work and it shows. They are over a 100 miles from where I live but I wouldn’t hesitate in using them again in the future. The only problem with them is the distance they are from me. If your lucky you’ll get to meet Jack and a nice brew too! Sorry again about all the seized bolts and me hassling you all the time, and many thanks again Dave and Graham, top lads! :notworthy: -
They're only a couple of quid a piece from GSF. They were completely seized on mine discs so I had to buy new ones. If you bend them getting them off they will cause abs faults.

I was thinking that until I saw an episode a couple of weeks back where they attempted to review the new DSG Mk6 Golf Gti. After the 'review' I found myself thinking that there wasnt a single opinion or useful fact about the car in the whole thing. At least top gear never even make a pretence of reviewing a car properly, maybe thats where fifth gear still fails for me, it takes itself too seriously. Anyway this is my mates Z, he loves it although it does like a drink, especially with the way he drives it too. I dont think he goes anywhere in a straight line, its always sideways. Bosch silvers are pretty good, I believe Euro are doing them for a good price at the moment, they've shot up loads at GSF. Just stay away from Halfrauds for batteries, ridiculous prices in there.

At the mini roundabout in Greasbrough this evening around 6:15, I was in my G40, you gave my missus a wave (who owns the Corrado we own)! Must be quite a few around here now.

I bought mine from VW separetly. Asked for it either by part number or by asking for one from a Sharan, cant remember now, anyway I've got a number of 7M0128101. There is a thread on here about it somewhere, cost me just under £30.
-
Does that mean you'll sell me the mirror?!  :D

Yep I did say when I bought the original lambda at GSF I wanted a bosch one and he said they sell loads with no issues. TBH I was in a rush for it for an MOT so just bit the bullet. Bloody pain though. The value in VAGCOM was a CO level that normally reads between 0.8 - 1.1ish. It was stuck firmly on 1.203. I am assuming a value of 1 is 14.7 air fuel as when the engine is in overun and the injectors are off it stays on 1. Anyway glad its sorted and hopefully this thread will be of use to someone in the future if they are having similar problems, if only they were all as easy to sort.

Well just a quick update on this. Got GSF to supply me with a bosch lambda. Got it fitted and did over 1200 miles going to the Isle of Skye and back last week. Averaged over 30mpg over the whole trip and the car behaved perfectly. They have the old lambda back now and are sending it off to be tested and if its proved faulty I’ll get a refund. They were bob on about it too but still a pita in the first place. I was never happy with it from day one I wish I’d insisted on a bosch one in the first place.

3 to report on my jaunt up to the Isle of Skye and back. 1st was coming onto the M8 (possibly) in the middle of Glasgow, the Marriot hotel junction. Cant remember much about it now (been a long week) but it was about 4ish on Monday (the 22nd). 2nd was a silver G plate heading towards Skye on Friday evening. 3rd was a grey J plate G60 going into and then parked up at the Aysgarth falls car park this afternoon.

When it is ideling fine it does sort of ‘pulse’ every so often, like I said it doesn’t seem smooth. When it is running crap its just like the MAF has been disconnected if you’ve ever done that. Hard to say whether it is running on five or not. Is it possible the lambda values are a red herring then? It has happened all of a sudden. One minute it was driving fine with good (well ok for a VR) economy, the next its running rubbish. I might see about getting my injectors cleaned next week.
-
No when you accelerate it seems to clear itself (although not immediately sometimes), it doesn’t seem as smooth though. It does smell of petrol but it seems to be in a limp home mode as its doing around 17mpg. I did check the wiring and where I thought I had the join in the loom it appears I have but it is a proper soldered connection that is heatshrink wrapped so I’m sure that will be fine. Having VAGCOM on it some more on warm up the lambda appears to operate normally for a time, then stays static on 1 co and then goes up to the 1.203 CO value. I’m pretty sure my issue is the lambda so I’m going to give GSF a ring and see if they will swap it.

Hello all, Another dodgy running VR6. Up until Friday this car was running perfectly. I drove for 15 minutes to pick the missus up after work, stopped for about 20 minutes and when she turned up started the car. It was idling like it was about to run out of petrol, idling under 500 revs and flucuating about. I reved it a bit and it seemed to clear, drove home fine. Saturday morning I drove to my council lock up five minutes away and stopped and started the car and it did the dodgy revs thing again. I revved it and it went fine again. Since this point it has done it a few times but I have also noticed that the MPG is shocking, suddenly it is down to about 13-15 mpg on the way to work. I unplugged the MAF yesterday when the car was running (idling fine) and it ran even worse than the times it has misbehaved. I've cleaned the MAF with circuit board contact cleaner as suggested on here anyway. I've had VAGCOM on it all day today and had a couple of errors about the Lambda 00525, and 00537. They are both errors about it being out of its range which when I montiored the measuring blocks it was reading mostly at 1.203 CO especially on idle. It will never drop down below 1 (I've had the missus on monitoring duties). I replaced the Lambda (albeit with a non Bosch one from GSF) in October/November, but I'm not ruling it out. What I am wondering is, could the lambda acutally be working ok but something else is screwing the O2 up so much that the lambda cant compensate the values back down to what it should be and thats why I'm getting the lambda out of value range error codes, or is it simply a case of a screwed Lambda? I ran the car down to where I pick the missus up after work and the car ran the same and with similar mpg. I also noticed as I plugged the lambda back in that someone has cut the lambda loom at some point and it has connectors joining it back up, so my first thing is to check those later on when the engine has cooled somewhat. I'm really hoping to get this sorted quickly as I was planning on driving it to the Isle of Skye on Saturday for the start of a week long drive around the highlands! Sorry for the essay but tried to pre empt any questions people may ask. Oh and I changed the cam sensor late last year too. The car has recently been serviced including new plugs but the HT leads do look quite old! Cheers all.

That would have been me. Just on my way to the joy that is Rotherham Tesco's! :gag:

Now this might seem a bit of a pikey question and I’m sure it probably is but can I put on Mk4 rear callipers with the goodridge conversion hoses and leave the other hoses as the standard rubber ones. It says on the box not to but I cant think of a reason why not. I will get round to replacing the rest soon but I want to put the callipers on sooner rather than later for a trip to Scotland. Cheers

Do you know if they will be doing that for the 40's too? As said the best place to send it is to G werkes. You could have been lucky but a mate had one do this on him recently and it killed the apex seal wall and put a crack down it. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Handbrake cables are a piece of p1ss. If you've had the calipers off you've already done the hardest bits before. There are tubes to thread them through so no bothers with that, plus yeah they are a under a tenner each from GSF I believe.
