Was that from Gilders in Rotherham? I might give them a call, I must have spent a fortune with them.

What to do next? Having a mare starting a Polo

You can replace the hall sender but I believe they are about £80 and a new dizzy (exchange from VW) are about £125. There is a dizzy on ebay at the moment though I believe. My moneys on the coil though. I've had one fail before and so have a good few friends. They will give you a mk4 one now as they've replaced them. -
Got a letter from the police (UPDATE Wed 4th Feb) ....
SamG40 replied to -Neil-'s topic in General Car Chat
They've done this at my work in Sheffield too. Roamed the car parks checking out cars. My letter stated I had 'items of value' in the car at the time of checking. The only thing it could have been was my crook lock. Seeing as I was blocked in by about 5 cars I didnt think it was going anywhere. Thats the only thing I ever leave on display in my car. -
"Excessvie comm errors" on VAG-COM, what does it mean..?
SamG40 replied to joebloggsVR69's topic in Engine Bay
Yes there is a thread on it somewhere. defo to do with the latency setting, I had the exact same thing with mine. You cant access the ABS controller whilst the car is moving either, it has to be stationary. -
Hmm this thread reapearing has made me reinvestigate my issues with this and only this morning as I was parking up at work the cooling fans came on. Then when I parked up and turned the car off everything cut out, the aux pump and the fans. I switched the ignition on and the fans cut it again. My missus and I are both sure that when we got the car we could hear the aux pump working as we walked away from the car. I checked the other day and I think it has three fuses, it is an auto with air con if that helps? Edited to say, does anyone know which relay it is that can cause issues. I can open it up and have a look at work if I knew which one it was. Cheers

I was going to say that. I change the small belt on my charger anually regardless of the mileage now. They cost about a tenner and can be changed in about 30 seconds once they are off the car.

Well I recieved mine yesterday and fitted it as soon as it arrived. Took the grill and headlights out and it took me under half an hour (sneaked off to an empty corner of work to do it)! Made a massive difference to the beam pattern, it now stretches a lot further. Very noticeable even in town under street lighting etc so cant wait to get it on an unlit backlane to really see the difference! Big thanks to Zak for the quick turnaround and the excellent construction of the loom. I'm really glad I held off buying one of the ebay ones now. Thanks dude!

Quick Question: What the hell is a 'breather box'?
SamG40 replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in Engine Bay
There is a thread on here somewhere with the part number for just the valve alone from VW. You can buy it separetly from VW for a Sharan VR6 but not the Corrado for some reason. The part number is right though, I got one and fitted it last week as mine came apart completely in my hand! -
Awesome picture and a nice suprise! Cheers. Merry christmas.

Apparently according to my missus I have "I dont like driving this car" face. I dont pull it at any other time. I used to make it quite a lot when I was driving her Ford Kak according to her. So yeah that used to put me in a bit of a downer, my G makes me grin like an idiot most of the time I'm driving it too.
-
I used to get around 30 and mines an auto too. Its dropped to around 20 at the moment because I have some sort of issue. God knows what it is like as the car still runs exactly as it used to. They arent that bad really if all sensors etc are working ok.

Whoops sorry, God knows how I missed the other posts!

I put them up on here. Its a couple of mates of mine. They did have them on ebay last week. They do limited runs of them every now and again. Very high quality and you've probably seen them being worn at shows, they've done them for a few years now. I can see if there are any left or put you in touch if you want?

What are the implications of importing a car into China? Are there any sort of dafts rules to get it registered and on the road when you get it there?
-
Woohoo. Seems it must have been the Lambda. I've just got back from the MOT and it passed with a CO reading of 0 and a HC reading of 7ppm which now seems incredibly low!
-
Ah right, cheers for that. Well I replaced it last night. Will keep an eye on it. If it isnt this that is causing my emissions though I'm a bit stumped. The car is running fine but the fuel consumption has been well down on what it used to be.
-
I cant remember the exact error but it was something along the lines of the lambda value out of range and being intermittent. Surely the voltage should cycle to a lower voltage on idle. I was always led to believe that Lambda's read between 0 and 1 volts?!
-
Evening, can anyone please tell me what they see for the values on VAGCOM for a healthy lambda probe please? I've been getting a Lambda fault code and I had a failure on the MOT for emissions. It only cycles between 0.95 and 1.04 or so which to me dosent seem to be correct. I've done a search and cant really find a defintive answer. The emissions failure was the CO2 level was 0.98 by the way with the limit being 0.30. Apparently it was fluctuating up and down.

If its the same as a 40 (which I think it is) the black temp sender is just the sender for the temp dial. Blue ones do cause a lot of greif though.
-
Lewis Hamilton is Black?! Wow I never noticed. In all seriousness though, I do just see him as very naturally talented racing driver and its so refreshing to see someone in the F1 paddock who is clearly enjoying the oppurtunity to be there and his racing. I hope he gets 8 WC's and not through cheating like some previous champs.

I got one from GSF, they had it in stock.

Took the Rado for its MOT today which it failed. Failed on emissions, front brake pads, rear fog bulb, handbrake ineffective, and nearside headlight dull. I've changed the headlight lens (with a lot of help from the Wiki, cheers guys) as it had a crack in it anyway and I'd bought one to put one from a member on hear which turned up earlier on this week. I've been to GSF and bought new discs and pads for the front and new handbrake cables which I'll fit tomorrow all being well. I think the emissions is down to a sensor somewhere, will try and find a mate with VAGCOM to plug it in. Will report back tomorrow with a success story hopefully!
