Hi Just had my VR6 serviced and on the report the guys have found that one of my front FK coilover units is leaking and the two rear are "sweating". This is only after approx 20K miles- I have attempted to get a respose from FK but they have not so far responded to my mail. Has anyone else had probs with FK units? - and do we know if the units can be rebuilt? Cheers

Hi Due to a front engine mount failure - I know have a small dent in my bonnet where the manifold was able to move enough to hit it from below! Does anyone know of a dent removal firm in the Edinburgh Area?
-
Hi Not to much in the way of tape - just enough to give it a snugger fit. - the leather boot comes with it and fits ok (pic dosn't due it justice). and the button release works fine. Gear knob was an issotta max in chrome but does not come with boot (although I think it may be an option - can't recall) you can have a look in the members section under ray vr6 at some pics

Hi Here is a pic (with my new Fischer cup holder shown as well!!!)
-
That was probably me - I have some pics some where and will try and down load probably tomorrow. Fit is fine but you do need to pad out the lever (having removed the original cover obviously!) with gaffer tape.

As I "only" have 3 points live at the moment and they have been on for 2.5 years I may bite the bullet on this one as it looks like you need to get (ie pay) a lawyer to fill the form in on your behalf and then send it in unsigned. And if authorities start playing silly buggers you end up with lawyer’s letters flying back and fore. Would be worth it if I were sitting on 9 pts. It’s just the whole subject of cameras that are used for revenue raising. 84 mph in any modern family car far less a well cared for "performance" car like a VR6 on an almost deserted three lane motorway is not a "safety" issue - its another tax on the motorists. For the first time in my life - I am seriously thinking of voting Tory as they are talking about raising motorway limits and doing away with the points (except at recognised danger spots like schools) when you are caught. But then again I wouldn't trust the ba*tards the carry out their promise! Blue Angel unit on ebay at buy it now price of £309 is very tempting!

Got done by a mobile camera in a van sitting over a motorway bridge on (almost empty!) M6 near Tebay last week. 84 mph - what crap! Anyway I intend to send back the details form unsigned. I notice the info sheet that comes with it and is in a FAQ form has the following: Q:What If I don't sign the form? A: You are ADVISED to sign the form as failure to do so MAY result in you having to go to court. I thought that very interesting as they are not saying you MUST sign the form like the driver info which states you MUSTgive. Has anyone else actually tried out this well documented loop hole?

Just to clear (no pun intended!) things up - I don't intend to fit a bezzel cover but bezzel rings - which I could do without taking off front plastic cover but I would prefer too for various reasons namely I found you need to glue them in and it proved a bit messy (i.e. I bu**ered it up!!!!!) Thanks dazztvr6 - I will pm cheesy.
-
Errrr - Yes - what I was asking about is how to remove the clear plastic front from unit pictured (after you have futher removed the cover enclosure - using the two small srews at each side) so that all you are left with is a single "sheet" of transparent plastic).
-
Yes it is the clear plastic part that I meant and as Henny suggests it must be possible. At least I have a spare unit if it all goes pear shaped!!!
-
Can anyone tell me if its possible to remove the clear plastic front from its housing (by housing I mean the part that you remove to access the dials/needles/bulbs etc). Cheers Ray (VR6) CCGB Mem. No. 846

Hi I recently bought a used instrument cluster. The idea was to butcher it for the dials but its in vgc so thought about just switching the complete set. BUT the mileage shows 12k more than the car has done. I only want the mileage to be ACCURATE - I have no intention of attempting to falsify the reading - so apart from going to a "mileage correction agent(!)" who want approx. £60 - can it be done?
-
Anyone know if 16" BBS RC would be ok with 5 stud conversion?
-
I'm still up for a set - thanks

I fitted a simple buzzer to the headlights/doorswitch circuit but my alarm does not like it as it also uses the door switch. This resulted in the alarm going off as soon as I set it!! - So I have had to diconect it. I believe you can overcome this by fitting various diodes and relays but I havn't got round to doing so. Therfore if anyone does know of a kit that incorporates all the required gubbins please let me know!
-
Sorry that should have been DAVE and not Andy I referred to in the last post!!
-
Hi Thomas As Andy above suggests the part is indeed from the forward centre tunnel and although its a while ago since I dismantled the doner C - I think the duct you see at he top of the second pic fitted to the heater ducts and fed air down to footwell HTH
-
I've got a Magnex fitted after removing a Milltek system which was a very poor fit and Milltek's "lifetime warranty" was rubbish. Magnex system is ace and (no sour grapes) a superior system IMHO
-
Well said Alex - I hope that both formats can survive as they both offer some thing different. £15 for membership of the CCGB is a bargain even if you didn't didn't get every penny and more back in various discounts!

The late great multi TT winner and Brittish Champion Steve Hislop had one of the first Corrados - yellow one if I remember.

Road Angel GPS radar/speed trap detector?
ray_vr6 replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
If there is a group buy at £230 count me in!!! -
Count me in - and I think we should get "corrado" printed on the speedo and rev counter - maybe where mph and revx100 are in the example? :D
-
I will be back home in Edinburgh on Thu so will pop along to western vw probably on friday and see if I can get you what you want - could you list exactly what you require?
-
Western VW in Edinburgh had one arm and both blades in stock and had the second arm for me the following day!! - and I got 10% doiscount for CCGB membership. I will have to experiment with the fitment as it looks as though I have them sitting to low at the park position.
-
Has anyone who reported no fouling problems with Lupo arms and blades fitted them to a VR? I got two drivers arms and BOTH can't be raised without catching on the bonnet! :?
