Cheers redborbet, the carpets are virtually touch dry now so i might start with the door membrane, then get a bit of sealant around the windscreen seal, (for now) and then see if it still leaks, it really is my pet hate of cars when they leak, drives me nuts! I've read about the foilage seal, ill have a good route around and have a look down there too i reckon, i suppose im hoping for a quick fix but like you said i'm probably better stripping all of the carpets and attacking it full on:-D, gonna haver a word with my good friend who has a unit, be better to do it indoors in this weather

Hi all I've got a list of things to sort on my vr6 at the mo and one of these is damp drivers front and rear footwells. I'm using a sheet which covers half of the car which is helping things dry out, (it's not my daily drive) but where shall i start with this problem and what are the main culprit areas? The top corner of the drivers side windscreen rubber doesn't look the best as its not sitting flush with the bodywork so this is an obvious area and i was thinking about taking off the door card off and checking the membrane is sealed to the door as i had this on my 330d which solved the same problem. Also what about the passenger side scuttle panel cover for the fan, i've heard this can cause problems but surely i would have water in the passenger side and not the drivers side? And lastly i think i can se evidence of tiny droplets coming on the plastic kick panel which is down by the bonnet release handle, my drivers wing also needs attention as it has a rust bubble just where it joins then door, so i'm thinking i may have a problem with a seal around the wing also? Any info to solve this will be greatfully recieved before i start completely stripping the car!

Hi alex, Yeah! hope the vr is ok? I would of offered you the seats out of the green vr when you came to buy the other one but I sourced a set of leathers and didn't pick them up untill the next day:-( and hadn't heard from the guy till last min. And sorry but Ive just struck a deal with mr ginge on the seats but if that doesn't come through then you are next in line. I'd be interested how your getting on with the transfer of all parts with the vr's, let me know the outcome yeah? cheers matt

Hi mrginge, The seat bolsters are very very good, no thin feeling fabric at all, feels exactly like the opposite side, your only in Stroud so give me the asking price and ill deliver them otherwise £90

I'm in! and im with edd, i barely use my throttle on my 330d purely cause i've already lost my licence through totting up!, click cruise at 30 and relax:-D

Interesting phil, tbh I've been driving a diesel for so long now there is probably nothing wrong with my power delivery! it does pull harder at 4000 but its been a good five years since I've driven/owned a vr6! and this is my third (well forth but I've just sold one) When was the rolling road done on your engine? just after you had run it in? or after a few thousand miles under its belt? And is it standard? All mine has from standard are the overbored 82.5 pistons and a Bmc induction kit and my rolling road was done after the engine had done 3000 miles from a full rebuild so was probably quite tight.

That's what I thought, cheers:-)

I have a 1992 vr6 with the later door cards, (switches on a 45 degree by speakers and would like to know whether I can fit the old style rear leather door cards from a 1990 car? I know the fronts won't fit but do the rears?
-
Ok we'll have a go then, thanks for the reasurance guys

Well apparantly this manifold wont fit my corrado vr6 as my mate has just emailed the guy on ebay, and it does state for a golf vr6? but surely it will, gonna have a measure up tomorrow BEFORE stripping anything, wrapping is a good idea you guys are right
-
Ok, it wont be my daily drive and ive no real plans to do a track day, (would love to do one one day though) and i cant say ive ever wrapped an exhaust before and it looks like a bit of a fiddle tbh, also was thinking as the 2.9's run quite hot will this exhaust increase the underbonnet temps with normal driving? would definatly look better unwrapped though ---------- Post added at 10:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:32 PM ---------- How different did your vr feel with manifold fitted dude vr6? does it help with the power much? I'm planning a few mods to mine, hopefully some 263 schimmels and the 6 branch would work well together, I already have a Bmc fitted.
-
Cheers, £65? I've got to make it fit havn't i! And do i need to heat wrap it all, or not?
-
I think i've caught a bit of a tuning bug with my third corrado vr6!, anyhow a good friend of mine is in process of finishing his mk1 golf vr6 convertible and he has purchased a stainless 6 branch manifold which will not fit his car. So he's offered it to me for a bargain price but will this fit my 2.9 corrado? i'm thinking im gonna have trouble as it says on the ebay ad its for a 2.8 golf, i take it the headers would mate up to the head but would i have trouble mating the cat up? Anybody got one of these fitted?
-
I appreciate the info 4DUST, just learning my way around all the obd1/2 and tuning options, my other cars going friday so if i decide to go for the manifold i'll let you know as polishing mine is a bit of a job!
-
Ah sounds good, i remember a few people slagging off the e46 m3 for sounding tinny, but i just think it sounds nice and tuned! On another note ive just been offered an fk stainless steel 6 branch manifold for my vr for £65? Its brand new, might have it fitted by friday. has anyone heard of these? Ive dropped an email to sp tuning with a shipping price so we shall see, last time my car was rolling roaded it made 198bhp/192lbft so i could see about 220bhp? now that would be nice!

If anybody has a set of these, im on the lookout so please pm me or call/txt matt on 07866474147, thanks
