    Stealth overbore

Wierd eh some use and some don't?! In comparison my 330d is on 168,000 now and uses a quarter of a litre every 15,000 not bad huh! Fingers crossed my vr isn't an oil muncher then, ill report back! Blimey if it is and i do the nurburgring trip in her that will be a serious oil bill:-(
  3. Well I have a friend with a bodyshop who has amazing results, he always has his own little projects going as well, but he is not cheap but then I think when paint matching is in order you pay for what you get, so I might go see him as I need the wing spraying too. So he will be able to re use the seals yeah?

    Stealth overbore

I've just been doing a bit of a search on overbores and the mahle 82.5 pistons which is what I have in my vr, so before the rebuild the standard bore was 2861cc now with the 82.5 mm overbore it should now be 2943.5cc right? The rebuild was done by stealth back in 2004/5 and has now covered 75,000 and has been run on 10w/40 synta semi synth. Can I expect I expect a bit of oil consumption with these miles now? and would the valve stem seals be past thier best by now also? All my vr6,s have used oil but I haven't done enough mileage in the one I have now to check, but would be nice if it didnt use too much:-)
  5. Thanks for the info guys, ill check the link out too ollievr6:-) but how much did you pay? Tbh the photo makes it look like the metal is as rotten as a pear but its not as bad as it looks in the pic, just a bit of surface rust, so grind back and make good i reckon is the only way? The list is getting longer....
  6. I'm in Worcestershire, Where do I go? how much? let me know, cheers:-)
  7. Well I'm pretty sure my leaky drivers footwell is because of the poor windscreen seal as the last always parked the car with car facing downward and on a slant to the drivers side so would explain why water has sat against the rubber and slowly affected the bodywork.. so what's the best way around curing this problem? water is definatly travelling down the inside of the car from the seal, so is it an insurance claim for a new windscreen and new seal or should I be grinding the metal back and making good? Or just just whack some sealant in there for the time being!

Forest of dean tomorrow for me and a few mates! If anyone is up for it??
  11. I would MUCH rather have a vr6, (ok i've had four) with 220bhp over a g60, one of the best sounding cars ever!! get a bmc cda on there and forget the stereo!
  12. Just have a drive in a sorted vr6 first they are very good and sound very nice:-) I find most people who are negative of the vr6 have never driven one or driven one at 110% which is where they feel fun for me! But to be fair the less weight over the front axle in the g60 does make for a better stock handling car but then I'd just upgrade suspension components on the vr6 to get even. Ive had 39mpg out of my old corrado vr6 on the motorway, they are not that bad if you tootle around Or you could just find one with the vag 1.8t bam engine installed? you'd have the same lump in your seat I'd of thought, they are very strong engines I'm led to believe?
  13. You can get big power out of a turbo vr6 but will cost you £££ budget £4000, you can also supercharge for £2000 but you can spend a £1000 for some cams and remap to take power up to a nice n/a 220bhp with no turbo:-), (thats what i'm doing) and then of course you have the character of the engine which for me dominates the driving experience with the sound revvy nature. I'm not to clued up on the g60 but pretty sure you can take the 1.8 to a 2.1 and bigger charger smaller pulleys etc and push 350bhp? Money wise it would be cheaper to tune a g60 than a vr6 but a four pot lump does nothing for me even with the super charger whine! so I'd have a go in both and do a good search on here:-)
  14. Blimey, ive just searched my old username and realised I joined this site in 2004! Moderators can my old username 'mattman' be merged into my current username which is 'maff'? might bump the newbie status up a bit!;-)
  15. Now this is one quick corrado! wait till he catches the gt3:-)
  16. I agree, if we gave the cars to the stig then I think the corrado would come out on top, but after driving god knows how many miles and knowing my mates we definatly won't be going 100% all the way round. And my corrado isn't my daily driver but it was designed to be driven hard in my opinion. My engines done 75,000 miles after it's rebuild so I reckon as long as I change the oil before I go and when I get back I won't feel to guilty... I think! And there are a few reasons we are going, maybe to get away from the humdrum of everyday life and to enjoy something we all appreciate, cars, engines etc and probably because we've always talked about doing it, so why the hell not:-)
  17. That why I'm doing the 288 brake upgrade well before we go!! Saying that we are all pretty crap drivers too tbh, lol. One good thing I think though as I've got older I definatly don't go quite so mad so just maybe we will stay on the track and have some fun, the charge for destroying an Armco barrier is enough let alone totalling the car! And the M5 sounds awesome 1st gear through our small town sounds like a Ferrari as he has a Hayward and Scott exhaust with the middle x pipe too which makes it sound even better at 8000rpm, very quick car, doesn't get goin untill a ton:-) He's had 185mph out of it easy in 6th, still with a gear to go!(7 speed)
  18. Good man:-) corrado all the way, that's what I want to hear! Ive got the Pirelli p8000's all round on my rado, I'm thinking of changing them for toyos as Ive always liked them, also a front strut brace fitted before the off! No matter what happens its gonna be a top laugh, also be interesting to see some exotic machinery going round too, saying that my pal who is coming in the mk1 also has lots of motors, one of them being the e60 v10 m5 rolling roaded at 538bhp:-) now that that would be pushing on 200mph down the straights I reckon!!
  19. Sorry no headlight switch, just what's listed
  20. I have witnessed quite how much has been stripped out of the mk1 and when it was on axle stands without wheels fitted you could pick the rear of the car up easily, I don't quite know what it's going to be like but won't be boring either!! I've got my money on the mk1 in a straight line but definatly dominated by understeer in the corners! mk2 will be interesting cause I think the vr lump only adds about 150kg to the front of the car, but I reckon top speed 130+ the aerodynamics of my lowered corrado will come through?
  21. mk1 Mk2 Or the rado vr;-), poor pic though
