Right so the cylinder head/valves will cast to marry up with the angle of the bores then?
-
Just having a bit of a read of an old post about the vr meaning and that the vr6 engine is effectively a v engine but has one cylinder head like an in line engine but does that mean that the pistons have a plumb vertical (0 degree) crank throw as in the pistons on a traditional v6 travel up and down at 45 degrees so I therefore thought that the pistons in a vr6 would moving up and down at a 7.5 degree angle from the centre of the crankshaft? Or is the crank widened so the pistons are thrown up 0 degrees? I suppose they would have to be cause the cylinder head is one piece and flat right?! Is this really obvious or am I just being stupid?! I've never took apart a vr6 engine either so just trying to understand the 15 degree and one cylinder head bit

I think i'll try different tyres, never really been a fan of the pirellis but they are all matching and practically brand new, anybody want them?!
-
Checked the pressures! actually remember thinking something was wrong with my old corrado years ago, and the tyres were 4 or 5 psi difference which made a massive difference to the feel of the car! Funny my 330d is exactly the same, I thought something was wrong with it the other day and checked pressures which were low so pumped them back up and great again 41psi in the rears for the Bm 235/35/18! I might change the Pirelli p6000's for some toyo proxies tr1, have always liked them on every car I've had but they just don't last long enough! ---------- Post added at 11:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:54 AM ---------- I'll have a play with the dampening, it is pretty rock at the mo which I like!!

Ive got the koni's set to firm but would that make the turn in feel light? i mean smooth or bumpy roads, it feels the same. And all bushes were done and I'm sure it's just had the tracking done afterwards, doesn't pull to one side and drives spot on tbh, just the initial glass like feeling which I don't remember having before, even my 330d sport feels alive compared to the rado but then they are not a bad handling at all tbh, maybe I've just forgotten what the vr,s drive like??

I'm really enjoying having a vr6 corrado again, my 4th now! But I've noticed the latest one i have now doesnt feel as planted as my old ones used to? I remember being able to really feel the tyres biting at the Tarmac on turn in but I'm getting a very light almost nervous feel to my steering, it's ok when it's settled into a turn but it's the initial oh god is it going to grip feeling I'm getting whereas before I don't remember this being the case. For reference my car has had recent rear swing arm bushes, koni adjustables front and rear with 40mm h and r springs and everything's nice and tight, no knocks etc. But I always ran toyos on my old vr6 and I have a matching set of Pirelli p6000's which I'm thinking maybe to blame? And a geometry set up wouldn't go a miss I suppose

Nice one jim nice one:-)

Not 100% sure but I think I have a leak from my auxiliary water pump on my 92 vr6, so what's the best place to get one from? Don't really want to spend £100 from vw for one and not much point in going second hand is there as most will be pretty old!
-
I found one yesterday £30 all in thanks anyhow:-)

Cheers guys, i seemed to remember the coolant not being cheap either?? and er.. where is this drain plug, new one on me?
-
I'm going to be flushing and refilling my coolant pretty soon and having been away from vr6 tinkering for a while the last coolant I used was the g12 stuff, is it ok to use the g13 and how many bottles do I need for the correct mixture ratio? Also is undoing the bottom rad house the beat way to do a full drain down? cheers Matt.

I'm in need of a top rad hose for my corrado vr6 preferably before Friday, if anyone has one please please let me know thanks, my contact no: Matt on 07866474147 cheers

Vr6 samco hoses, Vw mk3 gti alloys and braided fuel line
maff replied to Flexso's topic in Parts for Sale
I'll take the hoses asap, whereabouts are you? Edit, need these urgently, i've pm'd you! my top hose has just gone and i need to use the car next sat -
Well i wondered how long it would be before something would keep me occupied on the old vr6! Went for a bit of a spirited drive yesterday and pulled up switched off and upon starting the car again i noticed the coolant light flashing. I had 6 miles to drive home so i got a move on but the water temp got just under 110 and the oil to 118 degrees. I've just been out on the drive and refilled coolant and i have a drip from the rad top hose where it connects to the thermo housing on the block, now i'm a little worried about a head gasket after things getting hot but my old vr used to run way hotter and has got hotter than 110 degrees so i'm assuming everything will be ok?, i did have a bit of steam coming out of the bonnet when i pulled to a stop but according to the temp gauge it never went higher than as if i was sitting in traffic, surely it'll be ok right? Heading down to my mates unit now to sort the hose and have a good tinker hopefully she'll be a ok:-)

I'll also take the door cards:-)
-
Are these still available?

I'm getting a bit older now and no stranger to coming off 2 wheels, (used to go over the bars on purpose to make em laugh!) and growing up racing and jumping my bmx in my younger days but i've gotta say i'm definatly thinking alot more about consequences and not being able to earn £££ because i have an injury is a very real element when im driving to the trails, but i can safely say it all goes away when your hurtling through the braking bumps and trying to doctor smooth the backsides;-) love it all good fun!
-
Cheers for that, I think I've isolated my leak to the windscreen seal so just deciding whether of not to get it repaired professionally or use some sealant on it, I could clearly see water running down the windscreen pillar and past the drivers kick plate, not good:-(

Yeah the 'blue' verderers run gets used by all sorts even downhillers as you can quite a lick on on the last bit, top fun:-) Practice makes perfect they say, I hadn't been on my bike at all for almost six months so I was a little rusty, cased a few of the jumps and bottled a few bits, but good fun in the end! Catch up with you again swompy, I'm well into doing a few miles as well as going down as I need the exercise! ---------- Post added at 9:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:41 PM ---------- Yeah the 'blue' verderers run gets used by all sorts even downhillers as you can quite a lick on on the last bit, top fun:-) Practice makes perfect they say, I hadn't been on my bike at all for almost six months so I was a little rusty, cased a few of the jumps and bottled a few bits, but good fun in the end! Did look out for the mk3:-), we got there at about 12 and did that new downhill run the good bad and ugly, man I haven't been on the bike for prob six months and it did show! managed to clear all the doubles at the bottom though and then after we pushed up and just did the last verderers downhill run, still a top laugh for a blue rated track. maybe next time swompy, give me a shout, rounding up my lazy ass mates is hard work!
