Spotted a nice red VR this morning on the A57 in Warrington near the Trigger Pond pub traffic lights I gave a headlight flash and got a wave in return. First spot in ages :D

Just spotted this thread I had my zaust (VR) fitted at MIJ last year also had a sports cat fitted too and I was very happy with the results. They took 5 hours to fit it (its a long wait) but well worth it. Its never rattled once sounds great with a quiet rumble on tickover building up to a complimentary noise with the engine when giving it some stick. Most of the exhaust components are pre made and are then custom welded in place. Im pleased that you are happy with your system its nice to know that its one part of the car to forget about.

Well Ill start this off. Got the VR booked in for some work to be carried out on both front and rear bumpers. I inherrited scruffy looking bumpers and haven't got myself motivated to fix them. So this weekend they are going to be ground down to remove the cracks in the paintwork and then resprayed. Also at the same time going to remove some tiny bits of rust which are located underneath the rear spoiler above the number plate light sorround. What have you guys got planned?

WigsVR6 replied to pete_griff's topic in Members Gallery
Sorry to hear what as happened to you. I came on here to get an update on your gearbox only to find out that you've suffered burns to your chest whilst trying to save their shed of a car from blowing up  I hope you recover fully and quickley from this them pictures look nasty. I'd also sue them as well for your injuries surley if thats their loan car then it must be properly maintained with paper work to back this up. Back to your car. It looks sweeeet the engine sits in that bay very nicely and I'm so jelous :D I'm getting ideas in my head that i shouldn't be thinking about Get well soon Alan :D -
Pete Griff's 'Rado R32 - (Not quite!) Alive at last! :D

Hi Pete read through the whole thread last night and im very impressed wish I had the skills that you have shown. It must have been frustrating, to say the least, getting over that final hurdle after completing the engine build and being in the hands of the wiring guru to get the job finished. Not that I'm dissing him in anyway. Can I ask how does the engine sound in comparison to the 12v powerplant? Just that I've been in an Eos 3.2 and I wasn't that impressed it seemed to be toned down a little maybe due to more sound proofing. Good luck with the car I'm sure you'll have loads of fun. :D :D Oh and :notworthy: -

Here's me and cheers everyone

Thats tough to answer but the route upto Braemer was the more challenging drive whilst FW and Glen Coe possibly had the better scenery but put the two drives together and you get the perfect combination. I've just uploaded most of the photos taken and already I'm itching to get back up there I'm hooked :D :D I wish I lived nearer. Your very lucky to have that on your doorstep Im jealous lol :D :)

Ok heres some piccys of Merc and scenery :D :D

Well the girlfriend pulled a fast one on me and arrived at our house in a white C class Merc to take for the weekend and I was given a tough choice of that or the VR. Reluctently i plumped for the Merc a 2.2 turbo desiel job with auto box and flappy paddle gear change so the VR went back into the garage to fight for another day. I was suprised how well the Merc handled and while its not as quick it does have some poke to it. Anyway we had a fantastic time. Thanks to Corzin for the A7 route its an amazing road espicially south of Harwick :D On Saturday we did the whole of the route that coullstar recommended. What can I say? Its the most stunning route Ive ever driven simply amazing. Superlatives cannot describe how good this route is. Every corner brings to view another amazing landscape from valleys with streams and pine trees to skirting the top of the Cairngorm Mountains. Only seeing that ribbon of road stretched out before me with the twists and turns did I really regret not being in the C because these type of roads is where it belongs - Corrado country !! If you're thinking of doing something like this then you must at least check out this route. Its 261 miles in total and took 7 hours to complete and it as an added bonus of having very little traffic on the roads only around Fort William and Glen Coe the traffic gets heavy. coullstar- thanks mate for this route :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: i was blown away with it. Oh and the weather was fantastic over the 3 days- bonus :D :D I Know its not a Merc site but if anyone is interested I will post a couple of photo's when I've downloaded them.

Thanks coullstar we'll have a great time. The VR is washed and waxed cleaned inside all the levels are checked and ok tyre pressures are ok and like you say the weather looks like its going to be good. I'll take a few photo's whilst on tour and get them up on the members gallery when I get back :D
-
Well i've finally dug out a road atlas and I recon I can manage coullstars long run round in a day about 260 miles round trip. We will be heading up this Friday can't wait :D :D Bring it on!!
-
Thanks coullstar looks like im going to be spoilt for choice with any of the options mentioned. I can feel a headache coming on. Ill get out a good atlas and trace through all the routes and see what is possible and take it from there. I really wish i did have more time to explore and enjoy but you know how it is with kids ect, ect. I just hope the weather is kind. Anything but rain :D as i wont take any chances in the wet.

[/quote:25jf5l3d] This is great. Checked the map to see where it is relative to where im staying and it looks like i can include it as part of a loop for Saturday> :D
-
i want to thank all of you for your input and comments. It's fantastic. Leon you can certainly post your route and photo's it will give me some inspiration and something to look forward to.
-
Leon, I'll be travelling up on a Friday and after reading Corozins comments about the A7 thats the route i will be taking to get there ( thanks for the map too Corozin) :D Saturday will be the main/only day for experiencing the roads/scenery while I'm up there so I need to be able to get a route planned which will hopefully flow from one to the next. As for distance? I'm thinking of a round trip of 150 miles or so should be enough although its not going to be a rigid schedual quality over quantity is what I'm looking for. Sunday i'll be making my way home so over to Loch Ness FW then glen Coe.

VR6 - Failed water pump (now fixed with old pump pics)
WigsVR6 replied to Neil VR6's topic in Engine Bay
Great news glad its been sorted out for you :D :D -
Later on this month Im off to Bonney Scotland for a weekend of fun :D Ill be staying in Pitlochry Perthshire and Im wondering if anyone out there can recommend some great roads to check out and test both mine and the vr's capabilities. Im sure there's plenty of roads in that neck of the woods which are suitable for this purpose. Im not the kind of person who drives to the limit but its about time I found out how good this car really is and this will be the ideal place to do it. Time will be a limiting factor and I dont want to waste it by driving round aimlessly looking for possible candidates. Any recommdations from you guys would be much appreciated. Thanks

VR6 - Failed water pump (now fixed with old pump pics)
WigsVR6 replied to Neil VR6's topic in Engine Bay
Hi Neil this sounds like the waterpump to me. I had the same noise coming from my vr too and thought it was something more serious. Although the noise wasnt always there it was intermettent and had me thinking of the timing chain ect. However the waterpump finally gave up so i nursed the C to a local garage and had them fix it for me. When I went back to pick the car up the garage showed me the old pump and all but 2 of the impellors had sheared off  I never thought the noise and pump were connected until after the repair now the engine sounds great with no rattles what so ever :D
