Yep too late for me now. What is the diameter of a stock VR exhaust?
-
Well I got the OD callipers out and the outside diameter is just a tad over 2 inches. I checked at a couple of different locations along the exhaust.

I'll come out of the woodwork as I've got a twilight violet too. For me the colour looks best when the sun is getting low and the light levels are starting to fade it brings out the different flecks in the paint. Looks amazing. It seems theres quite a few admirers of the colour out there. Have you noticed its difficult to get the true colour represented using a digital camera? Sometimes the colour can look more black than TV

Wow is there no limits to your skills? I want to cry everytime I look at this thread. I'm so ashamed of my lack of skills :D

^^ Off the top of my head I think its 2.5 inches I'll get the OD callipers out at work and verify that though

Why not save the hassle and buy a VR?
-
When I had mine done the mechanic couldn't remove the bolts from the break compensator. On my advice I told him to burn the bracket then weld it up again after the job had been completed.

I've got one on my VR and I'm very happy with it. No knocks or rattles very tight fitting. Sounds nice on tickover (nice burble) and not chav loud at motorway speeds. Sounds sweet when the engine is pushed further up the rev range (so I've been told anyway) IIRC you get to choose how loud you want the system rated 1 to 10. I chose 5 mid sports. It takes some time to fit and its located in the middle of an industrial estate so take a book to read or something to stop boredom. As stated above the rear box is low but you'll save some weight as the middle box is removed. Also I had a sports cat installed too think I paid £120 for that. Alan

I had my rear axle bushes replaced last year £33.61 each. The labour came to £180 @ 4 1/2 hours plus £37 VAT. Not a bad price considering how bad a job it is.This work was carried out by a WV specailist. HTH Alan

Cheers Critical Mass they are exactly the same tyres I got put on the rear of my C last Friday only done 50 miles in them but first impressions are good
-
Yes me too looks like some further research will be required when I get some time

Stunning car mate makes me go weak at the knees just looking at the pictures let alone seeing it in the flesh. Also happy to read in your other thread that you still love your Corrado.

Wish I had more technical expertease to help you out with your problem. I just look at the more simple solutions first. How are your rear tyres? I know it dosn't answer the noise issue coming from the rear of your car but it might be something as simple as that. I've just bought two new tyres for the rear of my C and I must admit that I feel more confident taking corners with a little more speed. I always felt that the rear of the car wanted to step put on me and I'm not an agressive driver by nature. In fact one time it did step out out on me and I ended up drifting side ways on a round a bout lightly damaging the front of my car. That was in wet weather though and I wasn't going that fast! Cheers Alan

Thats aqua gleam is a really intersting product. Can I ask how much did you pay for it Kempy? It would save lots of time on drying. Also how long does the media last for and does it need replacing with use? Could be well worth the investment. Cheers Alan

Thanks dukest for your advice. Yes they do look very nice in the advert however after your thoughts I'll give em a miss. You saved me some money and heartache. Cheers Alan

Ok guys hope you can give me some advice regarding wheels and ET. There is a set up for sale they are 5 stud 16" * 7" with an ET of 53. They come supplied with spacers 35mm per side front and 45mm per side rear. I know my speedies are et 43. I was wondering if these would look ok on my C and what would the difference be between the two? Also would there be any chance of rubbing ect. My C is lowered (I dont know by how much) and as standard breaks. I know nothing about ETs at all so before I bid I thought I'd ask you guys. Any help/advice would be welcome. Thanks Alan

Hi Swompy Stick to your guns and keep the valver alive its great to hear that someone is prepared to spend big money and get the engine back up to where it should be. I admire your determination and dedication and this will keep the numbers of valvers in good condition rather than letting it go for he sake of a VR :D

should the AUX water pump run when ignition is on ?
WigsVR6 replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
Mine also runs with just the ignition on. A small benifit is warm air still comes through the vents when the engine is switched off. -
Any more updates 20vturbo (sorry don't know your name maybe God :D )

Its something that we all go through owning Corrados. I dont know much about the ABS system but getting your C hooked up to VAG COM would illiminate alot of wasted time. Putting your foot on the brake pedal whilst turning on the ignition key should induce a pulse which you should be able to feel on the brake pedal if the ABS system is working.

Spotted a dark colured VR6 in Winsford around 14 45. Got a nice casual wave from the mum driver. I followed you in the hope of having a convoy however you turned left at the next set of traffic lights :( M reg I think

Have they got nothing else better to do than this? They just like poking their noses in everybodys buisines. Can't they do something more creative with their lives like knitting yogart or something.
-
I agree with everyone else who as replied. 3k sounds a reasonable price and personally I would want to buy a car knowing that money as been spent on the essentail items rather than cosmetic appearance of the car. There are people out there with the cash its just a waiting game. Please dont break it let someone else have the pleasure of owning one of these fantastic cars.

Think you've opened up yourself a large can of worms LOL. Good luck in what ever you decide to do but make sure you open up a new build thread it would make interesting reading.
