  1. I've got the dreaded ABS light of doom on constantly although when I turn on the ignition and press the brake pedal I do feel the pulse. I need to know the location of the sensors front and back. Do I need to take the wheels off for access? Are there any tips from anyone who as done this in the past what needs to be done/what checks I can carry out. Alan
  2. I'll have a look over the weekend weather permitting i'm a total novice when it comes to mechanics so fingers crossed. If I do find an obvious fault will I still need to plug into Vagcom to reset? I have a laptop so I'll need the software installed and cable to hook up. Where would I get the software from? Where does the cable plug into in the car?
  3. Thanks for the kind offer millerman I live too far away from you to take you up on it I'm based in Widnes. I'll have a look at the sensors on each wheel and hope I can find something obvious.
  4. Hi Guys Ive had intermitent problems with the ABS light since I've owned the car. Usually the light will stay on for a day or so then everything returns to normal for months however for the last week the ABS light has stayed on with no signs of it going out. I've tried the ignition/push in break pedal test and I do get a pulse through the pedal. Here is a noob question Is it possible to reset the ECU or disconnect /reconnect the wires in the hope of resetting the ABS as a starting point before looking into the wheel sensors ect? Cheers Alan
  5. Wait till September when the taxman puts an extra 2p/l on. Last week the local garage put his prices up 3 times. Supply and demand is a factor however its the greedy Government with its exopbitent Tax regeme which is to blame for the price of fuel in this country.
  6. My VR emitts a very annoying squeek from the shelf which hides the fuse box it drives me crazy also the sunroof can bang and clatter about. Not bad for a 14 year old car though

  8. Very nice build thread Icevoilet you've got great skills that you've demonstrated here. Wish I had them :( . The inlet looks fantastic well worth the effort and finishes off the engine bay nicely. Glad to see an engine being rebuilt and restored and Im sure once its been run in the effort will pay off.

  18. My god ugly bloke give some one else a chance. You've spotted more in the last few days then I've spotted in 18 months of ownership LOL really jellous because C's look amazing when you see them on the road :D
  19. I was having a look under the front of the C yesterday and noticed a red anti roll bar running under the engine connecting the front wheels. Is this item a standard part which came when the car was made or an after market job?
  20. I might be barking up the wrong tree here but my mate as an Eos its a 3.2 coupled to an auto box with flappy paddle control too not sure if its DSG though but even in this setup its fast as fook

  22. Had the pleasure of reading the whole thread in one go and I'm blown away by your skills and attention to detail :notworthy: Cant wait to see the end results of the respray cant be long now.
  23. Sorry to hear this as happened to you. I know how you feel the same thing happened to me last September when i had my Mazda 6 and my gfs company car both stolen. Both cars were found eventually the Mazda was a right off total front end damage whilst my gfs car was found with all the panels damaged and a large HD tv in the back! We got a lucky break though because when the Mazda crashed the air bag went off and the thieving scroats DNA was splattered all over it HA HA. He only got 1 year for breaking into my house and robbing 2 cars. At least he was caught though. I hope you get yours back in one piece and my story hasn filled you with dread.
  24. Hi Pete Ill post this here rather than hijack your thread for selling parts. Just want to say Im gutted for you, as many have said. The car is a testament to your skills and dedication to perfection. It must be breaking your heart to do this. I'm sad thinking about it. Do you know why the clutch was wearing down so quickley? Good luck with the sale of your parts ect. Hope to still see you active on the forum. Alan :(
