  1. Well said that man. I especially like..."If memory serves you only fitted them earlier this year' as I had thought the same thing. For the majority of people, the majority of the time, normal tyres suffice. I'm not saying winter tyres aren't better, they obviously are, but they're not essential to stop a car from toppling onto it's roof. As Ben put it, you wouldn't drive around with inadequate brakes. However, many people modify their cars, increasing the power output etc etc without doing a whole load to their stoppers. It isn't the brakes that will get these people into trouble however, it is the fact that they drive too fast in the first place. Normal tyres, used within their limitations, will do. Whether that is good enough is a matter of personal preference but again, don't tar everyone with the same brush of'If you have normal tyres, you are obviously a crap driver'. As Wullie said, only 6 weeks ago, you were a crap driver too. Rant number two over.
  2. That's exactly what I was after! I'll take one for definite. Let me know if you can get them at trade & how much you want to post it. Once it's installed I'll get some pics up-I'm hoping it's going to look fairly OEM without ruining the dash!
  3. That's the thing - it won't fit a late dash at all. I expect I could modify the clip by heating it up and bending it to the right shape but I was wondering if the air vents in a late Corrado are shared with another model so I can buy an off-the-shelf clip instead?
  4. I want to fit a Brodit Proclip iPhone mount in the C, a late spec VR6. The only clip I can find is to fit an early spec VR6 via the glove box. Does the late spec interior share its centre console air vents with any other model? Passats, Vento's, that sort of thing? Or has anyone come across a Proclip that does fit??
  5. Bit of a resurrection but was the Brodit kit any good, even though it was in the Fiesta? I'm looking for a mount that fits inside the stereo area so I don't need to drill the trim. I also don't want a suction-mounted one as I already have this and it just looks a bit naff. Any ideas?
  6. Sounds like a few of the Turbo'd C's on here with TC fitted!!
  7. Mines called Gwbert (pronounced Goobut if you're not Welsh). I used to have a Yellow Fiat Seicento (when I was a student so needed an economical runner!) called Bruce!!
  8. They are cheap cheap!! I'm tempted to see if they'll convert mine. Not sure what they'll make of a supercharged VR mind. May give them a tinkle and find out. At those sort of prices, if you're doing more than 12,000 miles a year in a VR then it makes financial sense straight away.
  9. Biased green/cream vote here but I've got nothing against mystic/black. I actually think mystic/cream would be a gorgeous combo!!
  10. Just to add my 2p.... A guy I play footy with has a standard RS and from the lights on the way home, nothing in it up to 100. I'm probably pushing out around 295bhp now I think so fairly evenly matched. I've spent maybe 5k on my C now (wheels, suspension, SC etc) and I think it handles and goes absolutely great. Friend of mine had a blast in it last week-end and you couldn't take the grin off his face! His daily is an old-style Civic Type R, but he's also owned an S2000 and a 911. He reckoned it was quicker than the S2000 and gave the 911 a run for it's money on the grin stakes (I've already dusted him in the Type R) so I think Corrado's can be fantastic with a bit of investment. That said, for 10k, there are many options (as discussed in innumerable threads) which could put a grin on your face.
  11. Have you got a link for your eBay sensor? Is it changed and working OK now?
  12. That doesn't show anything! Besides going completely off thread with half a dozen pics of your car leaking, you've shown headlight pictures in broad daylight! :cuckoo: And they can't be that bright as your camera flash went off!
  13. Couldn't agree more. Get a house, pay it off in 15 years, you're 41 with a house, no mortgage and a huge amount of cash for a brand new 911 Turbo (if you put money that you may have spent on a mortgage into an account you can't touch). The problem you may find is that you have 100k that you then think 'Do I really want to blow this on a car or should I put my kids through Uni'?! Decisions decisions! By the way, what do you do to be in such an enviable position at 26?!
  14. Sorry chaps, I'm going to have to bail out of this. I've got a busy few months coming up and I'm just not going to have the time to get it installed. I'll watch with interest as people get them fitted and start posting 0-60 times!
  15. OH, bugger it. Been umming and ahhing about this since I saw the thread but I do like the sound of another gadget. Can I still join?! Maybe you can give the supercharger a once over when I get round to coming up for you to fit it Vince?
  16. Looked good, get some pics up on your thread.
  17. That was me! Have to say your Corrado looked awesome as it went past, looked very composed seeing as you weren't hanging around! I was wondering if it would be someone on here! Was it matt black or were my eyes playing tricks on me?
  18. Not 100% as I passed it at some speed but pretty sure I saw a slammed matt black C on the M4 around Cardiff around 7.40 today. Not sure about the 'matt' bit, if it was it looked sweet! Gave the thumbs up but I was gone before I got a reply! You were following a 911 at the time.
  19. I don't know if it's something you require or are interested in but I have a Wavetrac Limited Slip Differential which you may be interested in to help you on your way? I bought it on the recent group buy but I'm not going to get round to fitting it so if you're interested, let me know. I'm after what I paid for it - £663 delivered. Could shave a couple of seconds off your lap times!!
  20. I went to the Monaco grand prix last year and sat on the first corner, just before they tear up the hill. Yes, it's loud, but not horrendously so. I had a pair of in-ear buds that I wear when biking and didn't even wear these all the time. As has been said, it is part of the experience but quite right, you don't want to ruin your hearing. Two hours of intermittent noise shouldn't do that though. For a tenner mind, getting a decent set of proper ear defenders won't break the bank. Have fun!

  22. In my humble opinion (and bearing in mind I haven't had any experience in a turbo'd C) the supercharger route is a pretty good way to go. OK, you're not going to get as much power as a turbo, but it's relatively hassle-free (from my experience so far anyway) and at relatively small expense. All the guys on here who seem to be running turbo's seem to be changing hoses here, pipes there....I'm doing at least 40 miles a day and have had no issues what so ever. I would love to have a go in a turbo and I'm sure I'd fall in love, but 300bhp from a SC is good fun and mine seems to kick in around 2500-3000rpm - after 5000rpm it goes mental. All that and I'm getting around 26mpg cruising on the motorway at 90-100 for my commute, I think 30 would be achievable if I was more sensible. A tank of petrol will last me about 350 miles doing my fast motorway commute mainly. A few weeks ago I did a 400 mile round trip from Cardiff to Liverpool in 30+ degree heat and it was fine all the way...engine temps sat around 106, up to 110 when I booted it, and that was four up. Personally, I love the noise it makes. I'm no chav but like a good engine note and it's certainly got that now. Just my 2p but I think if you're looking for hassle-free power, SC is hard to beat. :tumbleweed:
  23. 300bhp is plenty from a SC! It transforms the way the car pulls. After 3500rpm, its an animal, before that it's fairly standard. Loving all the shiny bits...that's one thing I wish I had the time to do to mine. When it's not my daily then maybe!! Good luck with the rest of the install, hope there aren't any surprises!
  24. Wouldn't mind seeing a pic - mine have seen better days!!
  25. I've yet to fit mine so it's still up for sale if anyone wants it?!
