I've just bought bananawhip's Schrick and need to get it from Staines, West London, to Cardiff. I've never couriered anything before and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to get it done. Do I have to ask bananawhip to take it to a drop-off centre or can I get it picked up from his house/work? Also, how would it need to be packaged and what does it weigh?? What companies are the best? Tried to use the DHL website but got stuck with dimensions and weight of the article. Any help would be much appreciated!

I know it's a vulgar thing to ask, but what does a car like that cost? I don't mean to build etc, but what would the finished market value be?? -
Cheers guys, that's what I thought. Stuff them, I'll do it myself!

My cars in the garage at the moment having a little car-park scrape resprayed (on third parties insurance) and asked about getting the bonnet done at the same time. Does £350 (incl. VAT) sound like a lot? Sounds steep to me but overheard them chatting and think it's because they've got plenty of work on and can't really be arsed to do it. What do people think? Would like to get it done but not at silly prices.

I do most of my commuting towards Bridgend. I am around though! Still going well. Having bedded in and got used to it, it's slightly louder than I was after when you put your foot down but at cruising speed it's great. However, I'm seriously considering going down Vince's Turbo Package route so the exhaust will get a little louder then I'd imagine!! -
It's a different set-up to VR clocks by the looks of it. Have a little fiddle about and be patient - you'll get there!

How long are you looking at the car being with you for this? When are you taking first orders?

Check that the little plastic nipple that the needle connects to is straight. If it seems like it is, gently twist it about the amount that would get the needle to sit at the zero point when the engine is off. When you turn the engine on, it should gently raise to the required level. Make sense?!

They unplug together - sort of like a SCART connector on a TV. -
Just tried doing a routeplanner to Dubai - Google Maps gets as far as Ankara, Turkey, and bottles it! 2,400 miles to get there, and by my reckoning, probably another 2,000 after that!! Without aircon, I reckon that's at least 2 weeks accomodation, booze and maybe a couple of nights paid for in a top notch suite too!!

Don't worry about it - we all go through the same thing!! Loads of posts on here with people whinging abour their cars...they all keep them going though! When I finally got my dash all working and back in place, got a warm fuzzy feeling!! You won't get that with a 2002 Polo!!!

Definitely a job to do in lots of light and with a little pot for the bits you take off!

I did exactly the same thing when I tried to change a bulb in my dash! (See the other thread on here for how to change the LCD bulbs on a late model - which yours is - set of clocks) Not sure about the cutting out thing, but regarding the temp and petrol needles, you need to take that 'pod' out and fiddle about with the needles. Photos would be really helpful here sorry but I'll do my best to describe as well as I can.... So, with the pod out, unscrew the 2 little screws that hold the black dial cover on (the bit that has the numbers etc on). Gently remove the needles by GENTLY pulling them directly upwards. They are held onto little plastic nipples and will come off but try not to twist them while doing so. Remove the black cover you undid the screws for. You will now so a weird little assembly that moves the needles. This is the bit you need to 'recalibrate' by re-aligning all the pieces. You will see what you need to do when it is in front of you (this is where the pictures would be helpful!) You may need to gently twist the plastic nipples that poke through the dial face so that the needles position themselves properly. Screws everything back together and give it a go. I hope that's been some help...PM me if not! Last tip - keep the petrol topped up until you get this done!

The instructions above are for earlier models I believe. Mine is a '95 VR6 but your clocks sound the same as mine. You need to begin by taking the whole clock cluster out (not as tricky as it sounds).... The screws will be in the white bits in this photo (the bits above the arrowed bits!) Be careful when you remove the screws not to drop them behind the dash!! Once they're out, the clocks unit will be loose but held in by a cable clipped into place at the back, behind the RPM dial. Unclip this and jiggle the whole clock cluster out. Once out, look on the back and you'll see the bulbs recessed into the unit. Voila!! -
I'm sure lots of people know about it already but best to have a read.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8487381.stm

Black lowered 'rado with crystal rear lights, spotted about 40 minutes outside Geneva!! Never see any when I'm home, go skiing for a week and spot a minter!!

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! As much as people may rave about them, French cars SUCK! My misses has a 206 and I detest it. Everything about it is awful - driving position, gear change, engine, road noise. Much better to stay with a German mark if you're after reliability too I think.

Is that with a change of the green acetate strip as well? Or did you just remove it completely and let the colour of the LED's shine through? -
Hey budy If you would be so kind in being patient for a few days untill I have posted the first lot of stickers. Then I will start with the new ones :D No probs, I'm away for a week from Saturday so will be after that for payment unless you want me to pay now? I'm in no rush to receive them, just supporting a good cause!

How much brighter is the display with LED's? Any other differences? Bluer light? -
I'll have two please. PM me payment details if you would!

Wait until you see the Corrado's that have been dropped a couple of inches! I thought mine looked awesome until I realised it was on stilts! Good price too - I reckon you got a steal (assuming it doesn't break the bank in the first 3 months!)

That's got new wing written all over it. Cheaper, simpler and a better result in the end I'd reckon.
