More than a hint of TT to that! Agree that the C is way up there. Maserati 4200?

Daft question, but I upgraded to 288 calipers last year but fancy tarting them up to nice red ones. Been on here : http://www.biggred.co.uk/caliperpricing.html and think I will splash out and get them done for me, but what calipers have I got? Golf Mk 3? I thought they were Mk 4 to be honest but may well be wrong. Are there different types of 288 calipers?

Seems like good deals can be had then? I know insurers have targets to hit monthly so try going back to them later in the month and see if they're a bit more flexible then. Just confused.commed my car with the supercharger, lowered, alloys, roll bars and exhaust as modifications and the cheapest was £509. That was with an £800 excess though!

I'm with Privilege and have been for a few years. I'm 28, clean licence, no accidents and paid £363 this year on my Storm (1 group higher than a standard VR according to my insurers). Last year I paid about £390, they quoted me over £400 for my renewal and after a quick phone call to tell them I was going to cancel, they knocked nearly £50 off. I'm sure it'll go up a bit when I tell them about the impending mods but not a bad quote to start with I don't think. I went on http://www.confused.com initially and tinkered about with different things - adding my wife, playing around with excesses etc. Worth spending half an hour doing as the savings can be superb

I was using this argument in a discussion with my Dad when trying to justify 'charging the C. I know it's different, but 300bhp doesn't come much cheaper than a 2k Corrado and supercharger kit, does it? And on the issue in hand, Golf everytime. My mate has the Scirocco, and nice as it is, it's not where the smart money is spent.

My quest for the perfect Storm! Now supercharged..

I just can't make my mind up can I?! I'm now the proud owner of a set of Schimmel 263's, a Schrick inlet mani and a VF Vortech supercharger set-up! It's not all going to be fitted and I have the Schrick up for sale now but the lure of 300bhp was too much :D I am a little nervous about the whole thing as the C is my only set of wheels at the moment (other than my Triumph ST1050 :norty: ) but I figure nothing ventured, nothing gained! Will keep everyone posted on developments as they happen. -
OK, no worries, think I may have found one I can try. All looks lovely by the way and I'm in the camp that favours the all silver wheels. Complement the car beautifully. Good work!
-
Is this one stock? I didn't think it was. If not, do you still have it and would you part with it?!
-
Bit of a random question but what aerial do you have? Mine has perished & I don't really like the look of the standard one or the tiny little beesting ones. Nor do I like the all metal ones - I DO like the rubberised ones! Would yours fit the bill? Looks a good size for starters!
-
Report off the misses - green C spotted around Abergavenny. Apparantly "not as shiny as yours but the alloys looked pretty"! Women :camp:

I'm thinking of getting a Passat CC as my daily - advice pls
greasegriff replied to Mawrick's topic in General Car Chat
Good looking car. Get the TDI, get it re-mapped to 200bhp. Winner. -
Where you off? Pleasure not work hopefully! And just as the weather is turning too!
-
I have my bike SORN'd and insured. My insurance company said obviously I couldn't drive it but it's then covered for fire and theft.
-
How viable is running a VR-T as a daily? I do 12,000 miles a year, mostly down the motorway. Would this take it's toll on the engine or could I wake up and know that I'm not going to have any trouble? I've currently got the C booked in with Vince for fitment of a Schrick, Schimmel cams and a re-map in April but GOD-DAMN am I tempted to change my plans! :norty: (I'd appreciate some advice off someone with experience of owning & running a VR-T over a long-ish period please!)

So what am I getting? These (DP3981C) http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/car/parts_pad.asp?part=pad&make=VOLKSWAGEN&model=Golf&year=2%2E8+VR6+%2892%2D95%29# And are 288mm VW discs just generic?
-
Probably a very simple answer but I have upgraded my front brakes to the 288mm variety. What discs and pads do I need to replace what is now on these? I've been looking an Red/Green Stuff pads as a compromise on price/quality. What car should I be matching these too? A Mk 4 Golf? Is that what the 288mm calipers would have come from? Also, not really sure what discs I need. Any help from knowledgeable people would be great!

METTALIC BLACK VR6 CORRADO STOLEN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
greasegriff replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
Regarding the alarm.... A guy I work with has a relatively new TTS. His misses has a Mini. A few weeks ago, both of there cars were found unlocked in the morning. They both swear blind that they wouldn't have left them unlocked. Nothing stolen although my mate had left his wallet inside and they nicked the cash and emptied his cards down the street. He went to the Audi garage to find out if they could shed any light on it but they had no idea. He is a bit dippy but strange that both the cars were unlocked! -
Silver 'rado spotted coming off the A48 at Pontprennau today in Cardiff. Pretty chica driving and exchanged glances - too shy to give her a wave!!
-
The definitive Rear 280mm thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=68661 I've read that but nowhere does it say what I need! Are the calipers the same and just the discs and carriers are different? Where would I find the right carriers then?
-
Been looking into this too. I have upgraded to 288 fronts and have been wondering about about going to 312. Can I keep the same calipers and just change to discs or am I being stupid? Also, what is required to do a 280 rear set-up?
-
Don't do huge amounts of maintenance myself but just bought these because they're a bargain!! Gonna be a James May and just tidy them lots I think!
-
A place called Motorvation in Bridgend. Its not far from where I work and I've had work done there before and been really impressed. I know they're a good garage, just a bit miffed by the price. As far as I know, they'd just have been doing the bonnet. It's got the usual stone chips but not in bad nick by any means, and no rust. They quoted for a full rub down, prime and respray but still, £350 seems a bit rich! Told them to leave it now anyway - I'm ploughing my money into Schimmels, a Schrick, re-map and a Stealth service! Should be money better spent me thinks! :norty:
-
And with red calipers too...my next mod I think.
-
I do like them standard. Black look sweet though!

Change of plan again....bought myself a Schrick manifold off bananawhip! Been wondering about this since..... I'd been keeping an eye out then saw this and thought why not! Love the idea of a turbo but can't really justify that kind of money for the time being. It's being delivered in the next few days so next step is to have a chat with Vince at Stealth and book the baby in to have the Schrick and Schimmel cams fitted and a map to tie it all together. Can't wait!!
