Opinions on police fine please ...
greasegriff replied to UseOnceDestroy's topic in General Car Chat
Got to agree. I got pulled doing a similar speed and let off, but the copper was more annoyed that my observation hadn't made me see him. He was a decent guy and I fully admitted being over the limit and knowing what speed I was doing. Taught me a lesson anyway - if you are going to try your luck and nudge over the speed limit, keep your eyes peeled. As for the number plate, it is bad luck but as someone said above, they were going to fine you one way or another if they didn't have evidence of you speeding. Probably lucky they didn't check all the tyre treads, pressures etc etc as well! Either way, if you are going to break the Polo, you'll make back your £60 so put it down to experience and move on. -
Yanks. A completely different (and seemingly far less evolved) breed.

My quest for the perfect Storm! Now supercharged..

I was wondering that but then I saw one of the Turbo's that just sold on here that had 312's on it. And that was pushing out 400bhp. I'm not going to be anywhere near that so my 288's should do for now with some new pads & discs! -
Hi, I detailed Jackflash's Corrado, here is the write up :)

Do you mind me asking what you charge for that sort of work? I'd love to get mine done! -

OK, the time has come! My little baby is off to Stealth on her hols tomorrow to have : 1. Schrick 2. 263 cams 3. Vortech V9 supercharger 4. General service 5. Map to tie it all together Think she's gonna be away for a week or two but I can't wait!! I'm hoping I'll have some sexy road tests to report when I get her back! -
N reg Mystic Blue Storm on the M4 heading West from Reading yesterday about 6ish. Gave him the thumbs up as I let him pass but didn't even get a wave - hope it's not someone on here - how rude you are if it is! And if it is, your car needs a damn good wash!
-
This idea just gets cheaper and cheaper!!
-
It's not gonna get tracked. Shame because I did fancy Brembo's. Curb appeal mostly  Maybe I'll just paint some 312's red and Tip-Ex 'Brembo' on the side!
-
This is starting to sound like a non-starter! And after reading Shauns (Stormcharged~VR6) thread, it appears he's running 312's with over 400bhp. Not likely I'm going to be hitting those heights so maybe a 312 set-up will do?!

Donjon's classic green storm. Return from yorkshire...
greasegriff replied to Donjon's topic in Members Gallery
Definately! You have made a wise choice! Enjoy standing out from the crowd, you can't put a price on that. -
Was thinking too, it would be wrong to sell it in such an un-roadworthy state. Surely you should give the new owner the appropriate stopping power?!
-
That post was ominously past tense. Has a decision been made then?

Good luck! Category 17 I think for a Storm! Still worth every penny of the £1500 it'll cost you! -
Before you sell and never visit the CF again, can I ask what brakes you're running under your CH's? I've got a thread running where I'm questioning clearance of RXII's over Brembo 323's. Yours look spot on!
-
Would I need to space the rears as well, or just the fronts?
-
OK, thanks for the info. Decisions need to be made then. The main problem is finding a wheel that will accommodate the Brembo's and that I like. As you say, RXII's are lovely and I don't really want to get rid if possible!
-
What's the exact problem? The wheels will be further out and so are likely to rub? Or a strength issue? Or handling?
-
Don't suppose you still have the spacers and bolts do you?
-
I knew you lot would pull through!! This place is fantastic, the combined knowledge is a Godsend for people like me who buy first, think later!! I'm happy enough with 323 discs from EBC probably, seem good value and a reliable company. So, where to get good quality 3mm spacers?
-
OK, cheers buddy. Found some 321mm discs for an Astra VXR that are 28mm thick but I'm not sure 2mm will make a whole lot of difference?! Could do with some 312's I think if this is to work! And that's if the wheels will accomodate the depth of the caliper. Anyone know about that? There must be someone out there who has tried this!
-
Anyone???
-
If you do sell, I'm very jealous of whoever gets it. Surely you couldn't get as good a car for anything under 10k??
-
As is usually the case, I have made a rash decision and spent out (well, not yet but it be rude if I didn't pay now!) on a 323mm Cupra R Brembo set-up (these.... I've currently got 17" BBS RXII's fitted - are these going to fit underneath without spacers? If not, what are my options other than changing wheels? How do I go about spacing them and is this going to cause clearance issues with the arch? It's on KW V1's and dropped to within 1 finger width tyre-to-arch as it is so I'm guessing this would have to change? Can I just use a smaller disc? What would people suggest? 305? 312? If I'm OK to stay at 323, are these any good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEAT-LEON-CUPRA-323MM-EBC-TURBO-GROOVE-FRONT-BRAKE-DISC_W0QQitemZ290373525988QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item439b9c61e4 So many questions, so little knowledge!!

Good spot. I'm in the same camp - looks good if you don't have to stick the plate in a daft position. Again, absolutely no help as to how to go about it. Chewing gum and plywood? EDIT : And Polyfiller?

Next time you go past them, drop it into second and boot it. Gotta be worth a letter off the fuzz!
