 I do find your signature very amusing, although I too suffer from those modifications!
-
Good point, they're not cheap (about £120 IIRC) but if you have no luck otherwise then this is worth a go.
-
Apart from a possible botch job by yourself the unit is sealed so nothing can be replaced, unfortunately I had the same problem, not cheap but a damn sight easier to fit than the primary pump!!
-
Glad to hear it mate, nothing worse than an already hot running engine getting bloody hot!! :)
-
Just lift off the gearstick surround (carefully) and take a look at the socket. The two different types are very different. There are both types for sale on ebay, all around the £20-30 mark, even ones which include both types together!

Hmm, I would personally only clean the bay when cold, I use Hammerite degreaser (spray on liberally) and then jet wash off. Steam cleaning can be dodgy as it gets to places water can't, can also play havoc with electrics, even if you have taken precautions.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-KKL-for-Audi- ... dZViewItem This is what I have, works perfectly with VAG-COM 409-1 free software. There are plenty more on ebay, it's not as comprehensive as Kev's full monty kit but will show most faults and allow you to erase them. You need to make sure yours is the 16pin plug, I'm not sure which models/years had the 2+2 setup.
-
I suggest you all get it on VAG-COM, ISV could be the problem, MAF could also, change the fuel filter. VAG-COM will report most problems. I use to have stalling issues when slowing from high speeds (if I dipped the clutch) a new battery solved that problem. Something people tend to forget about.

Regarding the thermo switch, you need to give GSF your chassis number, there is more than one 3-pin switch (they only have one on their catalogue, 93478), they also do a 93479, check to make sure. Try the same with the rad as well mate. The catalogue and indeed their computers don't list everything when typing in Corrado, you need to be more specific (ie chassis number etc). :)

Yeah, the fans aren't 100% square with each other so that wouldn't help, the bearings seem fine, I just wished that VW made the V-Wheel with higher sides, surely that would have retained the belt with no drawbacks? Oh well I'll just go without the air-con I think, don't use it that much anyway, unless I'm stuck in traffic! ...and in the future I'll use caution when it comes to awry humour, don't want Social Services banging on my door!
-
Hmm, just 2 comments on my obviously far too wry humour, is this problem as unique as I thought (and I don't mean my sardonic wit)?

TO SMACK THEM BAS*ARDS 'TIL THEY CRY THEMSELVES TO SLEEP! Sorry, that's how my kids make me feel sometimes. Seriously now, my fan belt (the elastic band which link the rad fans) has come off 3 times now over the last month or so. Now strange though it may seem it only happens when I use the air-con! Is this just a huge coincidence or does the air-con affect the way the fans cut in (stop/start jerk, quicker rpm?). The belt is a new one as the original came off some time back and got chewed up, I know it sounds mad but it hasn't come off since last summer. Help would be good, cheers

Not long after I bought my C I had a Nova right up my arse at a set of lights, me in my VR thought right 'ave some of this! I give it everything and after about a quarter of a mile I was only a few car lengths in front!! Very humbling experience...
-
Couldn't agree more.
-
There is one about that I know of which has been tuned to rally spec and has an alleged 650Bhp! An apparent 0-60 of 2.5 seconds is totally mental.
-
I'm quite happy with my standard one, IMO the C doesn't look right with "mad" tailpipes, subtle works best for me.
-
My brothers mate had a Pulsar (swapped it for his girlfriends Suzuki Jimni!! She didn't even know  ) It was a quick car (0-60 in 5.5 IIRC) and the 4WD was very good, he spent out about £300 for some special air filter that added an unbelievable amount of extra Bhp. I've never come up against one yet, but I'm sure the C VR would definately be a match for it.
-
No need to apologise mate, I have a good knowledge of cars, although how they work is not something I have any knowledge about at all  And I've just realised you have a Storm at 22. Lucky git :) I bet the insurance is a joke.
-
I'm not quite sure what your trying to show me but the RS200 is no Escort (although it has been refered to as an Escort). The chassis was built from scratch, it has a Cosworth engine, and a monocoque glassfibre/kevlar body (designed by Ghia). AFAIK the only bits that were not made specifically for the RS200 were various parts from the Sierra (windscreen, rear lights etc). No Escort, believe me. :) EDIT: Although to be fair the Cosworth lump was an enlarged derivative of the Escorts RS1700T, but that's as close as the link gets!
-
Escort??? How very dare you... RS200 Yep rare indeed. Ballistic cars.
-
Yeah, I think the Jap's ripped off the Aston Martin look with the front end and then run out of ideas for the back! Cheap and nasty feel, yep I couldn't agree more, they do feel as if your driving around in a vacuum formed bit of plastic.
-
I'm not quite sure intelligence is what made a chap I know spend over 15K on his Nova only to sell it for £2500! Maybe I'm wrong but I class that as stupidity. And anyway you can upgrade everything if you like, but is the chassis on a Nova/Corsa up to the job of handling 300+Bhp? Hmm, something tells me no... Back to topic, the only way a Mivec (GPX) will eat you is if you accidently drive into the 48" exhaust pipe most seem to have
-
My brother-in-law has a FTO V6 Mivec (manual) and I can beat it comfortably from start to finish. His is an import, standard apart from a ridiculous exhaust and I agree with Kev, when I first went out in it I didn't believe it was a V6 because it sounded so lame. It only starts really pulling from about 5500rpm and by then I've long gone! I believe the standard spec is 0-60 in 7.3 seconds, which going by his feels about right. They look faster than they are, believe me. :)
-
Would they quote speeds in KPH? Gavin Feck knows mate, all I know is an impact at 84mph would obliterate everything! If the police are called to an accident which is not an open/close case then unfortunately they will endeavour until conclusion. Insurance companies will ask for all available data, hoping they won't have to pay out a penny
-
Hmm, if they are that accurate then surely the lad who was doing a supposed 84mph would have killed himself, you and the girl??!! I've seen crashes from motorway speeds and believe me 84mph would be fatal to all unless you were very, very lucky. You sure the results were not given in kph?
