  1. Thank you for lesson 129 my good tutor. :)
  2. Yep, when my MAF got buggered (by me  ), it would start but keep dying until the engine was warmed up. And performance was shat along with pulling at gear changes and strange idling. The only thing that didn't seem to affect the overall performance was when my lambda probe was somehow disconnected, apart from blowing the emission tests through the roof it was fine!

    Windscreen Seal

Not unless you know what you are doing! Ask a local Autoglass if they would take it out and reseat properly, never know they might do you a deal.
  4. No, as that is not a Corrado as much as the 205 isn't

    Windscreen Seal

Yes I understand what your saying, and if the screen is the same as mine then that "raise" is part of the screen itself, it is made with a surround attached to it. That gap isn't where the water is getting through, it is sealed to the screen, but the screen may not be sealed properly to the car. As I said mine and I believe all C's have the screen glued to the car, with a silicon of some sort.

    Windscreen Seal

No ofcourse not but I wouldn't think that taking yours out and then reseating it would cost less than the £50 replacement. Mine use to leak and it was due to the adhesive not being applied properly. From what you are describing I assume your C has the rubber seal (not the glued type).
  7. My C has had 2 gauges bugger up, and they used to go all over the place, once the fuel needle went all the way round and sat on the temp needle! My C does seem to suffer from extremely active fuel needles, and in my case that also applies to the temp needle as well. :)

    Windscreen Seal

AFAIK all C's have the adhesive seals (not the old rubber ones), the windscreen is literally glued on and its a bitch to get it off. It increases the strength of the car. It would be a lot cheaper to smash your screen and claim for a new one through your insurance, £50 (fully comp.) :) Maybe I should add that "accidently" smashing the screen is the right thing to do
  9. DANG60: Fair enuff mate, and don't take my posts too seriously as I'm joking most of the time, and for some reason I type with a more tempestuous manner compared to when I converse verbally.
  10. Yes Dr it was, and I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions about possible non OEM parts being the problem, the actual problem didn't even enter my mind as a possibility, which is why I should have given Vince the chance to check it over before I went shouting my mouth off! Anyway I think we have reiterated which actions should be taken and Kev's post above concludes the matter perfectly.
  11. Cheap? Thats a bloody steal mate, 95p a litre at my local and a 15 gallon tank tells you that you don't get much change from £70 I did once do about 450 miles to one tank whilst driving to and around the Lake District. Cruising around the 80mph mark I can get upto 40mpg. Put my foot down though and bye-bye
  12. I won't go into the unfortunate oversight which had occurred apart from saying that it led to minor damage to the gearbox casing, this needed a temporary "patch" to get to Stealth upon which Vince has agreed to remove, strip down and rebuild the gearbox, and check for any further possible problems. Again, of course this should have never happened in the first place but this level of customer service is outstanding, and does everything to restore my faith and trust in Stealth thus allowing me to return to them in the future. I will always forgive the odd mistake here and there as long as the party in question accepts responsibilty and corrects the fault with no fuss. You have to allow people the chance of redemption before you go in all guns blazing, which I have been guilty of many times in the past.
  13. £33 for 12 gallons???? How much is Optimax where you live, 'cos that works out at about 60p a litre! Tell me now, I'm on me way with a tanker
  14. Yes Kev I agree with a lot of what you are saying and the one I drove was standard so I can't comment on a modded version, although the build quality factor which is basically a comfort thing is what I think makes cars feel so sterile, why can't we still have the feel of the road through the wheel? This is what makes the C so enjoyable to drive, and if that is due to a lesser build quality then I'm all for it!
  15. Yeah while I was watching the lap I commented to my wife that I didn't think it looked like a great lap time (wife just nodded, not giving a toss!) and I proved myself right, considering the spec/performance of the M5 the time was poor I thought. On the flip-side the Astra amazed me, even though the chassis obviously was not built for that amount of power!
  16. Yeah a neighbour has the RS6 (along with a mint Quattro, git) and yes apart from the obvious fact that the Audi looks nice, as the BMW looks bloody awful IMO, I would probably opt for it too. But I will say in the short time he has had the RS6 it has been in and out of the dealers many times due to problems!
  17. I've just noticed your excessive post figure Kev, are you addicted to the forums by any chance?!
  18. Yes, I've always wanted to see how a standard VR would stand-up against the rest of the bunch on the board. Maybe if someone is willing to "lend" their C to Top Gear then Jeremy may well let it happen!
  19. Although saying that I could watch The Stig drive various cars around the track even for maybe a whole show, but yeah 3 series of it would definately start to grind my mind
  20. Well I suppose in it's broadest possible term he was presenting the "fastest lap around the Top Gear track" part of the show!
  21. Performance: Good. Handling: Good. Reliability: Good. Drive: Boring.
  22. It's nice to see someone actually putting a C together amongst so many others who seem to be breaking them down! Nice one, I hope you enjoy it. :)
  23. IMO the Golf 4-Motion is one of the most boring cars I have ever driven, obviously mods should improve this, as they would on many other cars.
  24. Oh, I didn't realise all C's had hydraulic clutches, I assumed older ones would be mechanical. And you know what they say about assumptions... Silly me. :)
  25. I thought the original Stig could have been the '80s rally championship Stig Blomqvist, even though he is around 60 years old he is still an amazing driver and regularly competes. There was definately a "rally" style to the original Stig whereas the new one seems to drive a lot tighter, more like a touring car driver. /www.perrymccarthy.com/ But yeah this says it all
