How did you manage the hole? While off the car I assume? It'll take 5 minutes to wack it on the car, try a cold start, if it idles and drives OK, then bob's your uncle.
-
If the wire/plate is OK then maybe not.
-
I prefer predictable to "where the feck is this RS going" at every corner!! I think you will enjoy the Corrado when you've grown up mate.
-
 So the house idea went out the window then??!!

It's only that some alarm systems are fitted very badly (mine was!) and can affect many, many things. Mine had a full monty Clifford fitted by the previous owner, and yes it has taken the car over completely, it does what it likes, when it likes! Behind my dash it looks like a fecking network install, wires and boxes everywhere. Trouble is it would cost more to have it removed than have a new one fitted
-
Have you had a new alarm fitted recently?

Under the parcel shelf?

I'd take the Scirocco anyday.

RTA's are not nice to see, not nice at all. :(
-
Yeah, seems way too cheap to me, it all depends on the finish you want though. Although NO, maybe there is such a thing as a BARGAIN! I assume the bloke is doing it "on the side" so lets hope you've had a result. Hope it works out.

Exactly mate! It reminds of the waterboard, my local area was told of a possible hosepipe ban, and then advert's on the box saying "check for leaking taps, don't flush your toilet so offen" etc. All the while Thames Water alone are leaking enough water from their sh*t pipes to fill over 360 olympic-sized swimming pools EVERY DAY!! What is totally mad is that London use less than this each day anyway, and there's them cheeky bas*ards telling US to save water!! Yeah I just shoehorned that one in, but I'm on a bit of a Victor Meldrew rant lately!! :)

Yes mate I know, which is why at the end of each tax year you will find roadworks popping up everywhere for no reason, the gits are trying to spend the excess cash on any old job, just so the government will continue giving them the same amount! My mum used to work for a local council and you wouldn't believe how much money they p*ss away on BS work, and to think my council tax has gone up again!
-
 Yes very good! That is true though, the locals are normally the ones that ask for these bloody things, but like I say they just don't work. The main reason they ask for them is to slow the nutters down, but it only seems to encourage speed. Yes I slow down 'cos I dont want my shocks making an appearance through my bonnet, but I don't drive mad in residential areas anyway! The only real way of slowing down the pr*cks is to ban them from driving. Cameras, speed bumps, they don't do what they are intended to do.
-
It will happen, one day..... The council has finally covered the entire local area with speed bumps, width restrictions and priority lanes. It has now got to the point that I cant drive for more than 100 yards without encountering some restriction. The other day I was approaching a speed bump/width restriction/priority combo at the end of my road, it was my priority but the oncoming car thought sod it and kept coming, I had to quickly pull in to let the git through. As I tried to come out and line up for the 6ft gap I clipped a corner of kerbstone, and due to my bloody Goodyears having paper walls, down goes the tyre! Now this particular combo has kerbs parallel with the hump, but they don't slope down into the road, so you have concrete corners on show. Surely this isn't right? I was going to phone the council and get them to sort it out, but I don't think they'd bother. A main road not far from me had bumps put down on the entire 1 mile stretch. The local residents complained, saying that lorries were making too much noise driving over them, and their Ferrari's didn't like them, so they took them all up. Tax payers money down the drain. I know safety is the ultimate goal but is it just getting ridiculous? If they are meant to kill speed then bollox, kids that drive mad around residential areas still do if the bumps are present, to them it's fun trying to jump them, and they're not bothered about fecking the suspension on their Nova's! And most family cars nowadays can drive over them without noticing a thing. Emergency services must be suffering, it take's them longer to get to you and if its an ambulance longer to return to the hospital, that's assuming your still alive after the motocross trek. Would we the public be wasting our time if we put in a petition to the MoT, maybe even getting Clarkson in on the act! Might be worth a go 'cos one day there will be speed bumps on the M25.

I knew someone who had a G60 and went out and bought a used Audi TT Turbo, I was at his house buying a part from him and he asked if I would take him out in the C. He was gutted that his new purchase sounded poor compared to my VR, and also gutted that my 10 year old C was quicker! I can't think of any car that sounds as powerful as the VR, esp. with a K&N filter and Schrick wacked on. It never sounds like it's struggling. So yeah I think this positive (however shallow) is the mother of all positives. :)

Just a quicky, I had to put the fan belt back on my car today (luckily it come off and laid in the frame). Yesterday I was getting ridiculous temps and the air-con felt weak. It's a fiddly job on my car what with the Schrick in the way, but it's done. I think the metal frame the fans are fixed to is slightly warped, which is why the belt probably comes off now and again. So if anyone experiences high temps and the fans seem to go on for longer than usual, this is worth checking first. Obviously you will only have the motorised fan working on it's own, and that is not good! Oh yeah I also had a air lock in the coolant supply, so that didn't help matters :)
-
The VXR is stupid, it's as stupid as putting a bloody quick engine in an Astra.....oh
-
 Cheeky git! I'm sorry mate, I've been feeling pretty low over the last month and things are really getting at me lately. I'm even taking it out on my wife and kids just 'cos my fan belt has come off again! So if anyone has found me curt, rude or offensive over the last few weeks then I apololize. Once I get sorted and get out of this bloody house I'll be back outside polishing the C :) You always thought you had it hard when you were a kid. Kids are lucky naive fools.

No, the Audi will be worth less than the Golf by more than a grand in 3 years.
-
 Very good! Believe me Kev, I'm not running Stealth down, like I said I think they're number 1. If that's how I'm coming across it wasn't intended. I just get p*ssed off when I have to take time off work, pay out for fuel to get there and back in 2 cars, just to get silly problems sorted. Anyway TBH I'm getting bored with the whole thing
-
Basically Greenstuff are OK but are not worth the extra pennies. Go to Halfords and buy some Ferodo pads, same results achieved, less money.
-
Please don't get me wrong, I regard Stealth as the best in the business, but should I be checking over any work undertaken? If things are to be checked after a particular time/mileage then I should be informed. Unfortunately I have found it impractical to keep using Stealth for my C's needs. Stealth are good, very good, but I have started to consider it a gamble rather than a purchase to deal with any mechanic, and I'm no gambler.
-
I only assume this because it says so on the oil cap, in the Bentley manual and various local mechanics have also stated this. I have said "CAN" damage the CAT, which it can. This doesn't detract from the fact that this is a pathetic oversight (along with others) and seems to happen continuously. Maybe the "oil filler" should be sacked. I have called it a day with all mechanics, I was satisfied with the way Stealth handled my problems, but I won't be returning. Having to check over work which cost thousands of pounds is ridiculous and a joke. Yes Kev I know how much you like Vince (I like him too), but this is a forum for Corrado owners, everyone should be allowed to tell their tale. Keeping it strictly between customer and mechanic is not right, I don't want to see slating on this forum but I also don't want to see freedom of speech removed. If Stealth (or others) rectify any problems then again let people inform us on the forum. Trying to protect Stealth with this "untouchable" shield is wrong. Like the Dr said if this was a VW dealer in question we would all be going mad. We should be helping each other not helping a company with its profit margins, no matter how nice the guy who runs it is.

Yeah, just noticed that, any point to the removal?

Looks brand new mate, you must be pleased. I do like the C in a dark colour, looks mean!
