When I get a VR6 - If I had 1k to mod - where to start
24V Renshaw replied to simonr's topic in General Car Chat
Yep if you can find enough people its definately the way to do it. Jay -
Don't go for 45 tyres they will a. look to big and b. start giving clearance issues. I run 32 psi in the fronts and 28 in the rear. it makes a massive difference to the ride if they are 1 or 2 psi higher. I have very stretched 205/40/17 tyres and the ride is very controlled and not crashy at at all. The answer unfortunately will probably be to invest in some more expensive coilovers. Having owned various types over the years generally you get what you pay for. Jay

Looks gorgeous mate. Those wheels are so right on a C. What tyre pressures are you running? Having only a 25mm drop you shouldn't have a harsh ride? What settings are you dampers on? Jay

I'm 26 and pay £560 Fully comp with all the mods declared and detailed and there are a few :) Jay

well the complete Powerflex front end poly bush kit you are looking at about £120 from somewhere like http://www.europerformance.co.uk That would be wishbone bushes, front cross member bushes, steering rack bush, arb bushes. Their FK Konisport coilovers are £572.84 (inc VAT) O.E balljoints bearings and ARB droplinks would be about £200 all in at a guess.. I did exactly the above to mine and I am absolutely amazed with how well the car rides now. I had coilovers before but until I did the full rebuild they were no-one near their potential. Jay -

Assuming there are no major problems with the car my order of preference would be, assuming they have not already been done... New Poly Bushes throughout (the front) New OE rear beam bushes. New balljoints, track rods, bearings etc... Then decent coilovers. That would total about £1K but will make a huge difference to the handling of the car. Then you can start playing at a later date, knowing you have a proper solid basis. Jay -
What about Corvette rims.... :)

I don't have a pic of that on this PC, but I love that car. I am still tempted to put 18" RSTT Wheels on. :) Jay

Cheers VDubber. I must admit I wasn't expecting it to change quite as much as it did after the first feature :) Jay -
is it worth having the vr6 flywheel balanced ?????
24V Renshaw replied to jekvr6's topic in Engine Bay
Mine has a slightly lightened flywheel and it seems to rev up very nicely. Absolutely no down sides to it at all. I was a little worried about doing it, but its superb. The only time you get running problems is with a very light one. Jay -

Exactly shaggsy. The dash was all black. You can get proper plastic interior spray from Bradleys Paints, complete with plastic prep etc.. Its not your halfords sh1te it actually sticks perfectly and is what manufacturers use to paint plastic interior trim. Jay -
How do you know it was kids, probably quite likely to have been some inconsiderate tw*t with a load of DIY stuff. Either way I feel for you mate. Jay

bordeaux VR6 in Didsbury this afternoon. short plate. Looked very clean. -
Its very much a work in progress and the fact he has done all the work himself including actually building the dash from scratch including the moulds puts it in a different light. He is part of our crew http://www.Coupehaus.co.uk and the build details will be up on the site soon including mine and Bens. Jay

How is that coming along mate? Jay

I am actually considering making a tailgate with the spoiler made from metal and actually welded and smoothed in. I think they look ar5e when they are up, very messy. Jay

I didn't count Bens, Pauls and Sukhs as they are next years cars..... Jay
-
Still looks awesome, but the silver ones are better. IMHO. I know how much of a wheel whore you are though :) Jay
