  2. Cheers mate, sounds like it's worth a look. Any idea where to get one from? Ta.
  3. Cheers Ant, will give it a go Monday :D
  4. PS- thanks to Andi for the pic :D
  5. Hi, This part is the cause of my running probs! VW thought they'd ordered me a new one, but got the wrong thing. We then spent over an hour trying to find it on their computer but to no avail :( It's the black plastic disc shaped thing in the midle of the pic, with a hose coming off each side with metal clips. One of thse hoses has completely sheared off. Be really gratful if someone could identify it and find the part number for me. Cheers!
  6. Nice one! :D Looks great in your avatar 8)
  7. VR Zen, went to VW last night and apparently it's the solenoid valve for the carbon canister......£78!!!! :? Ordered one, so I'll fit it on Friday. Hopefully that will be all the problems sorted! Cheers for your help guys! :D
  8. Cheers Joe for the description, and Andi for the cracking picture! :D The bit that's broken is the pipe next to the HT lead with the metal clip. It's split off where it meets the disc shaped valve thingy. Anyone got a part number? Thanks!
  9. Joe, it comes out from the left side of the engine. Where is the carbon canister? Thought it was at the back to the right of the throttle body. As you can see, I'm still a complete novice with the VR! Cheers
  10. Think I've found the problem! There is a tube on the left hand side towards the back of the engine near the air filter. It's right next to the longest spark plug lead. It has a small disc shape (about 8cm across) halfway along, then becomes corrigated and curves down where it joins the main air pipe near the throttle body. It's completely split off in front of the disc part. Can anyone tell me what it is/give me a part number? Cheers
  11. Well, got the lamda sensor done, and there is a good improvement. However, it's still revving on it's own for a few seconds when I stop, and is still slightly jerky when I decelerate. Checked all the hoses for splits etc, but they are all pukka. Think I'll have the ISV out for a clean when I get time. Any ideas?
  12. Roddy, how did it compare to the C for speed and handling? Think I'd go for the Quattro or maybe the E-Type.

    Air Filter

Put a K & N in and drilled the wingside and front of the box and also removed the snorkel. Sounded good and definately improved throttle response  Worth doing- takes an hour or two.
  14. Cheers VR Zen, I'll mention it to the garage on Monday. Thanks :)
  15. Checked all hoses and coil and everything's in good nick. It's booked in Monday for lamda sensor, so hopefully that will nail it. I'll let y'all know.
  16. Well done mate, in there at last! :D 8) Looks great.
  17. Thanks Jim, where is the coilpack? Think the ISV is worth checking too- where is it? Think they're the bits at the back right of the engine behind the leads, but want to be sure! :? Is the ISV below the coilpack? Thanks!
  18. Once a week, wax every 2-3 :D 8)
  19. Mine is a later VR, so doesn't have a distributor- cheers anyway!
  20. M3, Scooby P1, S3, Supra. Can't see me ever having the cash for any of those though!
  21. Worst thing is when it starts raining when your half way through waxing
  22. Similar prob to Rob in the other thread, but a few differences, so started a new one :) The car is really lumpy to on start up. Fires up immediately, but needs revving, otherwise feels like it's going to stall. When driving, if you decelerate it's often very jerky. When you floor it there is no response for a few secs. It's much better if you accelerate slowly. Finally, when you come to a standstill, it revs away on it's own a few times, then eventually settles down to normal idle. Had it checked out was told it needed new leads and a lamda sensor. Changed the leads and it's no better, and have it booked in next week at a VW specialist for the sensor. Any ideas? It's had a recent service and the fuel filter was changed. Could it be the sensor? Any help would be much appreciated as it's driving me mad!  Thanks!
  23. Aaight, now that would be worth investing in! Migs, believe me I felt like it! He was a complete tosser!
