  1. Less than that. There's prob only around 2500 left in the UK at the mo. There's loads being broken all the time. All the duffers will be weeded out, with just good cars left, prob within 5 years I'd say!
  2. Aye, had that engine in my EG6. Most powerful NA production engine ever at the time- probably still is!
  3. You sure do- may pop over on Tuesday to see how it's going ;) Hope mine turns out as good as yours!
  4. Almost F1-like :) All my VTIs sounded pretty good TBH, but only with either the AEM intake or BMC. The change to VTEC was VERY pronounced after fitting these kits. I took my Dad out in my MB6 VTI-S, and when the VTEC kicked in, he couldn't believe the noise!
  5. Yeh, I'm not convinced it'll be ready on Wednesday. He told me to give him a call Weds afternoon...
  6. Nice work all round, Kevin 8) Spark plug test is simple, yet genius! Slightly disappointed that you didn't manage to get the sparks to change colour though... :)
  7. Jim, aye, 'tis a good price indeed. What are you planning on getting done? It was CCGB National Day that highlighted the problem for me- some of the other cars there (Chris' etc) had such amazing paint, and my poor paint was really shown up on such a lovely, sunny day! :( Krishen, yep, paint isn't cheap :( Worth paying for a decent job though, rather than a couple of hundred that will only last a couple of years.
  8. £500 + £35 for dents. Cash. Two other quotes came in at £850-1000 (not cash).
  9. Tell me about it! Have seen some of the other work they've done, and it's very good. Just hope this will be the same!
  10. Thanks chaps! 8) Finally saved up enough to have some paint done. Dropped it off this afternoon, and will hopefully be ready by the end of Wednesday. Having the following done: Front bonnet Front wings Front grille Slam panel lip Front bumper Rear number plate plinth Rear spoiler Rear number plate light cover Whole car machine polished + hopefully all the dings removed, although the dent guy may not be available :( Can't wait! The bonnet is really stone chipped, and the rest of the car is VERY swirly with some holograms too. There are around 4-5 car park dings on the driver's side and a tiny one in the rear panel near the Corrado script badge, so I hope the dent guy is available.
  11. Fanboys: 70/100 Thor: 72/100 Sucker Punch: 58/100 -better than I thought it would be after reading sooooo many terrible reviews. Still not great though!
  12. I agree about the ignition switch- bit of a myth that's it's really difficult! All those instructions where you have to take the seat out, lie on your back and then spend an hour trying to get that tiny screw out are tosh! I've changed at least 5 now, all in under 30 mins, no seat removal, from the top. You can tap the little screw around anticlockwise from the side with a flat screwdriver/hammer to undo it ;) Also agree with Tony that you're getting side-tracked :(
  13. IMHO I would get the latest, best condition VR6 with leather you can find. The later interior is much nicer IMHO + the V6 is a cracking engine.
  14. I would be extremely surprised if a VT mount had failed so quickly. If it has, you should get a refund! I would go with what lewvw suggested above- fitting just on uprated mount will almost certainly put stress on the others, especially if they are the originals or some crappy GSF pattern part.
  15. In your position, I'd take it off the road. Have you tried Admiral for a quote? MILES cheaper for the VR6 and our vRS. Both modified, and combined came to less than £500 fully comp with protected no claims etc.
  16. Pretty much all the UK reviews were VERY favourable. Group tests had the VR out-doing the BMW 3-series coupe, Probe, Prelude, 200SX, Celica etc. There's a good episode of Top Gear where Clarkson reviews it in comparison to the Probe, Prelude and Celica. The VR wins 8)
  17. Get the sensor from Ford- same as 1995 Galaxy V6. Will be at least a fiver cheaper ;)
  18. Re: bushes, yep should be available. Not cheap, but should be cheaper than Powerflex. They'll last at least 10 years.
  19. Very nice VR mate! You've already made good progress. I would go for standard rear beam bushes- poly ones make the ride a little harsh/skittish imho + you'll lose the passive rear wheel steer.
  20. Think the distribution of these was rather random. Have had a 1996 N reg VR6 & my current 1995 Storm, both have the earlier ones. All the other late cars I've had have had the later scripted ones though. Think it was just a case of what they had left on the shelf.
  21. Sorry to hear this- absolutely gutting :( If you want to start a breaking thread, please make a small donation to the forum, then post a thread in the Breaking Forum :)
  22. Just buy the K&N cleaning kit and follow the instructions. Make sure it's evenly covered with the oil, then use kitchen paper to blot off the excess.
  23. Strange! Glad it's sorted though!

    Grille

Should do, but would look terrible IMHO!
  25. The MFA display is probably a bulb. Check out the link above for early clocks. Later are different. There are 6 bulbs IIRC, 3 at the top, 3 at the bottom. You have to take the clocks out to change. They just twist 90 degrees and lift out. Replacements from VW- they're around £4-5 ea! Try the search for heater controls- you'll have to take them apart. Been covered loads. Do you mean the handbrake handle, or the plastic part that fits behind the handle? If it's the plastic, sounds like its cracked. You can still get the plastic in black and handles are also available.
