  1. Maybe another cam sensor... or check the cam sensor wiring. As above though, I'd get it on VAGCOM ASAP. Are the fans coming on OK? The coolant issue could be just the sensor in the stat housing. 10 mins to swap out and you can buy it from Ford. Otherwise, maybe the stat isn't opening properly.
  2. Moved to suppliers :) Thanks, Phil. Some good stuff on there- may have to invest in some ramps at some stage!
  3. Looks nice. What's you plan of action? Just a good service/brake check etc, or does it need more help?
  4. Daves16v does a door handle repair kit.
  5. Welcome! Get some pics up... nice the chains etc have already been done.

    1.8t vs Vr6

The same can be said for VRT, supercharged VRs etc. Corrados seem to handle the power very well indeed. Have driven Dave's VRT a couple of times and it's not a scrabble machine in the slightest. It feels factory 8)

    1.8t vs Vr6

Agree with most of what's been said. Wouldn't get rid of a VR, but would deffo change one of the 4 pots for a 1.8T. I've spent around £350 on my Octy vRS to get it from 180bhp/170lbs, to around 225bhp/230lbs. They are so easy to tune. I also wouldn't say it's soulless- I like the noises- turbo whistle, the recirc 'dump', the wub-wub when the BMC was fitted, Jetex downpipe/sports cat, Blue Flame catback- all these combine to make it a fast and fun car to drive, with a little character. Also fitted a Forge 007p + N75J. Definitely need the tweeks though ;) Midrange, it absolutely murders the VR6. The VR6 nearly makes up for it at the top end. The smoothness of the VR is unquestionable, although the vRS is pretty smooth.
  8. Welcome! Looks nice- got a moonroof too 8) You can get most of the VR6 engine parts including the PCV, from Ford. Nearly always cheaper than VW. Same parts as 1995 Galaxy V6 ;)
  9. Toby, do you have the little foam parcel shelf buffers that are glued to the plastic trim inside the tailgate?
  10. ...because it originally said 39k with no mention of the clocks being swapped. It's since been edited. Try reading the other posts in the thread before replying, Monkey Boy!
  11. Numpty! Glad it's sorted, Pauline :)
  12. Got a few things on the bay at the mo: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/a_carrick4yhg/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562
  13. Can't remember what the early wheel is like. There should be some sponge or springs though, I'm pretty sure. Did you fit the metal plate back in the right way around? Have you tried covering the contacts? This will tell you if that's the prob or not ;)
  14. To be honest, just go for the best you can afford. A VR is only marginally less economical than a 16v. Don't discount the 8v either. Drive as many as you can and get one that's been looked after with good bodywork. Check sills, around fuel filler cap/neck, rear arches etc.

  19. Sad news, Thomas! :( I guess it's been on the cards for a while though. Glad you're not breaking it- very good price for all the kit included!
  20. Welcome! Blue or green? Jetex is a good choice. Magnex are also highly regarded. Quite a few members in your neck of the woods- try dropping a message to KIPVW or Butterfly :)
