  1. im going to see my friend who hires out his camper van next week & we used to attend most of the local meets until they stopped I will ask him if he knows of any that have restarted or moved & let you know if not then just a rado meet it will be lol
  2. took an alternative route last night & saw a dark coloured VR6 with what im sure were 17" speedlines last night not far from Mettis Aerospace were the 17" speedlines a group buy on here? wonder if the owner is?
  3. hmmm just seen the pic of my gear knob in my first post - it is being taken off & re-polished this weekend!! lol
  4. Thanks Tan I really did get the same excitement & fluttery tummy when I collected it last night as that I did when I first brought it & picked it up from near alton towers :) a Midlands meet is definitely needed m8 interestingly, due to traffic I took a very slight alternative route last night & saw a dark coloured rado VR with what im sure were 17" speedlines never seen it in my area before but it is only round the corner from where I live so I will be looking again
  5. excellent info thanks Jim
  6. cambridge audio are quality wharfdale are ok but to be honest they don't live up to the price I know that Mordaunt-Short speakers are superb as my parents have had some for many a year but I don't know if they do any portable stuff I guess it will come down to cost & level of portable you want you could for example have a static amp/ipod dock/Bluetooth receiver kind of setup but then have speakers in different rooms that link in to them (a bit like the sonos setup I guess) or fully portable in terms of a battery powered docking station good luck in richersounds, I know I would end up walking out of there having being seriously shorted in the pocket lol
  7. is there not potential for an issue if the flow rate of the waterless coolant differs to that of a water/G13 mix? due to the very small channels the VR has to increase heat dissipation IIRC ive read that you shouldn't use things such as wynns coolant stop leak as the viscosity of them can block the channels I mentioned above
  8. thanks to leon263 for clarifying my tires question
  9. what about that sonos thing i keep seeing advertised? ive not seen or heard one mind
  10. could someone pls help with the correct / best tire size for my '90 1.8 16v i know it used to run 195*50*15's on the original wheels but would i need a 195*45 to run on the BBS 16"'s i have on it now? thanks
  11. ha ha i posted part of the wikipedia page. which if you look in full has several options depending on if UK or just england etc the pub do allow fires but it is literally just a field, no amenities at all, so maybe not a good option im fairly sure there are some god campsites close though
  12. respray sounds interesting Wendy! are you having glass out?
  13. goran - no offence intended but i think you need to take this offline & work it out between the 2 of you. i doubt it is helping the situation with people adding 'their own thoughts' i fully understand the points you are making & i empathise that you are in this situation but forum users can not help you get it resolved
  14. if it is the belt i think you are referring to there is a screw hole into which you can put a bolt, this then releases the tensioner so as you can remove & refit the belt & then remove the bolt
  15. ha ha ha not that kind of chippy m8 lol
  16. i thought the village of Meriden was the centre of England "For centuries the parish of Meriden to the west of Coventry has claimed to be the geographical centre of England, and there has been a stone cross there commemorating the claim for at least 500 years. The justification is that the point farthest from the sea is in the parish.[citation needed] Morton, Derbyshire also claims to be the centre of England as it is not only mid-way along England's longest north-south axis,[citation needed] but also mid-way between the east coast and the Welsh border" i know of a cracking traditional ale pub not far from there which has a large field, used for camping at their annual beer festival, & they love VW's ;)
  17. discount a bose system them m8 lol my friend is a chippy & he has a something similar to this http://www.powertoolworld.co.uk/makita-dmr106-bluetooth-job-site-radio.html?gclid=CNTh4YLl9cUCFWKWtAodMw0AUw i was impressed with the sound output & quality for a fairly small unit but then he has a brick type bluetooth speaker which was pretty good too but i cant find that one sorry
  18. hello all has anyone got a decent alternator available for a 1.8 16v the one on my valver is very noisey indeed i could do with a cheap option if possible as getting the valver back on the road is going to seriously hurt my depleted bank balance thanks all for reading
  19. i agree sanky i think they need to speak to each other directly & work it out between the 2 of them the rest of us should back off & not jump to any conclusions or bad mouthing etc
  20. isnt the double time clicking when indicating a safety feature to let you know you have a bulb which has gone
  21. valver picked up last night & given a quick wash as it was filthy a rather nice journey to work had this morning in it :D masses done whilst with the mechanic but still more on the list as i need to recoup funds the alternator is rather noisey so think that might have to be done sooner rather than later & the tire size is a little out so doesnt feel right i know it used to run 195*50*15's on the original wheels but would i need a 195*45 to run on the BBS 16"'s - is anyone good with tire calculations pls? good points though - it does drive nice still, if a little heavy on the go pedal & clutch, both windows work (drivers side rather slowly), sunroof works, spoiler works & im not quite sure how but the head liner looks bloody lovely (FYI both the gf & myself have pulled the liner material out of our respective VR's due to sagging) hopefully the nice weather will kick in & be with us for a while so i can drive it a bit & then think about ripping the dash out to do the matrix
  22. it is when the suspension uses air & compressors so that you can set the height from a control unit the american's love air setups, im sure you have seen an impala or similar with one wheel in the air or bouncing etc often in the UK people use it so as when they get to a show etc they can slam it completely. ive seen 'bagged' camper vans where you cant get a single rizla between the front bumper & the tarmac lol
  23. do you know if the 58mm is the internal or external diameter pls Ian? thanks edit: i think it is 55mm internal & 58mm external from what i can find online
