is that stonor at the end of may chuggs?
-
thanks mic :D i appreciate hearing others thoughts & i am very glad i went with the decision to have a longlife system gopro is a good idea - im pretty sure a couple of my m8's have them so will try to borrow one i would like to do a recording as it drives past as well, as ive never heard it that way lol you're right about the BMC & i love the way the sounds now move from exhaust to BMC as the revs rise - unfortunately the cabin video's audio doesnt capture that plus, bearing in mind i had been speaking to various companies which were quoting around £1000 for a full system with sport cat i feel the £400 it cost me was an absolute steal! PS can i have your brakes when your done with them? ;) lol

thanks chuggs, appreciated im not sure how different the work would be at another branch of longlife. Paul at the one in birmingham took his time to ensure he, and i, were very happy with it

hello m8 your plans sound sensible & there is lots of info on here about all the points you raise, including a timing chain guide on the wiki i had work completed in a similar vein & found that i ended up highlighting weak links during the process. below is a copy of the entry from my build thread relating to the engine work Long story short i put her into stealth back in Oct last year, approx 150K on the clock, for a head rebuild & some functional & some shiny upgrades & there ensued several months of gremlins causing many a trip to stealth & back from west midlands Upon reflection i have concluded that some of the issues were a combination of old worn parts, new parts failing when installed, a mass of work done but not quite a full rebuild (resulting in chasing a problem round until all factors in the equation were found & fixed) & an unfortunate lack of attention to detail & presentation in work. I have to thank Vince for being the customer focused person he is & congratulate him on managing to keep my faith in stealth & himself during the very difficult period of tackling said gremlins. There was a mixture of bad workmanship & bad luck, with several brand new parts failing, but Vince made sure he tackled all of the issues & in the end produced a superb result & a happy customer. I also have to thank him for all of his efforts to keep my costs down during difficult period. Those several months resulted in the following being done: Head rebuild inc new gaskets, valve seals, re-seated valves etc etc(this was done twice as vince re-done all work to make sure all issues were fixed) Full set of chains & tensioner's Schimmel 263 cams BMC CDA Custom stealth ECU remap - graphs to follow Roose motorosport hoses & clips, full set Thermostat & housing Primary & auxilary (electric) water pumps All 3 cooling temp sensors Oil temp sensor golf V5 starter motor Vibratechnics front engine mount OEM rear gearbox mount Valeo clutch with revised release bearing (as the original shed its grease & the 2nd one chirped like crazy) & new clutch arm assembly etc Sump oil pump Sump & gasket Core plug Battery Valeo heater matrix Full set of golf VR engine rebuild polished stainless bolts & washers from liquid metal refinement Vince also took my inlet manifold to the body shop he knew & had the couple of deep scratches they had accidentally made flatted & polished out build thread link http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=44751&highlight=g0ldf1ng3r hope that helps

hello there - have a good look around :)

what rickdonald says about the thermostat is true - VW reengineered the newer ones to give a dash reading of around 90 degs apparently this was their reaction to receiving lots of calls from drivers worrying about their water temp if your water temp reading is doing as you describe, IE sits around 70 degs, then you are likely to have an old style thermostat i had the exact same as you describe prior to the stealth work which included a new thermostat. after the work was done one of the first things i noticed was that my water temps were reporting differently, post work the gauge now sat around 90 degs & would creep up in traffic i did also notice that my engine fans seemed to kick in more in line with how they should & often do the over run cooling after most journeys, something i had not noticed prior to the new stat. in essence i wouldnt worry about it :)

hi m8 if your upgraded loom has 3 relays in it then it could be one made by KUR2Y who used to be on here. i say that as many of the uprated looms on offer only have 2 relays. KUR2Y used to use 3 so that if one of the relays failed it would not result in a total loss of lights, which i believe happens in a 2 relay version if one fails a few months ago i had an issue where my dipped beam would not work but main beam would, i changed all 3 relays (as i wasnt entirely sure which relay facilitated which light path, ie dipped or main beam) & the issue was fixed i got the relays from bromsgrove motor factor for a few £'s each. i drove there in the day & took one of the relays in for them to match. i can try & find the part number if you would like i would not recommend removing the uprated loom, unless it is faulty itself, as they really make a difference to the light out put

hi steve it may sound odd but give ford a try. the galaxy v6 uses the same part, i put one on my VR a long time ago also, ford will sell you, or used to, the individual parts in the chain - rather than when VW stocked it you had to buy half you air feed there may be a part number in my members gallery but i cant recall if i put it on there
