  1. ive been having a horrible time lately with water ending up in both my front & rear passenger footwells but i think i finally cracked it last weekend as ive had dry carpets since however it has taken over a week to dry the underlay stuff which is on the bottom of the hard backed liner underneath the carpet - thus id advise to definitely take the front passenger under trays out & pull the carpet up. i found though i could get the carpet itself fairly dry when i investigated further the underlay stuff is like a sponge & there must have been litres i there when the car was parked on the flat i would find the rear passenger footwell was wet - somehow the water manages to track down the centre tunnel (feel under your seat rails) & pool up in the rear footwell. it would also sometimes pool up in the front passenger footwell when on the flat but not all the time. in my case stealth had replaced the foliage seal when they did the rest of the work & did a nice overkill on the seal for it. unfortunately after several tests to try to find the ingress (pouring water on the side of the windscreen, over the sunroof, onto the scuttle tray, down the door seals, removed the b pillar trim & even directly around the bottom of the foliage cover) i just couldnt figure it out when i went back after a de-stressing cuppa i checked the gf's storm for a comparison - low & behold i could see that on hers the thin plastic housing cover, which sits on the bottom of the windscreen & the top of the bulkhead but over the foliage cover, had a side closet to the passenger wing which was over the foliage cover returning to mine to compare i could now see that the side of the thin plastic housing was actually tucked up and over the top of the foliage fcover - thus as rain was running off the windscreen it was hitting the mangled housing side & going straight into the top of the foliage cover i managed to wriggle the side of the thin plastic housing free & then pull it into the correct position over the foliage cover (it kind of sits over it like a box with cut outs) there has been lots of rain this week & its been dry (i hope ive not jinxed myself now lol) with the aid of a small dehumidifier ive been able to dry the underlay in the sloped section of the footwell but i had to bin the underlay from the hard card which is under the front passenger carpet however - i think i will have to get the seat out & check the underlay in the rear footwell too in essence, sorry for rambling, i can confirm that water getting in around the foliage cover can produce wet carpets in rear passenger footwell too & it is worth checking everything very closely edit: i should have also mentioned i kicked myself all afternoon for not noticing the mangled thin housing on the previous occasions i had taken a quick look lol

  10. id say if your already 2.5k in then its too far to turn back. sounds like you dont mind spending to get the VR back to how you want it & im sure you know the rewards i am in a similar position with my valver. it was my 1st rado & i had always said i never should have sold it, well, i probably shouldnt have brought it back last year lol it is currently in a boxing match with my mechanic, usual struggles to get the damn thing apart after so many years, & though it needs mainly new boots etc with the addition of a new steering rack & labour i must say im not looking forward to the bill however i know that every time i even just see it i get that funny nice feeling of 'mmmm ive got my old rado back' & i can honestly say that even though i have my VR as a daily i really cant wait to drive the valver again i guess in synopsis im saying no one can decide but yourself if it is worth it but i hope you sway in the keep direction :)
  11. i bet there was bags of enthusiasm though chris ;)

  14. hello there & welcome a US rado in netherlands, thats a first ive heard of :) good luck getting it back to how you want it.
  15. m8 the only RSI you will be getting is from all the typing on this forum!!! PMSL
  16. no they dont have enough pressure really wayne - if the garage is having the car again ask them to give the roof drains a blow out. it is a 30 second job once sunroof is open so they shouldnt charge you BUT you can check if you even need to blow them out first by testing with water as i described ;) PS an airline uses an air compressor which tend to be bulky & costly
  17. no need to remove anything wayne open sunroof on slide fully fill a bottle up with water, 500ml with a nozzle helps in each of the four corners, one at a time m8, pour a little water into the channel & then check if it comes out under the car from the respective corner IE if you pour water into the front left drain it should end up coming out from under the front left wing if you dont see any water making it to the ground the channel may be blocked - a good squirt with an airline should budge the blockage IF you find a blocked one it might be worth checking if water is getting into the cabin or overflowing the channel on the sunroof cartridge i believe it is worth giving each drain hole a good blow out with an air line just anyway as a just in case ;)
  18. nice find wayne printed & stored with my other how to's lol
  19. it will be grit or dirt between the gold clip you can see making contact with the gold ring take the steering wheel off & clean both & then put a little grease on both of said contacts & refit i very much doubt it is your column m8
  20. yes m8 undo bottom caliper bolt, swing caliper up, take out pads, copper grease on the back faces & refit should be job done
