Dont quit that easy dude.

It's lika a tap but not for cutting new threads, just for cleaning out the existing ones. If you had a plug in there, there must be some threads. Whether they can be reclaimed is the issue. I don't know if you'll find someone to helicoil the plug hole with the head on. Plus of course you have to get the car to them. Halfords would have a chaser I am sure. Gavin

I get what you mean now, there was a bit of Lag between putting your foot dwon and the car going for it. When it takes off, have the revs climbed to about 4000? I wonder if the vacuum pipe to the ECU is damaged? Or if there is one, I cannot remember on a 9A 100%. Gavin
-
Threadchaser to clean it out. Small hoover to get the swarf. If you are doing it the right way. Me, I'd just clean up the thread and run the car afterwards. Gavin

Don't you bet on it! Mine lasted 'nearly' 2 years. Take the exhaust off the charger and see what if anything is going on it there. You don't want lots of oil floating around in there. With the tolerances in the charger if it has no where to go something will give up. Gavin

Though it sounds like your dad is confident he WASN'T driving at the time. Where was he at 10:55 on the day in question? Any witnesess? Right on Sherlock

If you just had a service and the car isn't running right, get it back there to find out what they changed. Can you qualify what you mean about the G60? A G60 doesn't just cut in, they are always producing boost except on part throttle most of it is recirculated back through the charger. I very much doubt it is injectors. Gavin

No I don't think so. The pinking is probably worse due to the hot weather. I think you may need to back off the timing until the cold weather comes back. Or get yourself a VSAM or Kstar fitted. Gavin

Mytyres have NCT5s for 55 quid delivered. Obviously 4 would be 210. I bet if you have a ring around someone will find you another 2 to match yours for less than that. Gavin

ive got another fuel leak! not in the engine bay though :?
h100vw replied to Riley's topic in Engine Bay
Not common mate. Have you done any work on the fuel pipes under the bonnet. Might be worth extracting the pipes one at a time to see if any have worn through. Attach something to them to get them back into the chassis. Gavin -
No picture mate. I'd have a look at someone like Elites website. If they are 8 point then it might be easier to replace the damged ones with some new locking bolts. Gavin EDIT 2 pages of locking wheel bolts on ebay makes sure you get the right ones. Either the straight taper or possibly the VW rounded taper.

Dead leaves and water in the scuttle. Less than fresh air getting sucked into the car. GAvin

Measure it's resistance and make sure that it chnages when you rotate the adjuster. Go across pins 1 and 3 with the meter. Gavin

HELP - Over heating issues since intercooler fitment
h100vw replied to MickeyT's topic in Engine Bay
Sounds good to me. My syncro runs oil temp of about 114 most days. Water temp is lower but I think all Passats under-read by 20degrees. Gavin -
Thats cool mate. Will be on the DF stand. I seriously recommend getting one with a 200 litre tank if you have the room for it. Got one at my parents and it is much better to use than my poxy little thing. You have to consider the volume of air that an impct gun or sander will need for contiuous use. It's a real bind waiting for the chuffing thing to fill the tank again. Costco near me have big uns(SIP) for reasonable money. I would have pushed teh boat out myself if not for the chance of going to Australia and having to get rid of it. Gavin

He turns them round in about 3 days. Take off sunday ship monday, back thursday or friday.

I would be very surprised if it has ever been apart. Which means it would be a good idea to have it done. Before.......................

If you want some Chris, just get on to Alec direct. He is busy in his day job. I only ever get his voice mail when I ring. Gavin

The std silencer box thing can leak at the joint in the middle. The ally outlet is a better compromise and more reliable. Less volume to pressurise too. Mine looks just like that and came from Pitstop/Gwerks. Gavin

Mapping not a problem... http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... highlight= Gavin

True, that is an RS outlet. I have the same fitted to my Passat. The charger does look as though it has never been serviced. All the places that do them paint or otherwise treat them to make them look nice. Gavin

wiper stalk, GSF sell them ro of course VW. Steering wheel needs to come off to fit it. You can just plug it in to see if it works though. You may be able to see the problem and fix the stalk that is presently fitted. Gavin

The price seems right to me. An ordinary Weitec kit would cost 250 and the coilovers start at 500 for fixed damping. Gavin
