With the aircon pump off, can you not run a std G60 belt to use the car?? I have air on my syncro but haven' got around to gassing it up yet. If the good weather stays I might have to though. Those pumps look pretty std across the VW range. You may be able to get one off a more modern VW if needed. Gavin

It'll retard the TIMING when it detects knock. The engine should slow down. I wouldn't point a finger at the knock sensor before doing all the other usual suspects. ECU pipe, Lambda probe, engine earths. Gavin EDIT Run with it disconnected see what happens

The discs won't fit. You can do it with G60 carriers and 16V calipers but the pads will be too thick. You can take some off the pads though. I don't think the lines are any longer. Gavin

It is a very tidy car, with no miles on it either.. :)

Check the O ring on the cap. It will hiss and stuff as it warms up and cools down which is normal. If it spits coolant there is gonna be summat up with it. Gavin

Sorting Mixtures on 1.8 16 valver and new dizzy fitting

I doubt it's rounded mate, it'll be full of muck. You can't adjust it with the engine running cos the weight of the allen key affects the plate movement and you may also bend the arm the plate is on. More often than not it stalls anyway. You can probably strip the metering head if you are confident. And clean out the bolt and try again If you have a long enough allen key, giving it a calibrate shove usually gets it in far enough to do the adjusting. Just don't go mad. Gavin -
I have heard lots of people hold doors open with them. Kev H will tell you to buy a std VW one. Plenty of other which exhust threads to go through Neil. Here for example http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... ht=exhaust Gavin

Stanley knife and cut along the length of the pipe, carefully. Jubille clips are ok for the fuel line. Gavin

Tell him to take the pipes of either side of the turbo and have shuftie inside. A boroscope might be a good idea? If it is donald though, I reckon it'll be obvious. The bearing susually go in them from what I have seen at Awesome. The turbine can't spin so you get no boost. It might have lost all the blades off the impeller or turbine. Although I am sure you would hear that floating about!!!! l It would bve worth having the ECU read with VAG-COM. Not sure if anyone near by has it? Ipswich may be the closest place, there is a thread about VAG-COM holders. IMO with modern dubs, you gotta check what the ECU says is wrong before replacing bits. Another place he might try is Vince at Scole Engineering in Diss. Dave G and I both rate him. He does some nice work and doesn't shout about it. Gavin
