  1. Oh yeah is there a fault light on?
  2. Who made the diagnosis??? They are known to BLOW. I have seen them with worn out bearings on TDIs at Awesome. Is it just no boost or what? Turbos not that pricey in the scheme of things. Maybe 3-400. fitting not that bad AFAIK. Doable on a jack and axle stands. Gavin
  3. I felt the same way when my garage got done in January. Would have loved to make 'em pay if I'd caught them. However, it would have got me a record which would have stopped me getting to Australia. And the Visa came through yesterday :multi: Sorry about your stereo seano, no alarm fitted? Gavin

And a Formula 1 budget..... :?:  I agree with the lessons comment though. Can't beat learning the art first.
  5. I was thinking if it were rich maybe a bit of petrol had made it's way into the sump causing it to read rich with the breather connected. Have you got/can you get a std ECU to swap in? .
  6. You can always come up to the Harewood show and crib off mine. Can you not rent a garage locally for a few weeks to keep everything in til your done??? Or what about g-man, can you get the Corrado down there and cut a deal on storage for the bits you don't need? Gavin

IMO. Is the 16V an 1800 or 2litre? 2 litre beter IMO, needs camming and chipping for best effect. Either are good though. KSTAR or VSAM(my favourite) on the 1800. Gavin
  8. Probe won't be affected by the de-cat. Is this in your rebuilt motor? Has it had some good runs? Wondered if there was maybe a bit of gas in the oil? Can VRs not be tweaked at all? Gavin
  9. I didn't tell you about the 10W Boeing sidelights that you 'were' going to get. Gavin
  10. Oooooo, I feel qualified to answer this one. I reckon you should be in the garage now mate. Would you change the clutch? if yes then read on.......... Seriously, using RHD bits, loom, clocks clock loom etc it should be little more than a plug-in deal. Gibber discovered that his fuel pump wasn't up to the job of running a G60 over a single point 1800. So you defo want that in there too. std wiring will run that. The only other issue I can think of will be the intercooler. In a perfect world, I'd go with a front mount. Do you have aircon? With factory air like me, you'll be having a cahrgecooler if youre loaded or a std one in the same place as the Corrado and my car. I would reckon the pipe work will be very similar if not identical. A good check of ETKA will tell you for sure. If you have access to the C then just get everything from under the bonnet and use it. Nowt worse than tripping back and forth for clips n stuff when you could have had the lot. DON'T forget the brakes. The Passat is a big mutha. I have only had mine on the road 10 mths and there is noticeable wear on the 280s I fitted. This is a 2-3 day job IMO. Admittedly, I am well practiced, removng the 2 litre can be done in 2 hours easy. Then take out the engine loom. another hour or so.. Fit the intercooler and engine loom Hanging the G60 can be done in couple of hours. Fuel pump fit. It should go straight in the tank, a bayonet fit to the bottom of the tank. I found out the hard way. A VR6 pump is the same 4BAR. Bets to use the corrado one IMO. Probably more accurate with the contents indication if its a 15 gallon tank C. A quick whizz round the block and then fit the brakes, another hour a side. Back home in time for 'tea and medals' Gavin
  11. Couls be a well gone wheel bearing or CV joint. And bleed the brakes at each corner, The water will have made it's way everywhere. Gavin
  12. Stan another job for friday, not cost you even at RAF discount rates.... I have a removal tools kit. Gavin
  13. That's the one we are talking about, just one wire to it. Gavin
  14. I have a fan that'll do you. I'll hang on sending the loom. Til you contact me... Gavin
  15. Leave it be. As the engine warms up, all the internals will expand to fill their respective gaps(?). Noise when cold isn't a problem as long as it goes away. I shouldn't worry about having clean oil come out of it. That's the point of the oil, to lubricate as well as hold in susoension contaminates until the next oil change. Unless you do really short, less than a couple of miles, there's no benefit from doing what you have done really. Gavin
  16. 037 129 717F is the number for the head to manifold gasket. Gavin

No idea in BP. I have a good place I use in Warrington. You could try them on friday?

Probably the alternator Stan. Maybe the diode/brush pack is donald. They aren't much money to try, around 10-15 quid. Gavin
  21. Good point JBOB, I was racking my tiny and little used brain to remember if the 16V had one. I used to short that wire to earth thru a heated rear window switch on my Golf, so I could flick the fan on constantly on trackdays. gavin
  22. They can run on for quite a while. You should hear my syncro running for England. Sometimes 20 mins after I pull up it's still going for it. Could be the rad switch Gavin
  23. Much of a pain as it is, removing the shock is easiest. Or maybe you can get spring compressors in? Gavin
  24. Are they adjustable damping try messing with that too. Go back to the fitters is the best idea.
