So if you leave the doors open and don't press the door interior light switch then do the windows and mirrors work?

I took the car to a bodyshop today to get an estimate for a couple of things such as tidying up some marks on the bumpers. Afterwards he spent ages looking at the car with comments about how nice it was and he'd not seen such a good one in a long time :)
-
Incredible how far this has come :)

Wow it's been a while since I updated this thread so I though I'd do so. As it has been winter the car has mostly been tucked up in the garage. I've tried to drive it every couple of weekends to keep it on its toes though. I treated it to an oil and filter change on Christmas eve and have some G12 sitting in the garage for a coolant change when the weather gets a little warmer. The only issue that's emerged is a slightly noisy serpentine belt. The chains and waterpump had only been done a few thousand miles ago and while the invoice doesn't mention the belt I would be surprised if it wasn't changed at that point. But I've read a few times that even new belts can get noisy if they are not OEM so I'll get that changed soon, just to be on the safe side. I've replaced the rear hatch gas struts recently as they were creaking. Now it opens which a nice "shhhhhhhhhh" noise again :). I did a detailed explanation of how to replace them here, including pics: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?60896-Hatch-strut-replacement I've swapped over the darkened side repeaters back to some new ambers. I did that as I think the darkened ones may be an MOT failure under the new rules. I quite like the ambers against the greay car as it adds some colour although I may also try some clear ones too and see how I feel. And I've just got these two items which I'll get into the car soonish: OEM mats from the dealer. And I've finally managed to get hold of some Audioscape pods. They have a few minor marks so I'm in two minds about whether to just fit them or to do some refurbishing on them. In all honesty I'll probably just fit them as they are good enough I think. I doubt I'll get around to it until I have some time off work in March though. I really must get around to taking some decent pics at some point. I'll make an effort to do that when the weather improves. But for now here's the only recent one I have. As you can see the little man is loving the car.

Thanks for rolex for the Audioscape pods. Smooth deal and they were packaged very well indeed.

Thanks. I'll have a think and come back to you as I'm also half tempted to build something and get it just how I want it. But I'm sure this will sound fine for me; I have the sub turned right down anyway as I'm not one for huge thumping bass.
-
Hmm half tempted as I wanted to remove the sub box that came with my car and was starting to read up on this sort of thing. Buying might be easier than starting from scratch although my current sub would then be redundant. A quick question... Can you lift the boot floor to access the spare wheel without removing the side boxes? Also, I have a 12" Alpine in there at the moment. I'm not an audio expert so how good are JL in comparison to Alpine?

I've been thinking of writing a dash can app for Android for a little while. There are several on the market already.
-
Out of interest what tax would you pay on an old car with a new engine? Is tax based on the year of the car or the engine?
-
I'm convinced that dashboard cameras are going to be the norm in 5 to 10 years from now for this very reason.
-
I so wish I had the mechanical know-how. And £2.5k spare. And a can of non-orange paint.
-
That's a pain in the arse. Let us know how it goes.
-
Typical Corrado then; either the roof was stuck open or the heater matrix had gone :D
-
What do you think? Sounds a bit dodgy to me!!!!!

Looks good. But does this mean no Corrado pics at the top? -
Looks great. I bet it felt good to drive one again.

Out of interest how do I find out which engine I have in my Golf 4Mo?
-
Yes it fixed it. Before replacing them I greased every moving part. You can see that from the pics :) But the creaking still happened. But when I replaced them the creak went away immediately. Incidentally the Veedubmachine struts have their name written on them - I only mention this in case people buy them and are fussy about having OEM logos.
