Leads are less than two years old and plugs are a year I think - worth a go though! ---------- Post added at 04:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:16 PM ---------- Nice one - I'll take a look at ECP when I've got some cash together.

It's a VR6, I have spark as it fires up but needs a lot of right foot to get it to settle down. ---------- Post added at 08:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 PM ---------- Thanks - I'll give that a go! Golf VR6 doesn't work you say? This eBay item suggests it can be VW GOLF MK3 2.8 VR6 ALL , MK4 R32 and Corrado VR6 2.9.

Right - I'll have a go tomorrow.

I am a complete numbskull mechanically but I was able to swap the MAF over in 10 mins. undo a couple of jubilee clips and remove old one, replace, re-tighten jubilee clips. Job done. My economy is in the low 30s now, but I have also had a new lambda sensor which should have helped too!

I'm up to 30 now, having replaced lambda, MAF, cleaned ISV, fixed a leaky rocker gasket. -
jamin - did you resolve this issue? I have a similar sounding problem - car left standing for a week or overnight or simply for 5 hours and it's a struggle to start. Needs a lot of gas pedal and a bit of spluttering (like when the crank position sensor is knackered) but it gets going and a bit of revving and we are all fine. Subsequent starts are fine - either immediately afterwards or leave it alone for and hour or so. I've cleaned the ISV, replaced the blue temp sender, MAF, lambda sensor (for other various reasons around using lots of fuel) and am wondering if it's the fuel pressure regulator. And if it was that would I see anything on VAG COM? as ever, advice welcome - especially from jamin and fendervg

Fitted a "new" ISV this evening. I had bought it on eBay for a bargain price. Bit of a risk but there you go. Anyway, swapped it over, quite pleased with myself as I had done my research and it was a straightforward job. But the flipping car wouldn't start or run with the new one fitted. So I gave the old one a wipe with a cloth, got a cotton bud and cleaned it a bit more, got some muck out of it, squirted in some lock lube, gave it a bit more of a wipe and refitted it. Bingo, car starting and running much better. Switched them back to make sure I hadn't done anything daft but still wouldn't work so back to the lightly cleaned and lubed original and working again. :thumbleft: Fortunately the eBay seller has agreed to refund me so nothing really lost there. Also replaced the skinny spare wheel in the boot with a speedline (I have a couple of spares) as I think my 288 brakes might not fit under my skinny spare. Am I paranoid? Now got a big lump in the boot carpet! -
I'm not bitter, it's just my cars a complete lemon...

They are total b@st@rds for this sort of thing. I also think the parts fail in series - a new water pump works better than the old one which puts more pressure on the rest of the parts so the weakness in the radiator suddenly splits etc etc. Although that is probably tosh! But hopefully like others you get to a steady state where things generally do work and you only replace one or two things a month! -
Sounds like a very positive outcome! Good to hear!

Just back from the garage and HURRAY  no more banging from the exhaust. They had to cut about an inch off to make it fit. Apparently Jetex has started making them longer. Anyway it fits properly now and it sounds good too! Also fitted a new blue temp sender and have got an ISV to fit too. -
I think it's a case of replace as much as needs replacing / you can afford while you are there. I have had some of this done and it included R32 bushes, track rod ends (as they were jiggered and no adjustment possible). Caon I spot the difference? Honestly, other than it felt tighter afterwards, I can't really say what difference the R32 bushes made because it was all quite old a tired before. There is a long thread about suspension http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?23595-The-Suspension-Discussion-Thread which is worth a read if you know what you are doing. Welcome to the forum - lots of good advice lurking both in the search function or in the heads of the "power users" on here. ---------- Post added at 04:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:24 PM ---------- BTW - I also bought a lemon but loved the VR6 vibe, so got rid and bought a better one! Have still spent loads on cash on it but mainly due to being mechanically incompetent and getting garages to do everything.

Code CRAZY25 allegedly gets 25% off ALL CAR PARTS . I recently used code PCP25 to save some dosh.

I am still running the "4 by 4" VR6 ride height. I've replaced lots of bits including the dampers (with Bilstein B4s) and while I don't want to "slam it to the deck" I think the handling and the look would be improved by a small drop but I want to retain the B4s. Would something like Eibach Pro Kit springs be a good way to go?

Tuning Werkes told me the water temp gauge was rising very slowly up to 90 degrees, the guage was lagging behind but that over 90 degrees it was fine. Is this consistent behaviour with a dying blue sensor?

I have had the occasional coasting stall (always good fun as you lose power steering and brakes) which also point towards a dodgy idle stabiliastion valve?
