Hi Rog ,ive just seen the text you sent me , im pleased you have found the problem mate . I really dont think you can put it down to the oil you put in when you changed it . We all know the car was looked after by the previous owner , think it is just down to bad luck to be honest . Rob

I recommend using the search , there's loads of info in there . I think the motor is confused at the position the sunroof is in , they need to be in sync with each other . It tells you how to do this if you type in sunroof problems or something similar Rob

I had the new calipers fitted and took the car in for an mot on saturday , but it failed on emissions . My mate who works for kwikfit took it back in today and it passed . It just needed a good run after being sorn for three months i think . I also fitted my new metal pressed plates which look great . I also grabbed an old 90s Kenwood headunit from chris langers . Nearly ready for some summer fun Rob

Did you have the work done by stealth or have you bought it from someone who had it done ? . I'm no expert but I'm of the understanding that when you have work done there , they use a computer vagcom setup to tell the ecu how to perform . I've not looked at your members thread , so apologies if I'm barking up the wrong tree . I have a super chip and pack 'A' head on my 92 Vr . During my recent starting problems I had a very young but execellent auto electrician sort it out for me . He said he had two mates with VRs and had done work to both of them , but the throttle response on mine was so much quicker than theirs . Same car but with different mods , produces different responses I suppose. Rob

Hi sean , yep me mate put some glug in the tank , said it needs a good run , it was quite high . The bloke from the mot centre said he will drive it in next saturday and it should be ok . I checked my old mot when i got home as they said you must have some mot still running and thats why they issued the tax . It ran out in november last year !. Rob

Afternoon . I put the car in for an mot this afternoon . On the way back to the centre i got dropped off at the post office . The last time i went to get tax i forgot my ins docs and she would not give me a tax disc as it was not computerised in that post office yet ,so she could not tell if i was insured ,this was last year . Went to the same office today ,as if the car had passed i wouldnt have to leave it by the main office while i got tax and knowing my luck i would get nicked for no tax while i was inside . She said we are all computerised now so i only need the V5 . I told her i was only checking to see if i could get tax without my info , she scanned the V5 and gladly gave me a tax disc . Happy i walked to the mot station , only to be told it had failed on immissions . How did i get tax when the car had failed ?. The only thing i can think of is the car was sorn while it still had an mot , but i would have thought the computer would have known the mot had expired ? .Anyone know how this has happened ? Rob
