Trying to picture what you mean , the the seat belt retainer that sits between the seats and bolted to the floor is on it's own .

Any news on this Rog ? . Might not be of any help but are you using the car a lot ? . With mine being sorn , sometimes when you fire it up it sounds awful , but does calm down and runs quiet . I didn't run the car for six months when the respray was done . When I started it it sounded like a tractor ! I drove for about a mile when it was warm and it sounded that bad I turned it off . Waited for the oil to drop and have a look at the level which was fine , started it again and it was quiet as usual . Like other people have said , sticky tappet ? Rob

I would also check the badges , where the pins are in the bodywork , they are prone to leakage sometimes .

Poor old girl , will be right as rain with a new rad . I'm not envious of that work shop one little bit !

Thats the strange thing Sean , i ordered 7mm , when they arrived i looked at the leads and i cant remember now without uncovering the car in the dark , but i thought it said 8mm on the leads ,but ive just checked the invoice and it does say 7mm . To satisfy my on curiosity i will have a look tomorrow when i get home from work . But as i said they did fit as they should in the clips .

Have a look when cranking the car in the dark . You may well see a firework display around the coil pack , is there any cracks in the coil ?

Thought i would add a little update . I will very soon have the dough to get a fresh mot and tax . Before hand i will be purchasing some mk4 rear brakes . I have a few bits to fit like a powder coated wiper arm that sits under the scuttle . A trip up the Devon dub shack this week to order some pressed plates . The car will be going in to the bodyshop shortly afterwards to have the bonnet repainted because of some suface rust on the lip above the headlight and fit the new bonnet foam, i also have some spidering of paint on the top of the rear bumper . I also have to sort the pull pins and rods on the locks as they are tight and will not sit right . Really looking forward to getting the car back on the road now , its so frustrating , with all the bad weather , just cant get anything done at all . Rob

Yep , our mk5 has a plastic cover . I'm not sure and I can't find the thread now , but didn't someone say about using a passat cover ? . If I can't get one then I will ask the mother in law to work some magic withe the sewing machine , it's only the Velcro sticker pads that keep coming off mine .

I would say the sensor is faulty , I had similar problems , in traffic in the summer the fans would kick in as they should . But they kept on running even when travelling at speed when it had obviously cooled down , the only way I could stop the fans was to turn off the ignition and fire the car up again . Rob

Had a look bud , none on there that I could find , only a passat one , which was why I asked for the no . It was grubby anyway .
