Ok matt thaks bud . Devon dub shack says raw speed engine tuning do injector cleaning .

Been using the search looking at injector problems . My first question is at 150k what are the chances of them being cleaned and then being told that they have had it ? obviously they wont know until they have cleaned them , but i could end up paying for something i cant use . Having looked at prices for new ones they aint cheap . Could i use another make ,ford etc ?. I will be doing a compression test first , then checking the flow rate of the injectors . so im just looking for advice if they have a poor flow rate of fuel as this could be the answer to my starting problems . I would also look at the ignition switch , robbie vr had the same symptoms as you . Starter motor was changed with no difference . He then got a wire connected to the ignition with the switch taken out [like a hotwire] put it on the battery terminal and it fired every time . So worth changing it for £27.00 .

time for the vagcom me thinks . Worst case will be the pump , it will proberbly be a sensor .

Thanks for the replys , really appreciate it .i tried the pliers on the watch makers screw driver , also took of under tray and cowl . I think someone's had a go before because the head is not the best . I tried many drivers but none seemed to fit . Rob

I'm thinking of getting a new engine for the Vr . I've heard of vege , but know one else . Who has a great reputation and what sort of price for a short block engine ? . Mine has 150k on it , with all my starting problems and the mileage on it , I'm thinking of getting rid and starting again , the head has only done 50k so that should be fine . Thanks , Rob

Yes I did , it's just turning over and backfiring . I'm so close to breaking the car now !cant believe out of a possible 15 screwdrivers not one of them will undo the screw , it must be so tight .

Looks like someone has had a go before , I've held a mirror up to the head and it's not the best to be honest . To make matters worse I plugged the new switch in to try it and it still won't start .

What kind of screw head is it , if got two small pozi heads in there but can't turn it , I don't want to knacker the head up . I've had a torch up there to have a look but my eyes are straining to see it ! Thanks Rob

I asked the question today Andy , if it would still spark with a dodgy ignition switch and the answer was no , i have a spark so i think i can rule it out . Rob

Thanks sean , just been talking to chris langers and he thought a bad earth somewhere or the injectors as they are getting on a bit [150k] . They are around £80.00 to be cleaned .Oem price on ebay is staggering !. Will see what the weather is doing at the weekend and report back . Rob
