  1. Welcome along mate , get them pics up .
  2. Bay is lookin nice n clean. Im working on this on mine atm . Same as you have painted the cover . Using the self emalgermating tape on the wiring makes it look nice n tidy. Have been using autoglym engine cleaner on the metal parts ,brings em up nice n clean .
  3. Rob tried to find your thread whilst we were looking at the car. Funnily enough I was reading yours a few days ago thinking what a nightmare.... agghhhh! And it turned out to be something simple ! . Mine was the ecu plug which must have got a little coroded or the multi wire lead with the twist off collar .
  4. Hi laura , sounds similar to mine a few weeks ago . Do a search and follow robrado's vr non starter or no spark . Regards Rob
  5. Aha right thanks again ,i shall refit this weekend .
  6. Thank you mr mod sir .Why the drilled holes in the bracket though, there are no bolts in it ? ,i thought mine had come loose and fallen off.I do have the sliding plastic clip on it though. Mr mcCrotch yep its a sort of traction control , it works to around 25 mph as long as the steering wheel is between ten and two o'clock . Think this is mentioned in the original brochure , sure thats where i read it [and chris's reminder in my thread] .Regards Rob
  7. Hello, when i was sorting my spark prob , i noticed there was a metal bracket just hanging in mid air ! . This was identified by chris [rw1] as the elecrical part that gives traction control . It has a 3'' long ressister going to a plug . i beleive it somehow fits onto the abs pump. But how ?cant seem to see where it fits. Thanks Rob
  8. Grumble grumble , wheres mine ? ,only live 3 miles from you , lol dude , look forward to seeing you soon , you getting on with that ob2 conversion or have you slung it in the basement !.
  9. Oh god this reminds me mine have to be done this winter .
  10. Dont think the ecu's are the same . Better to get one with the same code . Theres a few on fleebay .
  11. Didnt take long did it lol . Always like em in silver ,as above nice project .
  12. lol matt. I thought it was called this because it makes a crack , gunshot sound when it goes bang lol, i remember naths goin s;;t the life out of me . Anywho i have cleaned them out and she started fine , will have to wait and see and hopefully i wont have any spluttery starts anymore .
  13. What a plum ! lol. My mistake ,yea i was on about the box that has the pipes going to the isv.
  14. Ok so me vr now starts .I still have the problem of the lumpy start though on occasions . The isv is soaking overnight in carb cleaner . The crack pipe looks a bit messy in and around the mesh grill , is it safe to use carb cleaner and flush it or just soapy water or something ? Thanks Rob
  15. Thanks jim. Yes Wigs and its there for future searches for everyone aswell.
  16. Lol chris the man with magic hands . Thanks again chris[rw1]. Owen i didnt know what to do lol ,just stood there n thought ...f;;k my old boots how did that happen ?. At least now i can get her back to me garage . Regards Rob
  17. Did all the checks from rw1[chris], tonight with langers . Everything has 12v except pin 23 on ecu. Then cleaned the multiwire plug . We were just about to go when chris said give it a turn anyway ,and she started !. So mabe dirt in a plug we cleaned or by moving a wire thats dodgy it has connected and solved the problem. So just need to find out what pin 23 does and what wire we disturbed. Big thanks to rw1 for all his help, and to langers with the meter .regards Rob
  18. Well me n chris langers have two hours on friday evenin spare ,so its off to the vr to do the checks we have been kindly advised to do by chris [rw1].If we fail to sort the problem ,think i will have to dig deep and trailer her up to matt at volkscraft . Rob .
  19. Yea you are right darren its another thing to check . You just dont expect to buy a new part and its faulty though , it must happen i spose . I only got it because the vagcom showed it as a fault . I bought an ecu on fleebay last night for a score , thought for that sort of dough if mines dodgy at least i have one to replace it .Hopefully chris will be able to find the fault with the meter . I know matt has a good rep at volkscraft in exeter, but you have to get the car to him , so would have to get it up there , it might come to that. Regards Rob
  20. Thanks mate need all the support i can get . I hope it is something that the meter can find and not something thats staring me right in the face , goin to feel like a right plum ,lol. I can just see chris now ,head in the bay and saying '' er rob you may want to connect this wire ''.
  21. Thanks bud appreciate the help , give us a bell when you can come over . Thanks mate ,Rob
