Thats the exact plan, only have the silver caps at the moment but when I get that far they will be on the wish list along with slightly stretched tyres all round!
-
I know exactly what you mean, I keep seeing it and think about blasting it off but a bit worried what i might find lurking beneath. It hasn't missed a beat since I purchased it just think the obd2 would smooth things out a little. As for the sunroof, typically I was only operating it to ensure it wouldn't seize and it broke. Solitudes will be refurbed at the same time as a set of porsche design 90's I have been hoarding for a while and I have always liked the look of the d90's on the rado. Planning on raising the coilover height a little as I was lucky enough to snap up another fully standard classic green storm a month or so ago and think midway between the two would look good. Enjoy your new purchase, I'm sure the list will grow once you have it home.

Well, it now has cream leather recaros, all red rears (again), uprated headlight loom, replaced K&N with standard setup, oem volt and oil pressure gauges, karmann number plate holders and I'm waiting on my schrick manifold to come back from being soda-blasted so I can get that installed. I also have all the necessary parts for a climatronic install and looking for a reasonably priced obd2 setup. Future plans involve replacing the broken sunroof mechanism which gave up on me a couple of months back, tidying up of the bodywork including investigating the full extent of the rear arch repair and finally either supercharger or r32 engine swap. Have you already started plans for yours?

Good to hear also, I did think you were crazy selling the storm (to me may I add). She is still in my ownership and has undergone a few changes. Still haven't got round to starting my thread yet but this news may spur me on. Congrats with the purchase, looks a great example!

Hi Andy, If the "Dark Green" is Classic green and the paints in good nick, I'm interested? Let me know, Cheers Chris

Mine arrived the other day. Looks superb quality and a great service, highly recommended. I can't quote on how well the loom works yet because unfortunately it a birthday present from the missus. Will update as soon as I have tested it. Thanks very much!

I second Purple Tom on his theory on the coil. My old Vento GL with 2.0 8v started doing exactly the same thing, went on like this for a while before becoming near impossible to restart. I narrowed it down to two things, firstly replaced the coil (which resolved the problem) and also a worn ignition barrel switch (which didn't help matters). Never replaced the ignition switch cause shortly after replacing the coil I stripped the car for parts and moved on. -
Zak, I will take a loom with the original connectors if still available? Thanks Chris

I second the OEM steering wheel, as said it suits the car, no fuss, fits perfectly. Then I'm not really a fan of aftermarket steering wheels.

Newbie, Mystic Blue Storm just purchased.

Welcome! They did only make 10 in each colour so makes it quite rare now, however alot of manual Storms getting broken for parts so manuals are getting there too. Mines a Classic Green manual and mine has coilovers on it, I also have another with standard suspension at the moment and although it rides high I'm not sure which I prefer. Personal preference I suppose. Enjoy the forum! -
use google translate to find the correct translation of headlights, put that in the german ebay search, then to read the adverts copy the URL and paste again into google translate and it will translate the advert. As an example : - Headlights = Scheinwerfer therefore Corrado headlights = Corrado Scheinwerfer and a translated advert example - http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.de%2Fitm%2FVW-CORRADO-VR6-SCHEINWERFER-BEIFAHRERSEITE-FACELIFT-%2F310339481220%3Fpt%3DDE_Autoteile%26hash%3Ditem4841acae84&act=url

A friend of mine told me of a magazine article in a popular magazine (cant remember which!?!?) which had an article about a Sharan VR6 on which the chains snapped at high speed and did catastrophic damage. I will try find out which magazine, I'm sure he mentioned pictures! On the subject, I just purchased a storm with nearly 180k on with FSH, mainly motorway miles, no evidence of the chains ever being done and when the previous owner asked the garage about having these done, they checked and told him not to bother. To be honest, it's probably smoother and pulls just as well as mine, which has a 30k engine in it.

Classic Green Sunroof Panel + Late dashboard ashtray
Chrisvw419 replied to Chrisvw419's topic in Wanted
Thanks to both of you for your replies. Sorry lilfuzzer but looks like I could kill two birds with one stone with 87's items. Thanks again anyway. 87 Jetta 16v, I will pm you now. -
Hi there, As above I'm after a classic green sunroof panel and a late dashboard ashtray. Not looking to spend a fortune so anything considered on the sunroof side as the laquer has peeled on mine so anythings better than that. May consider a moon roof whole assembly if the price is right. Can collect if local(ish) to Newbury area. Thanks Chris

Seems now is the ideal time to be buying at the moment, most seem to sell for no more than £2000. The most important thing as always is to buy the best you can afford. Check out the buyers guide on here for pointers on what to look out for and give it a thorough going over. If all is good then go for it. Don't take his word for it just needing a sensor for the MOT. Maybe see if he would be happy for you to MOT at your cost first just to check. If it's a friend of a friend and he's genuine then there shouldn't be a problem. If you can give it a check over in the usual spots then use the lack of MOT as a bargaining point and get a few quid off??? Hope this helps. Oh and welcome to the forum.
