These days I'd deal with OCD or JMR (John Mitchell Racing) for G60 specific stuff. Where are you based?
  2. Hope you've got a warm garage to work in, Michael - I wouldn't want to be rolling around under the car doing some of those jobs in a Scottish winter :)
  3. If it's any consolation, it's not just Corrado's where this job is a total PITA. Was discussing this on another forum, and this chap just put up a link to a picture of him doing the same job on a '93 Eurovan.. similar type of horror show: http://i.imgur.com/oz0XSpZ.jpg So it's not just Corrado owners that VW hate ;)
  4. Thing is by the time you've took everything else out, it's such little additional effort to get the dash out. Clocks, steering column cowling, indicators, etc all take minutes to take out. The dash itself was only about 5-6 bolts and even the horrible ones in the scuttle tray put up very little resistance. Of course I say this now having not put anything back together yet - I might have an absolute mare with it all so.. wait until I've reassembled before you get stuck in perhaps ;)
  5. The guide has good info though I must admit I just got stuck in and didn't read it. It was logical enough on how to take it apart. The only hassle I had was the damn heater box itself which I had to break to get out.
  6. Well, not yet I'm not. Waiting on a replacement heater box which, hopefully, lilfuzzer has or is shortly able to get to me in the post!

The combination of modifications I had on my old G60 were, I think, the perfect blend of performance whilst not modifying the car too heavily and kept it reliable which I think is key on the G60. Golf G60 front mount intercooler, SNS remap, 68mm pulley on the G-Lader and an uprated fuel pressure regulator. Those few mods and it consistently rolling roaded at 207BHP & 187ft/lb every time. If I was ever to get another G60, I'd have no hesitation in going the same route again.
  8. So since I started my heater matrix job, I realised I need a few parts to get everything reinstalled - but of course with the car out of commission and the VW dealer on the other side of town, I was thinking I needed to pester some friends for a lift over or bike over there or something. I actually walk past an Audi dealership on my way home from work, and indeed this massive dealership is about a 3 minute walk from my house, but I've been told before that VAG do some bizarre brand lock-out on parts that are not common to both VW & Audi - so you can't order VW parts at Audi and vice versa. Why they do this, when they're the same damn company is beyond me. Surely a sale is a sale, and indeed their parts catalogue as anyone who's used it, lists all the parts for both VW and Audi cars. But anyway the parts chap came out and looked at the part numbers I needed, and confirmed they were all indeed brand locked - he found out they were for the Corrado and we had a good old chat about the car and really seemed interested.. asking me about the mileage, what sort of stuff has been done to it, and said that basically as that dealership was part of a group that also owned the VW dealership across town it'd be no problem for him to get parts ordered through them and then collected and bought over to the Audi. So I have to give Listers Audi in Coventry a big thumbs up for being so damn helpful. They didn't need to be, and indeed the value of the parts was nothing (a couple of bolts and some foam gaskets!) but he seemed genuinely interested in helping me get the car back on the road.
  9. That's fantastic :) Well done mate.
  10. It's a question that's come up many times over the years - but apparently a bonnet will not go in a Corrado no matter how much interior trim you remove and what angles you try to fit it in :(

  12. Just call an auto electrician :) Or hack the thing off and throw it in a bucket of water or something. Presumably you're never going to use it again anyway! :)
  13. Indeed. Sometimes my alarm decides to go off when I pull the battery. So simply disconnecting the battery may not help :(
  14. Well, if you're taking it out anyway, and given how much hassle it's given you, why not just un-mount the alarm siren from it's bracket and cut the cable.. then take to it with a hammer to shut it up if it starts wailing? ;) Sometimes these sirens do have a key override to disable it - certainly one or two alarms I've had in the past have had such a thing. Don't know if yours does?
  15. Can't say I've seen anything like this, despite accessing the site from a variety of browsers in several locations on different operating systems too! I access the site using Safari on OSX, Firefox on Windows 8.1 and on some Android devices too and it's been business as usual for a while! :(
  16. These are the kinds of shows I much prefer these days - great to see so much variety, genuine classics, and really enthusiastic owners. Great stuff :) Funnily enough seeing that Vauxhall cop car in the 5th picture - think he was at the Coventry Festival of Motoring last weekend. Got chatting to them as I wanted to know how they got them to and from the show as I assumed it'd be illegal to drive them on the roads.. they completely cover the lightbars on the roof, and then have to cover over every 'POLICE' text on the bonnet, etc with black stickers!
  17. The one on the right seems to be the same as the 16v but you normally see them with a little silver insert rather than black insert at the bottom of the horn push. I'm not convinced that wheel was ever used on the VR6 and perhaps came off a different model of VW all together but I guess we'll never know!
  18. Managed to get the two old bolts / fixings out of the bulkhead with the help of a spare pair of hands from a mate of mine this morning. Top one came undone OK, bottom one actually sheared in half it was so seized on!! Got a replacement heater box on the way from lilfuzzer :)
  19. Feel a little more philosophical about it all today and looking at the pile of stuff in my front room, it's not THAT much stuff. To be honest I was surprised at how easy it was to dismantle it all yesterday really aside from the heater box resisting :) Just hope it goes back together as easily ;)
  20. Cool - will have a look today. I just had to put everything to do with the car down and walk away from it yesterday because I was so ****ed off with it! Already got a replacement heater box lined up too which is a bonus :) Thank god for this forum and some of the great folks that make it what it is.
  21. Thanks for picking this up so quickly, Andi :)
  22. I will bring the thread to Andi's attention. Thanks for reporting it guys.
  23. OK - pics are here hopefully: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1fJDWZF2UmyVl9xUlUyX2RIOUk&usp=sharing Cheers.
