  1. I guess there's many reasons for wanting a change. Part of it, as much as anything, is.. life is too short. There are lots of cars out there, and I'd like to be able to drive as many as possible to form my own opinions on them all. That and given I've owned 4 Corrado's for a combined total of about 8 or 9 years, I sort of feel like I've "done" the Corrado thing. Despite being hugely enthusiastic for them, I don't consider them the 'best car in the world'.. and I also feel like the friends I've made through the club are now such good friends that owning a Corrado is no longer relevant to staying friends with them. I'll still see them no matter what car I own!

    I am confused also..
  3. They look awesome - have been talking about them with a mate in the office. I reckon I'd wait a couple of years and let someone take the hit on the depreciation, then look into one?
  4. I did expect this sort of response to be honest. Probably easier if I just say nothing more on the subject on here! :) Seeking opinions on PistonHeads, I got slightly less bias responses about the Clio - in fact was overwhelmed at how well liked they are.
  5. I love hot hatches to be honest and it's not all about flat out / top speed.. besides, how much performance do you need on the roads these days? :)
  6. I've been thinking about scratching a Clio 182 shaped itch for the last few weeks :| They're pretty affordable now..
  7. I understand entirely where you're coming from! You just think about the bills you need to spend to keep it on the road.. and think what else you could get for the money. It's hard to make the argument for the Corrado sometimes, even if you do really enjoy driving it.
  8. I emailed the photographer but have no response about pictures... :(
  9. Ok - all done. Hoping it's enough to get me through the MOT now. It does feel tighter now but I couldn't hand on heart say it was MILES better though there's definitely an improvement. Not particularly time consuming to do though and has been said easily reversible and fairly safe (in so much as all you're eliminating is the height adjust mechanism damping spring - if the bolts come lose, nothing is going to be dangerous as the height adjuster would still be locked in place). Also replaced number plate light bulbs (my other MOT failure) - both working now! I'll be ringing them on Monday to arrange my retest.
  10. So far so good... had the steering wheel, cowling, and dash undertrays off in no time. Popped the spring out from the mechanism using a pair of pliers (and it dumped a load of grease on my jeans in the process.. awesome) but then when I set about drilling the dome, it turns out the drill I just bought needs a full charge as it gave up and went flat after about 10 seconds of drilling - doh! I'll be resuming a bit later on :) The slack / play does seem to be in the top half of the column so I think this is going to help without a doubt once it's all secured and tightened up!

OK - good news. I found them. Both sides. Still sealed in their packet :) I dropped you a PM to sort out getting them.
  12. I've no intention of removing the column at this point in time mate :) Going to attempt the repair job on the previous page to eliminate the height adjuster (at least to get me through the MOT).
  13. Aye - certainly no harm in trying it before spending some money :)

Just a question of right place, right time, nearby location and the mood I was in mate. Sorry to disappoint anyone!

I don't want to rip people off. Just hope I have them now! Will let you know.

I am over to my garage so I will take a look and see if I do have them. I found some old threads talking about the price of them at the time as being 40 quid a side from VW.. given the rarity I am going to push for 100 quid the pair assuming i do have them! Any good to you?

Given that the likelyhood of me ever wanting to sink the money into mine for a full respray is diminishing by the day, I believe I may have a set of door scrapers brand new in my garage - and evidently I'm not very far from you. I've no idea of a fair value for these given that they're obsolete though...
  18. Hello mate - thanks for the info! I'm going to have a good look at things this weekend and attempt the modification posted above. As it's reversible I'm not greatly concerned and know I can put my car back to how it was if I run into problems. If I do end up not getting anywhere and they still fail the MOT, I'll be taking the car elsewhere so will chat to you about Vastec then if it comes to it! :)
  19. It's almost always the ISV. Swap that as step 1!
  20. Awesome advert for the Audi R8 V10 Plus with it just running on a dyno.... sounds glorious :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpB1yR9Sz9Y
  21. Yeah - I certainly didn't imagine we'd have our OWN track day as we simply will not get numbers. Rather we'd attend an existing track day and just try and arrange a couple of sessions for us as a group I wouldn't be too keen duking it out with 911's, Impreza's, Caterhams, and generally far more experienced folks than me! I guess we should find out what everyone actually wants (in terms of sessions, etc), how far they're willing to travel, etc.. I'd be more than happy to contact some of these places once we have some ideas of numbers and these sorts of details.
  22. Would be a 4 hour drive for the southern folks.. I think any further north would just be unattractive for them. We may have to accept that one single track day for Corrado owners isn't practical with the distances involved here and maybe have to organise a couple based on demand / interest.
  23. I reckon I'd be up for this, yes :) Fairly flexible on location.. and think I'm up for something a little further north to give the Scottish guys a shout.
  24. Rotational play isn't that bad at all.. in fact it's surprisingly slack-free given the mileage it's on now... certainly nowhere near as bad as my last Corrado and that always passed MOT's.
  25. They didn't elaborate mate - I tried to push the steering wheel in and out and that was fine, but pulling it left / right / up / down there's a little movement.. like a few mm tops. Going to take the dash cowling and wheel off over the weekend and have a look see if I can do anything / tighten anything / reinforce anything to get through the retest! And cheers Dave - will take a look at that properly later! *edit* Re-reading it that looks really good so I know what I'll be doing this weekend!
