  1. Indeed - I sold my Octavia VRS to Volkswizard and when he found out about me being in the CCGB, he had a good chat about his Corrado and it being on Fifth Gear. The item is basically not about the Corrado (as in like a history piece of anything) but actually about taking an older car and just showing the benefits of simply servicing it, and what improvement it has on performance. But apparently Plato did track the VR6 for the feature, and really enjoyed it.. so hoping there's a bit of Corrado enthusiasm and something worth watching when the feature actually airs!
  2. To each his own :) The hardware is overpriced, no doubt about it.. but Apple's excellent customer service, and OS X make it somewhat more worthwhile! The Air isn't a terrible deal either when you factor in the seriously top rate SSD is in the Haswell version (PCIe based.. mega, mega quick).
  3. That's even cheaper than I can get with my academic discount.
  4. Wow ok - this is good news. I shall look into new INA tappets when I get back, assuming I can find them! Thanks for the update!
  5. Indeed - thanks Eric! Here for work and the time zone difference isn't friendly for speaking to Stealth. I will look into it when I am back!
  6. Prescient timing on this news article.. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=groundwater-contamination-may-end-the-gas-fracking-boom
  7. Indeed! :) I've dropped him an email to draw attention to the thread.
  8. Yeah - presumably the CAD work was done by Dave aka CrazyDave on here then as he was the other partner in DG Autotech. Perhaps worth dropping him a PM :) He might give you the original cad files.
  9. Can one up that... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U81_0waqEWA By the way, this series is really worth watching (Roadkill by Motortrend) - they've done some great bits and the two hosts have good chemistry, which make for an entertaining watch! :)
  10. Reckon the VR with the snorkel removed is the perfect compromise. I ran a BMC for a while and the noise was hilarious but it was just too noisy / head turning.
  11. Got to agree given the amount of work done here.
  12. Don't feel guilty... you snooze, you lose! :)
  13. If I'm organising it (which I'm more than happy to do), to be honest I'm only happy to organise at Stealth. We've been going there a long time and we have a good rapport and process with Vince and Stealth. Not too keen on going anywhere else tbh :)
  14. Chaps - before you start copying DG Autotech's work, it might be worth dropping them a line to see if they mind first! They may not make them any more and therefore might not care, but if they are still selling them, they might not be too impressed at people copying their products!
  15. I'll get in touch with Vince when I'm back from the States. If folks who are interested could post up as it'd help me get an idea of numbers. Ta.
  16. Do folks want me to speak to Stealth about organising one in October / November sort of time? I'd be more than happy to sort it all out again.
  17. Coolant light came on after a bit of effort showing a 3 series a clean pair of heels.. looks like the radiator has given up and has a slow leak!
  18. Glad no one spotted me at the side of the A14 westbound, just before the Catthorpe Interchange yesterday morning... with the bonnet up :(

    Roof strips

Trimsport really need to get onto making some replicas of these! :)
  20. This is extremely disappointing. Funnily enough I had my Corrado insured on a classic policy with another insurer up until recently when I switched it back over to a 'normal' policy and after cancelling that with two months to go, I got no refund either.. I didn't query it but thought it seemed weird. Probably explains what happened there! As you say Bill, the insurance companies win again.
  21. This might make me sound like a bit of a hippy but.. so be it. I'm getting increasingly concerned at the rate at which corporations are able to exploit natural resources, seemingly with impunity and without any concern for outcomes which because of vast profits they're always able to pay off. You only have to look at BP, Halliburton, and all those crooks and the outcomes in the Gulf of Mexico. It feels as though, in the case of fracking, simply not enough research has been made widely available / accessible by the press. I'm obviously not informed enough to know whether it's safe enough, so in the mean time in concerns me about potentially permanent damage to different layers under us, like the water table, etc. I simply don't know who to trust as you never know which piece of research has had which corporations 'sponsoring' the research. I'd be more reassured if I *knew* it was safe, wasn't going to cause earthquakes, etc.
  22. Even when mine has been sat in the baking sun for hours, it'll often still idle slightly higher than 'normal' for the first 20-30 seconds or so, before settling down to the normal VR6 idle speed.
